Blue Bell Inn
Kirby Hill, YorkWe'd only come up to Ripon area to walk around Simon' Seat and attend Park Run at Fountains Abbey, but we liked Ripon soo much we stayed an extra night and got a room at the Blue Bell. The room itself was really nice with a soft bed and good bathroom but as we are both around 6 feet tall, it perhaps should have been called the Duck Suite. Super critical, the tv was a little small and the curtains need to be thicker to keep out the early morning sun, but as I said, that is super critical. What was impressive was the young man who served us at dinner..confident but also relaxed and very friendly....a credit to the pub. As you can see from the photos, the food was well presented and tasty but if you are going to serve hot food, please don't serve it on cold plates and would have liked to have more variety of veg' with main course. The Blue Bell Inn is mentioned as bed & breakfast.....there was no breakfast offered to us.

Bowe & Co.
25-27 High St, Boroughbridge, YorkSmall caff which is well worth a visit. Great array of salads, all of which are vegetarian (not vegan, but vegan options available). Breakfasts, lunches, cakes. I had leek and Stilton quiche with salad and a pot of lemon and ginger tea. When I asked what salad it came with, I was told: "Everything!" The polite chap wasn't joking! What a colourful and tasty plateful was delivered! Good service, good food, yes, I'd revisit.

Gilchrist's Bakery & Cafe
39 High St, Boroughbridge, YorkSuperb food, superb service and great staff, always extremely polite. Lovely little place. The breakfast rolls are delicious. Not the cheapest but you pay for what you get. They certainly don't skint on the fillings ?
