Yorkshire Hussar Inn
High St, Markington, HarrogateThe pub is traditional with a refurbed edge, it has a few different areas which I think suits everyone. We loved the local vibe everyone got on and I often heard banter between staff and customers, we stayed in their caravan park attached so it was a great addition to our stay. We had Sunday lunch which initially seemed expensive but the portion size was good and the quality of the ingredients were clearly high. We didn’t have to wait too long but weren’t in a rush anyway, we had a drink whilst waiting which was nice. We have claimed we’re cursed because we often eat out and there’s always something wrong or it’s poor quality and I wouldnt say we’re even fussy. I had the sirloin roast beef my partner had the roast chicken, you get a huge Yorkshire with it too. My first mouthful was to taste the mash and it was really creamy and tasty followed by a bit of the perfectly cooked beef (my mouths watering remembering ) it was soft and moist, I hate chewy beef and this did not disappoint. It melted in my mouth ! The veggies were cooked to perfection too, the spring greens were crispy but soft I honestly can’t describe how good they were I think the chef had them in a drizzle or something I’ve never had anything like it and I’d say apart from the beef it was my favourite part of the meal ! The carrots were soft but firm, let’s be honest usually the veg on a roast is boring and plain but I felt like every part of this meal had been given as much attention as the rest. We over heard a conversation that the chef was new and working alone so I was even more impressed ! I would pay their restaurant prices again for this roast as it was better than most restaurants we’ve eaten at !
We also had a pudding sticky toffee and a brownie and again both were really nice ! Unfortunately we didn’t take a pic, our dog was being hormonal and I had to return her to our caravan so I wasn’t focused at the time and honestly we don’t take pics in general but had I have know how nice it was going to be I would have !
