The Basilica Restaurant

The waiters and the chef were really nice and helpful and were ensuring we were enjoying our lunch and checking if we needed anything else. They also had good advice on what to get. Would really recommend and come again.

My Kitchen

So worth the money, I don’t regret visiting. Will definitely come again. A specific worker is Gabi, she was wonderful and so were everyone else?

The Cork Dork

Who needs anything else? Lovely staff, made us very welcome and worked do hard. Live music made the afternoon all the more enjoyable. Catered for dietry requirements well and didn't make me feel like it was a bother, which some places do. Will definitely be going again. Thank you.

Il Mondo Southend
326-328 London Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaWe visited this restaurant after a matinée at Cliffs Pavilion to have a meal from their fixed price two course menu, which seemed good value (£17.95 per head including a beer or soft drink). We received a very friendly greeting, and had a wonderful meal. The helpings were generous - we expected them to be scaled down because of the low price, but that was not the case. We both had an amazing pasta starter, and gorgeous lamb in rosemary and red wine main course, which came with plenty of lovely lean and tender lamb. Would highly recommend, and will return when we next go to Southend.
Parking: We parked at Hamlet Court car park, a minute's walk away. No charge after 6pm. Plenty of space.

SoPa Thai Westcliff
330 London Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaA warm welcome by the staff and a lovely comfortable atmosphere in the restaurant. The food is amazing.
I had the Tom Yum soup to start, followed by the Sweet and Sour Thai Chicken and I must say that every mouthful of food was delightful.
The restaurant also offer cooking classes and I will definitely be back again soon.

Tara Thai restaurant

We ordered the chick satay started which was so light and the sauce was perfect.
For mains we had the chef recommend chilli and lime sea bass, and sides of pad Thai with prawn and a special fried rice. The seabass was incredible and so beautifully presented, the pad Thai and rice also beautifully full of flavours. Cannot fault this restaurant at all. In fact we recently visited Ivy Asia in St Paul’s which didn’t have the authenticity of Tara’s. Well done and thank for you for a lovely evening in our local area.

Saltwater Beach Cafe
111 Chalkwell Esplanade, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaA fabulous, friendly and welcoming cafe down on Shoebury East Beach. Great atmosphere and the best staff. They even went out of their way to buy gluten free products after I enquired if this could be something they would add to their menu. This place has definitely become mine and my family’s go to location. .

Cafe O Portugues
55 Hamlet Ct Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaWhen I was living in Westcliff on sea this was my local cafe. I am Spanish and it felt like a bit of home! Service is always great (the nicest waiters!) and coffee too.
You can rarely find a cortado around the area and they would make it for me every time.
I had English fried up breakfast which is also really good and the pastries are delicious!

Anke's Tea and Coffee Lounge
481 London Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaThis is a cosy, friendly spot for a meet up with friends. We come here regularly for coffee. We sometimes have cake or toast and all of these things are delicious. I don't know anything about their wider menu.
One thing: remember to bring cash as there's a charge for card payments.

Wilsons coffee

Madeira Cafe
71A Hamlet Ct Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaVery relaxed Café with a huge variety on their menu. There are some traditional Portuguese food alongside some of the British favourites.
The coffee is pretty good, the staff is friendly and there is outdoor seating available.
Personally, you should try the codfish cakes (Bolinhos de Bacalhau) as they tasted hot and fresh and would definitely come back for more of them.

Huge portions very fair prices and very clean all round a great cafe the owner takes pride in getting fresh bread and meats daily.

Curry Pot

Oyster Creek Kitchen
6 Western Esplanade, Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-SeaCame here in July when we had a heatwave. The place was lovely chilled vibes with excellent service overlooking the sea. It was my first time trying oysters i recommend they were fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the lobster roll also for mains. Well worth a visit with friends.

The Trading Room Bar & Kitchen

So, we had set menu dinner with dessert/drinks at Padrino on a Monday night, this is our first time dining in here, beautiful restaurant, absolutely generous portion size and quick service. All the members of staff are very friendly, make you feel super welcomed, one of the ladies who serviced us explained what’s the special today, how is the coffee made etc etc whenever I was curious about the things on the menu, she was soooooo nice already can’t wait to come back next time??

The food was absolutely unreal and the staff were super friendly and helpful. My daughters loved it as much as we did! So I went back with my boyfriend and children and the food was spot on again, lots of choices for drinks too. So clean in there and spacious. It is honestly one of the best places myself and boyfriend have been for a roast and we are always eating out! Will be back plenty more times for food and definitely a night out there! Xx
