Three Tuns Romsey
58 Middlebridge St, RomseyWe are regular customers at The Three Tuns but due to a not so good Sunday lunch a few months ago we have been trying other local venues but the calling was too strong not to come back and we're happy to say they are back on track and today the Sunday lunch was back to its best. Great food and as always Rob was on top form. We've already booked to return.

Suan Thai Restaurant
Tee Court, Bell St, RomseyFood was excellent and everyone one enjoyed it, service at the table was very good as well. The only thing that ruined it was the man at the bar. One of our party had to go early and wouldnt let her pay for the things she had ordered but instead wanted it all together. Most resturants can do this with no hassle. I think its because he didnt know how to add up but it really did ruin the evening. For a top rated Thai place you would've thought a resturant would of been able to cope with it, but apparently not.

The Bear & Ragged Staff, Romsey
Stoneymarsh House, Michelmersh, RomseyBooked for Sunday lunch. Nice ambience, not too busy, pleasant surroundings. Not left hanging around for too long before being shown to a table. Appreciated the service was polite and efficient. Two roast beef lunches came out followed by a plate of mixed veg. Food not particularly hot, especially the veg - but too hungry to have it sent back and to be fair, all very tasty. Not sure how in advance the roasties had been cooked, but really needed a serrated knife or a saw to get into them. The sweets were pleasant, ice cream scoops quite small, so two would've been welcomed. Twice had to ask for the bill, so decided to go to the till to pay. Overall Sunday Lunch was a success - not the best we've ever had, but by no means the worst. So, yes, we will visit again when in the area and maybe try something different to eat next time.

Hunters Inn, The, Winchester Hill, RomseyHere last night for a team meal and had such a great experience. The service was excellent from start to finish — the staff were so friendly and welcoming, which really made the evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy, perfect for catching up with everyone. Food and drinks came out promptly, and it felt like nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a pub with genuine hospitality and a lovely vibe. We’ll be back!

Kimbridge, RomseyWent on a Monday and got the vegan full Kimbridge - it was lush! The only “criticism” is that I’d have liked 1 more hash brown because they were perfection and there was waaaaay too much butter lol. But we will definitely be going back. The courgette fritters were fried to perfection. Great atmosphere, lovely location and the staff were very accommodating!

Luzborough
Luzborough Ln, RomseyThis is a pub with a warm atmosphere in a lovely big garden. We went for lunch and sat outside, as it was such glorious weather. Gareth’s team had been put in a difficult position due to unexpected staff sickness and Gareth had taken on the kitchen, with Hannah and Lucy (itwas her first shift) supporting on service and bar. All three did an absolutely outstanding job of managing the crowd of diners. We enjoyed chicken goujons to start, followed by steak wraps and fish and chips, all of which were extremely good and very tasty. Most customers showed patience, with a couple of ungraceful exceptions, but our own experience was a lovely lunch and a positive approach by all three staff. Thankyou, you three - proper team work!

Romsey Kebab House
5 Church St, RomseyOn my first visit here and I found the staff very helpful and welcoming. The food was perfectly edible, but it was also very mediocre. I would eat from here again, although I would try something different.
Also, as much as they will take payment from cards, there is a big sign encouraging payment from cash only. I felt uncomfortable when I needed to use a card, as I had no cash with me.
I can't highly recommend this place, but I will be going back at some point in the future.

The Cromwell Arms, Romsey
23 Mainstone, RomseyHad a nice stay on a Saturday night. Room was very nice, had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. Nice bathroom too and great black out blinds made the room very dark. \nOnly one staff member who was friendly and attentive. We didn't have dinner there so can't comment there. Breakfast was very good, a buffet with fruit, pastries, toast and juice and then a menu to choose from - full English was great quality. \nCouple of downsides - the rooms are not sound proofed. The people above us were very noisy and we could also hear next doors tv. The fridge was also very noisy through the night. Earplugs were provided which helped a little. The drawer next to the bed had also not been cleaned out and the last people had left behind remnants of their "good time"! However, the rest of the room was cleaned very well. Overall it was a good stay and I'd recommend it. With breakfast included it was also good value for money.

La Parisienne
21 Bell St, RomseyI was pleasantly surprised. All my dishes were great. Snails very delicious with lots of garlic and parsley. My main the duck confit was cooked as I expected. Crispy on the outside and the meat not dry but tender falling of the bone. Maybe the sauce could have been a bit more flavourful and less runny but it wasn't bad at all. The sides were fine too. Good salad and fries. Dessert, creme caramel had the classic taste and texture. Nice cosy French pub atmosphere with good draft beer. Very relaxed. Overall very good experience. I be coming back and I recommend giving it a try.

The Mandarin Chef
Winchester Rd, RomseyMy new favourite restaurant! Can’t wait to visit again after a fantastic meal this evening. Went on the spur of the moment after going to a firework display.\n\nWe received a very warm and friendly welcome which always makes us feel at ease, and you know you’re somewhere that cares about their customers. The buffet concept was explained well and we got onto ordering straight away! There’s an incredible selection of typical Chinese starters, second courses (like soups and crispy duck) and then mains and rice/noodles. You can eat as much - or as little - as you like, and can even go back to starters after your mains!\n\nYou ordered what you fancied and the dishes just kept coming! The quantity on each dish was just right, it was all fresh and beautifully presented, piping hot and so full of flavour. We realised we’d had amazing value for money from the starters alone. \n\nIt was such a fantastic meal and whilst it was a buffet, it was lovely having dishes served to the table rather than the type of buffet where your party is up and down all evening. \n\nI really, really rate the Mandarin Chef highly - and am clearly not alone given how busy it was. I’d recommend you try it and will definitely be returning soon. \n\nThanks for a fantastic meal!

Nightingale
45 Latimer St, RomseyJune 2025
Had another visit last night and it was very busy outside probably partly due to the lovely weather. They have a Thursday night £3 offer on selected drinks, including pints of beer, cider, and standard size gins and wine. It seems to be working as lots of people were drinking heartily, for me a bit too heartlily as a lot were very drunk.
My main issue was the brusqueness of the staff, not a warm greeting but a sense we were lucky she was letting us have a drink in her pub! The other patrons seemed to like it and joked about it being her pub her way and I'm absolutely sure it's partly an act but maybe I'm too timid for it all as I felt a bit awkward.
My three pound gin was good, standard tonic which I enjoyed so I'm happy, my friend had lemonade in hers that came from a big bottle and was flat, she drank it (waste not) but didn't much enjoy it. I was told I was served the wrong tonic and I should have had mine from a big bottle so I swerved one there! I would rather pay a little more and have freshly opened mixers but maybe that's just me.
I will go back but probably not between 5 and 8pm on a Thursday, but for those who like
busy and a bargain it's well worth going along.
March 2024
I went back over the Easter weekend and it's really settled into itself now. Still a great selection of gins, ciders, and beer (wine too of course but it's these that urge me through the doors!)
It's changed hands since my last review, but still a great place to head.
This is a great New pub for Romsey. Modern but comfortable with plenty of space for big groups and little nooks for smaller gatherings. I've only been in once and I'm heading back in a couple of days with a larger group for food and drinks, my hopes are high!

Bradbeers Department Store Romsey
14 - 20 Bell St, RomseyNice store but too expensive for me. I use the cafe though despite the freezing air conditioning on cold days!
Disabled toilet in ladies fashion area is not assessed by those with knowledge and understanding. The unnecessarily very heavy door doesn't open fully so it's difficult if not impossible for a frail person with a rollator or wheelchair to get in or out without someone holding the door open.
Theres no coat hook! Are they expected to put their coats on the floor (not not that they would be able to bend down and pick it up)? We did request that a coat hook be put there months ago and it was promised. Obviously they have no imagination as to what it's like to manage as a disabled person.
