Excellent tour of the brewery with Dave, we bought it for my father in law's birthday and he had a fantastic time learning about the history of St Austell brewery - finished off with a tasting of some great beers, fantastic value for money!

Absolutely love Edie’s, the food is incredible. The menu is always changing, there’s a good wine list and a welcoming atmosphere. Along with the incredible food comes great service, Edie’s has a knack of finding lovely, joyous humans to work for them. It’s our go to special occasion or treat restaurant.

The fish Grill & More

Jetty St, Mevagissey, Saint Austell

The best fish & chips you will ever want. As me & my partner couldn’t decide we went for beer battered haddock & chips (£10) and the Trio of fish (mackerel & one other fillet + two scallops) chips, salad & lemon served on the side. To say this was cooked to perfection is an understatement! My god! If your any kinda foodie this place is for you - v v fresh fish that sticky fresh taste, chips skin on crispy fluffy inside & hot, lovely crunchy fresh salad leaves with a wedge of lemon! Just sublime! The batter on the haddock was absolutely to die for - we both ate all the batter, it’s like a light coating with such a light crunch! It’s so moorish! Thank you sooo much! 5 stars is not enough!

We went for the festive afternoon tea and it was beautiful. So nice to have a variety of different savouries instead of the standard boring sandwiches.
We were greated at the door. The building was nicely decorated and tasteful art. Woodburners were going, nice lighting all made for a soothing comfortable atmosphere. The afternoon tea was great. The savouries were butternut squash with blue cheese quiche, pea and mint puree on rye bread, ginger and apricot sausage roll and a beautiful turkey and potato fried ball on cranberry. Lovely, lovely flavours and quality. Highly recommend the festive afternoon tea if your looking for something special locally

Popped in on our way home to the midlands. Great friendly welcoming guy showed us a table we could sit at with our mini dachshund.
Drinks came quickly. Food ordered and served by a friendly waitress. They even did us a sausage for our little dog. Toilets are immaculate.
Great find and will definitely drop in again on our visits down to Cornwall.
Thank you Victoria Inn.

The Crown Inn

St Ewe, Saint Austell

Since moving back to Cornwall last November, we try to go out to lunch every Sunday visiting as many different venues as possible, returning to our favourites on numerous occasions. The Crown is up there amongst the best, the pub has a great atmosphere, the food is of a very high standard and the staff are warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
Wine by the bottle is very reasonably priced.
I would definitely you book in advance.

Short & Strong Cafe & Deli

Charlestown Rd, Saint Austell

We stopped by Short & Strong on what turned out to be the busiest day in Charlestown (thanks to the regatta, raft race, and general seaside buzz), so the area was loud and packed, but the café itself was a calm little corner.

The Cornish brunch was pretty good, and the coffee (both hot and iced) was excellent. Staff were warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It’s attached to The Long Store, so expect a bit of shared atmosphere if it’s a busy day, but all in all, a tasty and pleasant visit. Nothing life-changing, but definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

The Sharksfin

The Quay, Mevagissey, Saint Austell

Went to Sharksfin again third time’s a charm, or so we thought. Starters came out and honestly, I thought they were mains in disguise. The boneless chicken wings? Spot on good quality, crispy, tasty. Whoever cooked them deserves a medal. The slow-roasted belly pork? Melt-in-the-mouth tender I swear it practically waved goodbye before I ate it.

Now… the fish tacos. Let’s just say my wife is still traumatised. Skin on fish? In a taco? Bold move, chef. Not a fan, not one bit. She gave me that “you ordered this, you deal with it” look.

Service was alright no disasters, but let’s just say if we hadn’t asked for extra drinks we’d have been drier than a Cornish sand dune in July.

Price? Bang in the middle not a bargain, not daylight robbery. Just… meh.

So, will we be back for a fourth round? Probably not. Time to move on to pastures new (and preferably skinless tacos). ???

Nice meals that are refreshingly different.\nHusband enjoyed his pork belly with noodles dish & I liked my fish with fresh samphire dish, beautifully cooked & tasty \nWe had to wait almost an hour between courses which we thought was overly long & probably seemed longer because the wicker seats are rather uncomfortable.\nGood place to go in Charlestown for a special meal \n
