Bridge End Service Station, Dalston, CarlisleFirst the positives - the food is delicious, the ale is good, the staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. It's also family friendly, VERY family friendly - and here's the negative. There's a large playground behind the restaurant and the door to it is at the far end, so there are kids constantly running backwards and forwards through the restaurant to get in and out. The restaurant is also about as far from cosy as you can get - it actually has a strong canteen vibe, kind of like the cafe at a zoo or theme park. If you have young kids and you just want somewhere fun to take them with good value food then it's probably up your street. If you want a nice restaurant with good atmosphere then I'd advise looking elsewhere.

Country Kitchen cafe
5 The Sq, Dalston, CarlisleFirst class customer service today. Cafe was closed when we arrived but the lovely lady agreed to serve us tea and cake in the courtyard. Scrumptious cakes too. 5 stars definitely justified for this great customer service. We've been before and will definitely be back.

The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak Inn, Moorhouse, CarlisleAmazing little country pub, great atmosphere, log burner, exceptional service and they really welcomed our dogs.
Food was excellent and the outdoor area looks like it'd be fantastic in the Summer. We will certainly be back!

14 Carlisle Rd, Dalston, CarlisleWhat a welcome find on the final few miles of my Cumbria Way walk. The service could not have been more friendly (they brought out water and chicken for my dog as I sat on the table and chairs provided outside) and it was excellent value for money - sausage baguette £4 with free hot drink.

Orton Grange Cafe & Gifts Ltd.
Orton Grange Cafe and Gifts Orton Grange, CarlisleI was doing some work near Orton Grange and needed to meet with the client ahead of the shoot - I can't say how helpful the staff were ahead of arriving (helping with WiFi etc) and how comfortable they made us. The refreshments were wonderful and the environment is fantastic. Thank you Orton Grange Cafe and Gifts!
