IlfracombeGreat place for a family meal. 9 of us, including 7 adults, 2 infants plus 2 dogs, turned up without a booking at 5pm on a Sunday. Tiffany was incredibly helpful in accommodating us, helping us all settle and keeping us well looked after. The array of food ordered was all excellent and well priced. Highly recommended.

Tandoori Night
13-14, High St, IlfracombeWhile staying in Illfracombe, we visited tandori nights indian restaurant. I can honestly say it was one of the best Indian meals I have had. If there is anyone out there looking for a decent Indian, I can recommend you try this one. You won't be dissappointed.

61-62 High St, IlfracombeExcellent food. On the photo is the Monster Burger, Plan Hot Dog, Dougie Burger, Kids Pizza and Chips, Pork Dog and the Sharing Platter. Totally stuffed after eating it all but well worth it and the prices were fantastic.

39 Beach Rd, Hele Bay, IlfracombeThis pub is an amazing local to the community. We travelled here over Christmas and they were so lovely! We had drinks one day and bingo/food on Boxing Day. I would highly recommend this pub and such a lovely atmosphere even when you’re not a local. We took our dog both times and they were so welcoming to us and him ❤️?

Spice lounge Indian cuisine
36 Greenclose Rd, IlfracombeMy partner and I stay near Ilfracombe a few times a year and we can’t believe we’ve never tried this restaurant, particularly because of our love for Indian food. The service was fantastic from all of the staff, but Ahmed in particular was really personable and helpful. The food was amazing, from the poppadoms to the prawn puri and onion Bhaji starters. We had a curry each - lamb tikka passanda and lamb tikka madras, a cheese and garlic naan and a peshwari naan, keema rice and chips. With the generous portion sizes meaning we couldn’t finish it, Ahmed kindly gave us containers to take it away in. All of the food was hot and super tasty with everything having different flavours (which you don’t find with some Indian restaurants), and with a number of nice cold beers each we were very pleasantly surprised at the bill! Thank you guys for a great meal, we will definitely be returning whether it’s to eat in or take away!

6 The Quay, IlfracombeThe fish and chips were brilliant! Everything was freshly cooked.
The cod was up there with the freshest that I've had.
The chips were easily 9/10 and the mushy peas were just how I liked them, the perfect amount of mush without them being completely blended.
The only downside to my visit was, I wanted to sit inside and eat. When my food was ready it had been wrapped up, I asked if I could eat inside and I was told it costs extra.
I don't have a problem with this, but it would have made sense to ask me if I wanted to eat in or take out in the beginning.
There was nobody else in the shop.
It did make me feel slightly unwelcome.
So for that reason alone I wouldn't go back there even though the food was great.

144 High St, IlfracombeWhen visiting the area we sadly found no takeaways open in the town at all after 9.30 pm but then we found munchies. What a life saver we were hungry and went in. We all chose different food and waited for it to be ready. We only had to wait around 20 minutes which is good as we had not pre ordered. The only negative I found we the girl who was taking our order went and stood by the door vaping while our food was cooking by others out the back. When the girl came back to the front desk she never washed her hands and then handed us our food order. I was expecting the food to be ok average and nothing to shout about but I was wrong. I throughly enjoyed my meal and everyone else liked there’s. Thank you for being open and an enjoyable meal.

8 St James Pl, IlfracombeFood was excellent, and the service was great. The staff were all super friendly and had great conversation; they are really nice people who seem to enjoy working there. Understanding of allergies - I had the gluten free BBQ burger and fries and it was delicious! Gluten free bun was a good texture and didn't get soggy or fall apart. The burger itself was super juicy and tasted great. Would definitely reccomend.

Hillsborough Rd, IlfracombeNice pub, lively atmosphere. Was nice to have a seating area upstairs where it was a bit quieter as there was a large group downstairs. Staff were all really friendly & alerted us there could be a wait on the food because of the large group. However I wouldn’t have realised if she didn’t say as the food came out in a timely manner. Food was as expected but didn’t wow me. Car park is a bit tight and not many spaces.

17 St James Pl, IlfracombeLovely shady place to stop for a coffee , sandwich or afternoon tea. Service at a lovely and relaxed. There’s space to relax unlike a lot of the places down by the harbour. Highly recommend. Serving Costa coffee and a lovely cream tea and you can even have Costa coffee with your scone. Perfect !?? They also have a kids menu , out youngest had fish fingers and chips so there’s something for everyone.

My husband and I visited Ilfracombe for our 1 year anniversary and a few weeks before, I caught wind of this place and was lucky enough to get a table for 2 on a Saturday evening. My husband is vegetarian and I am a picky pescatarian and there was plenty on the menu for both of us. The food was really delicious, home cooked but prepared and served with professional style. We absolutely loved the aesthetic of the restaurant, it's intimate and beautifully put together. It was the best table service I believe I've ever had and we even had a chat with Carol the owner/chef about Sheffield, which she knew well. Whilst I understand they are now booked up until Christmas, if you ever get the chance to go, we would highly recommend it. What. A. Find.
Vegetarian options: I finished with the fruit cake and cheese. Oh my god so good.

Castle St, Combe Martin, IlfracombeMy wife and I called in for Dinner my first impression was that it was very quiet, however the locals and the staff were very friendly and quite happy to chat. We decided to try the steak I had a ribeye and she who shall be obeyed had the sirloin. The chief a South African chap came out and had a chat he took our order and he could not have done it better the food was excellent made fresh to order. If you are in Combe Martin don't be put off with the negative ninny reviews, or that its a bit shabby sheik its a nice place and you should try it I will definitely be back next time I am in Combe Martin.

The Quay, IlfracombeThree of us came in tonight 25.10.25 for dinner at 5.15. We ordered the Salmon, Chicken au Poivre and Gammon. We all enjoyed our meals, service was quick and the young girl was very friendly. My chicken was moist and the peppercorn sauce delicious, plates were warm too which is a bonus.
Pudding was cheesecake, fresh strawberries and I had chocolate ice cream with big chunks of chocolate yum!
We finished it off with coffee and agreed the food was delicious and we will be back.

Wilder Rd, IlfracombeFood was great, me and my brother loved the sweet and sour chicken and the beef in black bean sauce I think it was, bad reviews are misleading, waitress was kind and was quick to bring our drinks and take our drink order. The roof is not “mouldy” or “falling down” it’s merely just water leaks. It’s quite a pleasant atmosphere, fresh food comes out every few minutes and okay selection, there’s ice cream and cake and stuff for after! It’s a nice place and I totally recommend, we did not get sick or get salmonella like it said in one review. It was overall pretty good and enjoyed it! Would go again, and no you don’t pay £37 for a drink. Bad reviews outrageously incorrect. Recommend the chips and beef! And sweet and sour chicken!

The Castle Inn, Pub and Beer Garden
High St, Combe Martin, IlfracombeBig pub, lots of space, lovely beer garden, Friendly service, friendly locals. We were planning to eat at pack o’cards down the road, but their chef didn’t start until 5.30pm and we were starving so we called the castle inn, asked if they did food, they didn’t but advised we could bring take out food in, so we got a pizza, ate it in the beer garden and got some drinks, no drama. Would happily return for drinks and the traditional pub atmosphere
