Absolutely brilliant dining experience from the moment we arrived. Superb service, divine food. We opted to have both supplement courses (beef fillet and parsnip cake) which were definitely worth having. Every course was heavenly! You can opt to have a wine pairing menu but we chose a bottle of Argentinian Malbec to share. We had cocktails in the bar before being taking to our table. I did not take a photo of it but the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini was divine!

Can I just say a huge thank you to the little shed Ashbourne staff. On Monday we came to celebrate a birthday with lunch. Table was reserved with a little happy birthday sign, staff sang happy birthday with a candle. Food was delicious, drinks were lovely, apparently Kinder Bueno milkshake is awesome. It is and remains one of our favourite cafes. Thank you.

We arrived at Carsington on New Years Day without a reservation for the restaurant. We joined the queue and were greeted by a brilliant gentleman. He was cheerful, positive, polite and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We watched him time and time again successfully seat different groups, moving furniture and making the restaurant work to meet different requirements. What a pleasure to see somebody who really seemed to take pride in his work and with so much positivity. I then needed to feed my little girl and he very kindly found me a space to do this. The food was delicious but what really made our experience was the gentleman who seated us. Thank you for making our New Years Day so much calmer and organised!

Slow service seemed understaffed and overbooked This all feels like ways to add profit so not keen on this. Food was good. Out of principle wouldn't return.

Had a walk through Ashbourne and came across The Bridge which is part of the Marstons company. We had dinner here and the service was very good. The tables were all clean and as it was a Monday it wasn't very busy.We had two mains of the burger with cheese and bacon, this came quickly and was very tasty and was a job to finish it all. Home made coleslaw, onion rings and chips. Everything about it was great and would definitely recommend it if you're feeling hungry.We also had the mince and onion pie again this was of the same size portion. The pie was served on a big bed of mashed potato and a generous portion of green peas. Also had a large gravy boat if you wanted to add this. The pastry was very tasty and buttery and not dry like some other places. Again a good size portion. We wanted dessert but after these we had to admit defeat and go without. Maybe next time we'll have room.

We had the absolute pleasure of booking Star Anise to cater our wedding evening meal over the bank holiday weekend, and we genuinely couldn’t recommend them more highly.

From the moment we got in touch, their professionalism and warmth stood out. They were incredibly understanding of our needs, working closely with us to tailor everything around our budget and timings, without ever compromising on the quality. Their advice and guidance were so appreciated - helping us shape the perfect evening setup with options that suited all of our guests. It truly felt like they were invested in making our day special, and that care shone through in every interaction.

And the food… just wow. It was utterly delicious and bursting with flavour. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it (many going back for seconds and thirds!), and we were over the moon to have leftovers the next morning, which made for the best post wedding-day breakfast.

Everything ran so smoothly, and it honestly took a weight off our shoulders knowing we were in such capable hands. If you’re thinking of booking them for your event - do it. You won’t regret it.

Sharon and Dave are incredibly welcoming and have done a fantastic job with the place. The pub has been nicely done up and you can see the work is still continuing to improve it.

It’s got a great atmosphere and feels like a proper traditional pub again. No food, just a good honest boozer with great people running it.

Well worth a visit if you enjoy a proper pub.

We had Sunday lunch here today. Our 3 children have additonal needs and the staff were absolutely fantastic catering for their needs.
Our youngest is a restrictive eater but the staff separated every item of food to ensure she could happily eat everything. Little touches like this make it much easier for us as a family to eat out.
The food was also fantastic and I would recommend that everyone comes here for a meal. Thanks to all the staff for their help.

When we (5 of us) arrived we didn't know it then but the young man on the car park was to set the standard fur the whole night. He was very polite, helpful, cheerful. One of the ladies helped my partner carry his chair. Everything was so well organised & explained. The night was faultless, food excellent & service fantastic. What a fabulous place. A LOT of thought, attention to detail has gone into this place. If you're reading this thinking about visiting, book it & go you won't be disappointed. We are all still telling friends about how great it was. Well done to all involved.

Very lovely cafeteria with sweet and savoury options. Had the lamb kofta flatbread for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with how much flavour it had. We had to wait 15 min but to be served but it was worth it. Shout out to their tap water being served with pomegranate, something I had never seen before.

The ambiance is cosy and relaxed, and very welcoming. Recommended.

We stopped in on a Wednesday evening around 1930 after a days hiking.
The food was absolutely beautiful, well presented and full of flavour.
The restaurant is small, which gives the name 'Basement' but romantic and cosy none the less.

All in all, if your a fan of Asian cuisin, looking for a romantic meal, or simply a lovely evening, make this one of your places to stop in Ashbourne.

After a day at Alton Towers we ended up stopping here for a quick takeaway. The guy who served us was really welcoming and friendly.

Ordered a kebab with chips and the meal was delicious! Lots of food and it was made with really high quality ingredients too. Good value for money and the next time I'm in the area I wouldn't hesitate to go back and order again.

Love this costa store as it's hidden away in one of the quiet areas of the town and the big seats in the window are a wonderful place to sit and relax and watch the world go by. My fave order is always large decaf latte with whole milk. Also love the specials like the ruby red i had at this store. Staff are friendly and helpful. Can often be a long wait, but worth it!

Popped in for a rare meal-out with my wife. Had our dog with us so ate in the bar area but it was cosy and comfortable. Wasn't disappointed with quality of the food; fish curry and 'posh' fish and chips (with the head on!), apple crumble and sticky toffee - all tasty and a little different to usual recipes. Paid a bit more than we normally would but was worth it for the food, service and atmosphere!
