The Sharksfin
The Quay, Mevagissey, Saint AustellWent to Sharksfin again third time’s a charm, or so we thought. Starters came out and honestly, I thought they were mains in disguise. The boneless chicken wings? Spot on good quality, crispy, tasty. Whoever cooked them deserves a medal. The slow-roasted belly pork? Melt-in-the-mouth tender I swear it practically waved goodbye before I ate it.
Now… the fish tacos. Let’s just say my wife is still traumatised. Skin on fish? In a taco? Bold move, chef. Not a fan, not one bit. She gave me that “you ordered this, you deal with it” look.
Service was alright no disasters, but let’s just say if we hadn’t asked for extra drinks we’d have been drier than a Cornish sand dune in July.
Price? Bang in the middle not a bargain, not daylight robbery. Just… meh.
So, will we be back for a fourth round? Probably not. Time to move on to pastures new (and preferably skinless tacos). ???

The food has been amazing, nothing to fault here. The service has been great, very attentive staff. Food service waiting times, no issue at all in regards to it. The garlic chilli chicken and king prawn madras was really good. The mix platter for started had a good variety and we enjoyed them very much. I will come again to try out the vast variety items on the menu. Keep up the work guys. For anyone seeing this review, please do go in and give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. The Carclaze
St Austell Enterprise park, Treverbyn Rd, Carclaze, Saint AustellAmazing and the best chain restaurant we have been to for both the price and friendly staff.\nFrom the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. \nOur server was knowledgeable about both the food and drinks menus, straight away asked about allergies.\n The food came out quickly and exceeded our expectations - we had the £6 meal deal ( we didn’t expect a lot so was shocked on how good it was) and for the price it was amazing can’t beat that!! great selection , and generous portions. \nThe new manager Dev introduced himself straight away! And made us feel like we was in a small homey pub.\nThe restaurant itself is spacious and designed with comfortable seating and loads of space for our pushchair.\nAs locals we will be returning very soon!!

Watermargin Chinese Restaurant
2 Gover Rd, Saint AustellWhere do you go on a cold wet night in St Austell? Our local friends had the answer - the Watermargin Chinese restaurant in one of the back roads of the town. It looked nothing much from the outside and fairly simple table settings on the inside - but we all agreed it was the best Chinese feast we have had in many a year. \n\nThere were ten of us aged from 3 to 88 in our party and every single one agreed that the service, quality of food and its presentation was first rate. The waitress even showed the three year old how to use chopsticks - and he tucked away merrily with them to devour everything that was put before him.\n\nA vast choice on the menu - something for everyone. Freshly cooked and came at a sensible pace. Some us tried the set meals which were excellent and well balanced. \nworth going out of your way to have a meal here - or takeaway if you prefer.

Domino's Pizza - St Austell
80 Southbourne Rd, Saint AustellI’m not one for leaving reviews but I just had to after the fabulous service I received from the manager. We’ve recently discovered that my daughter is lactose intolerant which means that she misses out on most things that she previously loved. Last night everyone fancied Domino's for dinner which is usually a problem for her so I decided to call and see what we could do. Ronan (I think) said ‘no problem, I can put normal toppings on a plant based pizza for her and I’ll add a note on your account so that you come through to me when you order’. My daughter absolutely loved her pizza and said it tasted no different!! Thanks so much Ronan!! You’ve made her very happy (which is a challenge for a teenager lol)

Short & Strong Cafe & Deli
Charlestown Rd, Saint AustellWe stopped by Short & Strong on what turned out to be the busiest day in Charlestown (thanks to the regatta, raft race, and general seaside buzz), so the area was loud and packed, but the café itself was a calm little corner.
The Cornish brunch was pretty good, and the coffee (both hot and iced) was excellent. Staff were warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It’s attached to The Long Store, so expect a bit of shared atmosphere if it’s a busy day, but all in all, a tasty and pleasant visit. W End, Pentewan, Saint AustellInto the Woods in Pentewan is a fantastic spot for families looking for a fun and relaxing break. There’s so much to keep both kids and adults entertained – from bouncy castles and pool tables to retro arcade games and table games, there’s never a dull moment.
The evening entertainment is wholesome and perfectly adequate, adding a nice touch without being over the top – just right for families with younger children. The garden is a real highlight too, turning into a lovely sun trap in the afternoons and evenings, perfect for winding down while the kids play.

The owner, bar staff and locals could not have been any nicer, it is so rare to find a pub like this where everybody is so genuinely welcoming and friendly. They gave us some great ideas for local events happening in the area we would have missed and it was great to share a few evenings with such great characters.
Nothing life-changing, but definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

The Boathouse Charlestown
Charlestown Rd, Saint AustellNice meals that are refreshingly different.\nHusband enjoyed his pork belly with noodles dish & I liked my fish with fresh samphire dish, beautifully cooked & tasty \nWe had to wait almost an hour between courses which we thought was overly long & probably seemed longer because the wicker seats are rather uncomfortable.\nGood place to go in Charlestown for a special meal \n
