Small world restaurant and tapas bar

We love our tapas restaurants but we've not come across one quite like this little gem.
Whilst searching online we came across this place.
The menu looked interesting with some unsual dishes.
They also had a midweek offer of 2 tapas and 1 side for £20. Plus 2 for £14 cocktails.
So we thought,lets give it a try and booked a table.
The restaurant is located in the town, about a ten minute walk from the hotel we were staying at.
On arrival we were shown to our table in the window.
Whilst deciding on the menu we ordered a couple of cocktails.
We had to kick off with the Bread Bag.
Homemade bread served in a bag,which you have to rip open to release the smokey scent of roasted garlic and rosemary.
Followed by Brixham scallops served with Spanish beef black pudding.
Then grilled padron peppers hung on a tree with a side of allioli.
The next dish was Asian brisket croque monsieur.
That's not very Spanish is it?
Slow cooked beef brisket marinated in an asian inspired sauce,sandwiched and fried in beef dripping with gruyere cheese served with a mushroom and marmalade dipping sauce.
OMG.This was absolutely insane.
The flavours were incredible. A knockout dish.
After that a book was placed in front of us.
We had totally forgot we had ordered the
Book of meat - alicious.
It's literally an anti-pasti book filled with some of the most delicious meats sliced fresh and placed in the pages.As you flick through,theres different delights from Spain,Italy and Devon.
Served with homemade bread and oil.
We finished with an affogato and coffee.
This was a tapas with a difference and a great find.
Front of house Ollie was very charming and the chef dished out some exceptional food.
We shall certainly return next time we are down this way and would urge anyone to give this small independent the support it deserves.

Abbey Crescent, 4 Abbey Sands, Torbay Rd, TorquayWe came for a meal and drinks for my birthday and our server Teah made everything so special. She recommended drinks and catered to all our needs. She is very attentive and friendly. Food was great aswell!!

3&4 Beacon Hill, TorquayWe have been to The Elephant many times, having moved to Devon from London a few years ago. The food, service and general ambience of this establishment is first class. I cannot recommend it highly enough, especially the tasting menu.

TURKISH KEBAB & PIZZA
38 Tor Hill Rd, TorquayCalled in while visiting my elderly mother for a cold drink and a taxi number. The owner rang a taxi for us which had a 45 minute wait so he gave us a lift in his own car! He would not accept any money off us. We were overwhelmed by his act of kindness and we won't forget him in a hurry....thankyou so much...you're a star ✨️

The Thatched Tavern
Steep Hill, Maidencombe, TorquayThis is a lovely pub near the village green.
Food and drinks: We had a Saturday dinner with drinks. We had the fish pie, burgers - these were home made and to a lovely standard.
This is just off the South West Coast Path. Tastefully decorated and great customer service. Recommend

6 Park Ln, TorquayLovely pub ideally located a very short walk from Torquay Harbour. The food was excellent (the braised lamb in particular) and it has a real old-fashioned charm to the place. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Torquay.

Ate there once- I had the burger with mushrooms and truffle which was very savoury (just as I like it). Highly recommend and I thank them for their hospitality.

Victoria Parade, TorquayWe visited Rockfish Torquay after a good experience at the Dartmouth branch earlier in the year and was not disappointed. It was New Year’s Eve and they were short staffed but you could not tell apart from the way the staff were flying around making sure everyone was looked after on a busy night. Rockfish - those 3 staff deserve a bonus for that night. Could not fault them or the food. The monkfish scampi starter was lovely as were the tacos and the seafood gratin. The only slight disappointment were the chips were not as good as Dartmouth but we only ate a few so no issue.

Seafront, Belgrave Rd, TorquayWe had a celebratory meal at the Beefeater in Torquay. The food was lovely and the waitress Daisy-May was so accommodating. She was so patient with our son who was struggling with his food. We have neurodiverse children and meal times can often be stressful. Daisy-May made it much easier. If management see this.. Give her a pay rise!!!

HONG KITCHEN Chinese Takeaway
135 St Marychurch Rd, TorquayI haven't had a takeaway from here in ages. Pre-ordered on our way home for evening delivery. It arrived 5 minutes early. The food was well cooked and tasty. Not too salty, the sauces were good too, none of those over thickened gloopy ones you sometimes find. Enjoyed my meal.

Beacon Quay, Torquayhad an excellent meal over bank holiday weekend despite not booking staff went above and beyond to make sure we felt happy and comfy and had all we needed to have a relaxing food experience. as someone recovering from an eating disorder and with autism and adhd I have sensory issues and the staff did not make me feel on edge and went extra miles to ensure we had all we needed and a private place we could sit and be calm and eat our food :-) Emily C and manager Stefan on shift were soth so so lovely warm hearted amd non judgemental and excellent at their job. humane and how and warm people and made our experience what it was ♡ a big thankyou we will come again and again and hopefully when here from Plymouth make this our regular and staff who know exactly how we like it ♡ thankyou. the fish is delicious too and having been the first time trying haddock in variation to cod from other favorite Rock fish very happy we choose to dine here as somewhere new ♡♡

167 St Marychurch Rd, TorquayOnly ever collected as I'm out of the delivery area. You can park outside but it's usually busy so it can be hard to get a space. Other than that the staff have always been friendly.The food is usually good. Garlic bread is a bit hit and miss at times in terms of freshness and the Deep Pan pizzas are very oily but I guess that comes down to personal preference - that's just my opinion.I'd still get pizza from here :)Parking: On street parking but often busy.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair friendly.

145 St Marychurch Rd, Torquayfood is amazing, best it torquay, I recommend it chicken is always high quality and the sauces are gery aronoatic and flavourful, and are amazing, the naan breads are cooked fresh and are large too, a little pricy but the quality of ingredients speak to that, speed of delivery is impressive considering what I ordered too,

This turned out to be a win!
Much quieter, big+ for someone who wears hearing aids & a beautiful view of sun setting across the harbour.
Huge wine list.

The Offshore Bar and Restaurant
13-14 Vaughan Rd, TorquayJust dropped in for a coffee, but couldn't resist the scrumptious cake on the next table. Yes it did taste as good as it looked, the coffee had a great taste, not wishy washy.
Would certainly recommend the Offshore to friends & family, the lady who served us was friendly & quick with a sense of humour .
