Rivermead, Newton Reigny, PenrithWonderful pub for a meal out and a pint or two! Come here shortly after Easter for a meal out with Mrs Llama one evening after a hectic day exploring the surrounding Cumbrian countryside. We booked ahead and ate in their spacious dining room, and from the warm welcome to the satisfied departure it was a top notch experience. The service was especially friendly and helpful, and the food was quite simply excellent. Portion sizes are generous, flavoursome and exceptionally well prepared. Presentation is first class as well.
I especially enjoyed my steak and ale pie – good crust, melt in the mouth filling and served with a beautiful medley of vegetables (the leeks and sweet potatoes especially). What I sampled of Mrs Llama’s crumble pudding (I was in no need of one) was very, very tasty too. All washed down with a splendid range of non-alcoholic beverages (as a non-drinker, it’s great that pubs have lots of options beyond a pint of lemonade these days!) Thanks to our hosts and staff for a great evening – we shall hope to back again when we’re next in the area.

The Kings Arms Inn
Stainton, PenrithI often book this restaurant as it offers great value and lovely home cooked meals. It was a little on the pricey side on my last visit but other than that id return no problem.

The Clickham Inn
B5288, PenrithMyself and 5 university friends visited the Clickham Inn during a camping trip to the lakes this Easter. We all got pizzas which were delicious and excellent value for money! The atmosphere of the pub was cosy, modern, and lively!
The most standout part of our trip however was not the food but the unbelievable kindness shown to us by owners Sarah and Dave! They sheltered us from a storm which was wreaking havoc across the Lake District, spent hours chatting to us over drinks in the evening, and gave us stories which we will be telling for years to come! They absolutely went above and beyond, and we are so grateful to have come across them and the Clickham.
We would say that Sarah and Dave are the most genuine strangers we have ever met who work hard to ensure their pub is top class! We would recommend anyone in the lakes to stop by for some pizza or tapas from incredible chef Sarah!

The Boot & Shoe Inn
Greystoke, PenrithWe visited last year but only for food and drinks. Returned this year for an overnight stay. The business is clearly under new management and can honestly say the change is remarkable. We couldn't complain about anything.
