“A great find.We stayed overnight here while attending a function at Slayley Hall.A great welcome on arrival and very accommodating. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable, with some lovely touches and is separate from the pub so late access wasn't a problem. (If you need a taxi from slayley hall, book well in advance).Breakfast is continental style and self-service, but loads of options and choices. We would highly recommendThank you”

“Cracking scran. Tasty, very generous meals. Proper chips means *proper* chips! Quite a "hipster" atmosphere but not in a pretentious way, the staff there were really friendly and went out of their way to fetch water for our dog.”

“They were fully booked and we were walk ins coming back from Hadrian's Wall. The tables were booked and the owner and staff went out of their way to find a table for 2. It is a lovely pub and upscale restaurant with amazing food. I had roasted lamb for the first time and there will never be another that will top how delicious the food was. The atmosphere is welcoming and the the pint was perfect! Brewed right there. We bought some beer and off we went on our way. I wish I would have stayed at the Inn as I know it would be a wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff for being so accommodating as we traveled all the way from Canada ?? to stop in. Thank you again.”

“We stayed here on 28 September 2023 as we were house hunting the next day. We couldn’t have had a warmer welcome from Ian and the other staff on duty. Our room was very pleasant room and spotlessly clean. The room had a nice sized shower en-suite and it was a comfy stay. Friday’s breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay there again.”

“This was our 1st visit back to The Travellers Rest in over 2 years as the last time we went the food was dreadful. We were apprehensive as to what it would be like, it was lovely, nothing has changed except that on the bar there is a selection of home made cakes and scones. Club Sandwich, 2 chicken and avocado sandwiches, 2 soft drinks and 2 cakes for a very reasonable £33.00. We will definitely come back again.”
