We were taken out by some family members to our favourite local restaurant last night and have to say it goes from strength to strength. The whole experience from entering the restaurant from the initial greeting from the owners is warm and the enthusiasm throughout the evening never wains. The food is absolutely top notch and a cheeky Efes or glass of wine compliments the meal.
Five stars ⭐️ from us.

The Heathfield Tavern

It is always a must to dine here when up visiting mum. The food the service and the atmosphere just brings me back. Tonight's hospitality prompted me to write a review, thank you all for another lovely evening out.

The Cock Inn

Had Sunday lunch here today with our son and daughter in law who have just moved to the area..we'd passed by once or twice but also had it recommended to us. I have to say the food and service were superb . We'll definitely visit again !

The Swan Inn

Proper country Pubs like The Swan at DALLINGTON. Have in the context of the great financial strain this present government are placing on them. Have growing community and local facility importance.
Great authentic Food and Service and friendly customers. What more could you want. Long May it continue and well done to them.

Golden Rice Bowl

Visited here for the first time today 13/05/2026 food was lovely, I especially liked the chicken chop suey, the chicken in our chicken fried rice was really nice and soft, not rubbery like a lot of Chinese takeaways, the chicken balls were the biggest of all the chicken balls I've had, and the chicken inside was all the way upto the batter, other chicken balls I've cup into, its been a small bit of chicken and there is an air gap between the batter and chicken, BBQ ribs were good, no chewy bits and the noodles we had were flaver full.

Highly recommended this Chinese takeaway, I will be returning.

Butchers Hook Cafe

Cannot recommend this place enough!! Very welcoming, great food. Parking round the back banging coffee, nothing bad to say about this place only great things. I will 100% be coming back here as i have family in the area. Get here and eat asap!!

The Brewers Arms

Generous portions and really tasty food. Interesting menu. Atmospheric and friendly staff. Small but cosy with lovely touches eg fresh flowers on tables, candles.
Definitely would return and highly recommend.

The Runt In Tun

Fab walk along the cuckoo trail and then a nice pint and pizza here. Simple place with simple pizza but the simple formula always works! Staff were really friendly and more than happy to help and do what you needed them to do! Definitely recommend and return!

Cuculo Cheese & Wine

There was an issue with one of my purchases. This was resolved swiftly after the problem was brought to their attention. My other purchases from the deli and the freshly cooked pizza were delicious. Thank you :)

The Half Moon Inn

Just had Sunday roast at this lovely pub. It was amazing, really home cooked and tasty. Generous portion sizes. Would highly recommend and we will be going back. Very good value too at £16.95 for roast dinner and a delicious home made pud.The staff were so nice and loved that the Landlord who is also the chef, came out to say hello and take our order. One very pleasant way to spend a Sunday lunch time.

Piazza

Our go to for chicken kebabs. We have ordered from here for the past few years and the nice consistency has always been repeated. We ordered this evening and again really nice chicken and the nicest chilli sauce. Thank you Piazza.

Lakeside Horam

My Friends and I went to the Lakeside to try their quiz night. despite the fact that we as a team were useless we had a wonderful, fun filled evening. \n\nThe hostess of the quiz was witty and patient with us, the other staff were attentive and polite. \n\nHaving eaten there before i knew that the service would be great, our food was tasty, on hot plates with decent portions. \n\nThank you Lakesiude team, we will be back! already booked onto the next quiz! xx

Wonderful service , amazing staff very wholesome and welcoming. Was fantastic will definitely be back again. Definitely recommend the katsu chicken bowl deliciousssss ☺️

Bombay Spice

We ordered takeaway food and it arrived within an hour and was warm and yummy. The delivery driver was lovely and polite. The bombay potatos were extra good. The portion sizes were good, would have loved more samosas though as only 2 in a pack. Overall recommended.

Taylors Fish Bar

Proper chippies made by a humble family. The recipe and techniques came from the previous owner who has now retired. The reviews, ratings, and queue speak for themselves.

They also have bulletin boards for local businesses to advertise on, as well as a pay-it-forward kind of scheme where paid for meals are given to the needy instead of pocketed. These are honest hardworking folk who give back to the community, I love them.

Volkan Grill

I recently visited Volkan Kebab and honestly it ended up being one of the most satisfying takeaway experiences I’ve had in a long time.

From the moment you walk in, the place feels welcoming rather than rushed — which is rare for a busy kebab shop. The staff greet you properly, not just a quick “what do you want,” and they actually take a moment to help if you’re undecided. You can tell they have regular customers because people come in and chat comfortably while waiting, which always says a lot about a local food spot.

The menu is broad but not confusing. All the classic kebab options are there — doner, chicken shish, kofte, mixed grills — plus burgers, wraps, and sides. I went for a mixed kebab in a durum wrap with garlic sauce and chilli sauce, and added chips and a drink. The portion size was generous — not one of those places that hides a small portion under lots of salad. You genuinely get value for money.

The meat quality stood out immediately. The doner tasted properly seasoned rather than greasy, and the chicken shish was juicy and freshly grilled — you could actually taste the char from the grill instead of just salt. Everything tasted freshly prepared rather than pre-cooked and reheated, which makes a massive difference. The durum wrap was fresh and soft, holding everything together perfectly without tearing or going soggy.

Salad was fresh and crisp, especially the lettuce and cucumber, and the sauces were well balanced. The garlic sauce was creamy but not overpowering, and the chilli sauce had flavour rather than just heat — a surprisingly rare thing. They didn’t drown the food in sauce either; it was layered so you could still taste the meat.

The chips were also better than expected — golden, fluffy inside and not soggy, even after the drive home. Packaging held heat well and nothing leaked, which is a small detail but makes a big difference when ordering takeaway.

Another thing worth mentioning is cleanliness. The counter area and prep space looked tidy and organised, and you could see staff regularly wiping surfaces and working methodically rather than chaotically. That gives confidence in the food quality.

Service speed was very good considering they were busy. Orders were handled in order and fairly quickly without feeling rushed. The staff remained polite throughout, even with multiple customers waiting — no stress or shouting like some takeaway environments.

Price-wise, it sits exactly where it should: affordable but not suspiciously cheap. For the portion size and freshness, it feels fair, and honestly better value than many bigger chain takeaways.

Overall, Volkan Kebab feels like a proper community takeaway — reliable, friendly, and consistent. I’d recommend it to anyone in the Heathfield area looking for a welcoming local place and good overall experience, not just for the food but for the service and atmosphere too.

Heathfield Tandoori

Got a takeaway for the first time tonight, walked up to the restaurant and ordered waited about 15 minutes and had a drink and chatted to staff who seemed really friendly, got home and food was really tasty will definitely be coming back and recommending to anyone else in Heathfield.

Sapphire Star

Really such a good takeaway ran by the most kindest people!! The food was amazing and I was craving more when i finished. Fresh and piping hot!! Quick delivery and overall really good service! Will be ordering soon again, maybe even when I host family dinners ??

Yaw's Kitchen

I have lived in many places across England and Scotland and this is my favourite local Chinese kitchen. The business is owned and run by a lovely young family. Honest prices and excellent portions! It's always a good day when I get to have something from Yaw's.

Curry Inn

I have been coming to The Curry Inn for over 10 years. Always great food. I prefer to eat in the restaurant, but when I get a take away it always arrives correct and on time. Keep up the good work guys !!

The Star Inn

What an absolute find! We had the most excellent evening meal in this warm and welcoming pub, with well-kept Harvey's and a deliciously original house red. We will be hurrying back as soon as we are allowed to...

Domino's Pizza - Heathfield

Ordered these two pizzas and they were both amazing. Not only that’s but the customer service I received was excellent. Such friendly people. 10/10 would recommend.

Superstar

Recently did a Chinese comparison between Superstar and Yaw’s Kitchen, Superstar came out on top. Incredible mains, love the free prawn crackers and always reliable and dependable. Recommend the Singapore Chow Mein, so tasty :)
