What wonderful hospitality. We had booked a rare family get together for 16 people and 5 dogs outside as weather due to be nice. Unfortunately the rain arrived but the fabulous staff set us up in the marquee so we could all sit together and have space for 3 large dogs. Couldn't have asked for more. Great food, great service, kind and wonderful staff x

A charming pub in the hamlet of East Peckham that sits next to the river Bourne. The former coaching inn dates back to the 16th century and has low wood beam ceilings ( you have to duck in some areas ) and the outside area is next to the river which is a lovely spot.
The landlord and landlady were very welcoming and also accommodating as I arrived just as food service had ended. They kindly took my food order ( see pics )
The pub was quite busy for a Monday lunchtime and a number of customers were eating. The pub has a solid reputation for good food and I would imagine that if you want to enjoy Sunday lunch you would need to book.
A couple of pub regulars spoke to me and had good things to say too!
The pub itself is in good order, nice and clean etc. I used the toilet and everything was clean and in good order.
The pub has a good sized car park.
The pub has a website if you require further details of opening times and food service times plus you can view the menus.

Lovely food and coffee. The setting is too.
I recommend the breakfast baguette; really lovely bread and well made.
Staff are nice, friendly and helpful.

Minor gripes.
The brown sauce isn't like HP sauce and comes off more as tangy and vinegary. Possibly the lack of tamarind in the brand they've used.

If I came again I'd avoid the rubber deck out back; unfortunately you can feel the slightest movement of your fellow customers.
If they have kids or someone's a bit heavy-set then it's particularly disruptive.

Ordering 'to go' and eating at one of the benches downstairs seems a much more peaceful experience. I'm sure I'll be back soon.
