The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak Inn, Moorhouse, CarlisleTwelve of us went to celebrate my 63rd birthday. Our ages were between 4 and 89. It was my first visit here, though my daughter had been before and recommended it. I can honestly say the Sunday lunch was one of the best I've ever had. We all had standard portions, apart from one large and two small. All were generous sized. The grandchildren had kids meals. The food was piping hot, and brilliant taste and flavour. The Yorkshire pudding was just like home made - perfect. The desserts were spot on as well. The only trouble was, it was all so good that I ate too much!! The staff were most welcoming, efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was great too. It has that genuine country local feel to it. We came away well satisfied, and will certainly be back again. Highly recommended. It doesn't get better than this! *****

The Dalston Fryer
8 The Sq, Dalston, CarlisleI was a bit apprehensive due to previous takeaways while on holidays but I have to say this was 5 stars, the 1/4 cheese burger I had was very fresh and well cooked, not deep fried to a crisp like other places. And the Cumberland sausages well very tasty.
