Carron restaurant
Cam-allt, StrathcarronEnglish Auto Translation at the End:\nShortly to us: we go to Scotland at regular intervals and tour there for 1-2 weeks. During this time we really like to go out to dinner.\nLast week we also came to Carron Restaurant .\n\nThe map was quite extraordinary, which made me really happy with all the pub pit we had in the last few weeks.\n\nWhat I didn't expect, however, is that I've never eaten so well in Scotland.\nWe had both the pulled lamb and a mushroom soup as a starter.\nI grill myself and can definitely say of myself that I can manage a good pulled pork quite reasonably. However, I have never eaten Pulled Lamb.... What was on my plate was really an absolute taste boon, which skilfully stood out from the otherwise often quite monotonous Scottish food in quality. The ingredients were really good, there was a smoke taste, plus the chef played with the flavors. It tasted incredibly good. The Mushroom Soup was also a highlight. Very intense, good taste. So that was worth it before. After that I had the Smoked Pork Belly as a main and a Graupenrisotto as a second dish for my wife. The Smoked Pork Belly was excellently smoked, had a slight sweetness and you could crush it with a fork. It was really awesome. The side dish was an excellent match.\n\nAlthough I didn’t really want dessert, it had made me so curious that I had to try it, chocolate cake with yogurt parfait and smoked butterscotch. Again, I can say that I have not eaten anything like this here in Germany... My mouth waters when I write.\n\nIn addition, there was a super attentive and friendly Service. The lady came from Spain and really served us super nice and friendly and also told us something about the dishes, as well as her passion to bring people closer to this food. It was really a great night. I shook my head two days later because I never expected to get such food in such a small, unobtrusive place. If the store was here in Germany, I'd be a regular customer. Go there and try it out...\n\nThanks again to the Carron team for the fantastic and delicious evening.\n\nEnglish\nA quick word about us: we regularly travel to Scotland for 1–2 weeks and love eating out. Last week that led us to the Carron Restaurant.\n\nThe menu was refreshingly unusual after weeks of pub grub. What I didn’t expect was the best meal I’ve ever had in Scotland. For starters we had pulled lamb and mushroom soup. I grill myself and make a decent pulled pork, but I’d never had pulled lamb—this was a revelation: excellent ingredients, a deft smoky note, and thoughtful flavors. The mushroom soup was also a standout with deep, clean taste.\n\nFor mains, I had smoked pork belly and my wife had a barley risotto. The pork belly was beautifully smoked, lightly sweet, and fork-tender—an absolute highlight. The side dish matched perfectly. So The risotto was extremely good.\n\nI hadn’t planned on dessert, but curiosity won: chocolate cake with yogurt parfait and smoked butterscotch. I've never had anything like it in Germany either—my mouth waters just thinking about it.\n\nService was superb—attentive and warm. Our Spanish server looked after us wonderfully, explained the dishes, and shared her passion for the food. It was a terrific evening. Two days later I was still amazed that such a small, unassuming place delivered a meal like this. If it were in Germany, I’d be a regular. All I can say is: go there and give them a chance. They deserve it.\n\nMany thanks to the Carron team for a fantastic, delicious evening.

Applecross Walled Garden
Applecross, StrathcarronWe had been recommended to visit the walled garden, and were pleased to have done so. Delightful gardens to mooch through, with beautiful fragrances. It was quite busy, and we had to wait awhile, but the menu was adequate, and a light lunch most welcome. We were not disappointed.

Kishorn Seafood Bar
Kishorn, StrathcarronHave driven past many times over the years but always missed opening times. This time we went for lunch at 1:30. Tried to book but no luck. Just turned up and got last table for 2. Restaurant was packed. As it thinned out we were invited to move to a window seat with a view of the Loch.\nWe chose a small shelkfish platter and a salmon platter for the two of us. Everything was excellent. Very tasty. The shellfish platter can with lots of mussels as well as scallops, langoustines and crab. Couldn't fault the food or the service which was prompt and courteous. A Skye Amber ale and Pic poul accompanied the meal. Would highly recommend.
