Uldale Old School, Uldale, CumbriaProper Scones! Fruit scone was fresh, tasty and came with good quality jam. Ham sarnie was fine, maybe missing a bit of mustard or pickle. Homemade soup was good and tasty but came with a dissapointing bread roll. They do a cooked breakfast but you need to pre-order 24hrs. Good service, nice old school building, light and spacious with art gallery attached.

The Rake, Bassenthwaite, Keswick⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Charming Village Pub with Fantastic Food & Friendly Service! The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite is a delightful country pub full of character and warmth. Nestled in a peaceful village setting with views of Skiddaw, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day exploring the Lakes . The interior is cosy and traditional, with low ceilings, a real fire, and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent — we had the pizzas and sharing nachos, both packed with flavour and generous toppings. The salsa was especially good, and the churros for dessert were a real treat . There’s a great variety on the menu, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to accommodate us even without a booking. It’s also dog-friendly throughout, which is a big plus for walkers and families. Whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or just a drink in the beer garden, The Sun Inn offers a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in the area!

The Snooty Fox Country Inn
Uldale, WigtonWe’ve been to The Snooty Fox at least five times now and we absolutely love it. Would go as far to say it’s the best pub food I’ve ever had. The chicken and ham pie is incredible (and amazing portion size) and the burgers I’ve had have been so good. The staff are always really lovely too which makes it a pleasure to visit. We can’t wait to come back again in the Summer.
