Today's choices were Brown Butter, Maple and Pecan along with Rhubarb and Custard, pleasantly surprised to realize after we had eaten it that the Rhubarb and Custard was dairy free, you would never have know. Both served on the most amazing Waffle. The Local Scoop never disappoints, thank you

Sticky Rice Restaurant
2 Lawn Hill, DawlishA splendid evening for our group of 6 hearty eaters. Delicious Thai food, freshly prepared and served piping hot by friendly staff. It really was an amazing meal with plentiful portions - in fact we couldn’t quite finish everything. Highly recommended!

27 Brunswick Pl, DawlishBetter pizza than we've had at any chain ! The service man was very nice and it was only 15 mins for a dinner for four(although it was not busy at all). Prices are very worth it and there are good deals ! Would eat again.

Gurkha Restaurant
30 Park Rd, DawlishThey decorated the table and walls for my husbands birthday and gave him a free birthday cake with candles. We had a party of ten people, two of who had special dietary needs that were catered for. The welcome was warm and the food was delicious. Our friends from Exeter said they would travel to Dawlish to eat here again because it was so good.

40 Park Rd, DawlishHave been holidaying in dawlish warren for at least 6 years and have used these guys for delivery everytime, always accurate on delivery times and never had a mistake on the order, food is amazing and great value for money 4 large pizzas fees all 12 of us easily, wouldn't go anywhere else, keep up the great work guys!!!!!!

Beach Rd, Dawlish Warren, DawlishOur 3rd visit to this fabulous bar / restaurant right on the Dawlish Warren coastline. Lovely views and a fantastic dinner menu. Have visited at Halloween and Christmas now and the decorations are always fantastic. Drinks and food are tasty, plenty to choose from and reasonably priced, I had the pasta bolognaise with ragu beef which was delicious and my sons enjoyed their meals too. Friendly staff and tasty wine also - thanks for a great first night of our holiday Boathouse !

Mount Pleasant Rd, Dawlish Warren, DawlishWe had 80th birthday party for 50 people here, which we organised from another county. The email/ phone communication was great - very responsive and efficient to ensure everything was perfect on the day. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was perfectly prepared for the event. The service was just flawless and all staff was helpful and kind. We preordered finger buffet, which was variety of pub food and was just right to go with the drinks. We would come back for drinks and food again and we would definitely recommend this place for its great staff, drinks, food and beautiful location.

16 Piermont Pl, DawlishThis 'cafe' is really good. The location is perfect, with an arcade and Dawlish seafront not too far away. I did not purchase food whilst I was here, however I did purchase a drink, which I believe was either a frappe or a milkshake. It was nice and good value for money. If I were to come to Dawlish again, I would vist The Beach Bar again.

HGWR+4G, Exeter Rd, Dawlish Warren, DawlishThis is for the Takeaway Fish and Chips which isn't run by the Park. Service was great, everything cooked fresh to order so a little bit of a wait, quality was really good and it was priced in-line with other chippy's in Dawlish Warren (probably because they are all run by the same people?). Not entirely sure the fish was Cod as advertised as it had quite a watery texture not firm and meaty but it was good. One bit of advise guys, the pattred paper you use to separate the fish in the boxes needs to be print side down otherwise it turns the fish blue!!

The food was lovely, the service was attentive and respectful without ever being overbearing, and everything felt very fairly priced for the excellent snack we had. The coffee was spot on too, which rounded it all off nicely. A charming little place with warm hospitality and great quality — I’ll definitely be back!

Shooters
Sandy Ln, DawlishShooters helped me organise a charity fundraising event. They were so helpful. They suggested a race night and then organised people to run it and the printing of the programmes. I am so grateful. The night was a complete success and raised so much money. Shooters is really clean and tidy. It is also very reasonably priced. Thank you so much ??

8 Park Rd, DawlishIts a big place with a public and lounge bar and continuing upstairs to an impressive roof terrace. The staff are friendly and helpful.
There's plenty of choice of drinks to choose from.We had a quick lunch of chilli beef baked potato with salad that was delicious and nicely presented. The menu has plenty to choose from.
We will definitely be visiting the Lansdowne from now on when in town.

Unfortunately they don't have a GLUTEN-FREE menu but they will make changes to accomidate such as swapping chips for rice or sautéed potatoes. But its nice to see the accommodations and have options. Great selection of tasty looking cakes but I would recommend the Baileys Delight ice-cream Sunday.

Strand Hill, DawlishI actually thought this place was a cracker once I got over the trauma of the hill up to it. I should have went from the other side for less strain on the bod. It was not too busy on my visit and the beer was good with friendly locals and a pub the tourists may miss but worth the journey.

20-22 Queen St, DawlishWonderful chips shop here in Dawlish, a bit tucked away from the main seafront area but we'll worth the effort to fid it. Chips piping hot fluffy middles and crisp on the outside. Fish a good size and well cooked, no soggy batter, all crisp. Get the takeaway and wander back to the park to eat on a bench by the river. Don't forget to dispose of the wrapping paper and tray in one of the many bins in the area.

My parents always order from here when I'm down visiting, food has always been high quality.
Reason for 4* review is the very recent (August 2024) increase in prices by up to £2 PER DISH! I've attached screenshots of the new menu.
I appreciate this is a coastal town so expect to pay a little more, but almost £10 per dish is a little excessive. Have your competitors increased by the same margins? If not I feel you may end up losing some business.

The Old Mill Tea Room
23 Brunswick Pl, DawlishWhat a stunning little tea room this is! We were on a day trip down to Dawlish and looking for a light bite, we came across The Old Mill Tea Room. With an old styled interior with a cosy feel, it felt really personal and the staff in there were excellent too. Everyone an incredibly friendly and accommodating as we’re a family of 7 including 2 children and nothing was too much trouble to find us a table. The staff really took the time out to interact with the children! As for the food, portion size is very much value for money and more. Incredibly fresh and insanely tasty sandwiches and panini’s. If you ever find yourself in dawlish, you have to pop by! We certainly will next time we’re here!

The Strand Cafe
15 The Strand, Dawlish1st time I visited mid-week for a coffee and a ciggy. Sat outside watching the world go by - decided I'd have a small breakfast as well as coffee. Lovely local produce, information on board inside as to source. Piping hot and cooked well - staff very attentive, but not in your face. Repeated again on the Sat as I had an hour to kill before train home - very busy, but still the great service and food - I did notice a 5 star notice, well deserved.
