Hat’s off to one of my son’s pals, who suggested Sombreros and Sangrías at the Mexican Bar & Grill.
The vibrant décor and the aroma of sizzling fajitas hit you the moment you step inside this tucked-away gem near Wallasey’s shopping centre.
Also offering a warm welcome are the prices — we went for the two-course deal, available seven days a week. It even includes a vegan menu.
First up: a beer for the three lads, while I demonstrated a touch of class — or so I told myself — with a glass of rosé.
As we mulled over the menu, talk turned once again to birdies — but mostly bogeys. I’ve only recently picked up a club and am still refining my shank shots, though that’s not something to brag about.
The hospitality here is as generous as the portions. Our hostess served each dish like a love letter — and we accepted every one with gratitude.
To start, BBQ spare ribs glazed in a lustrous sauce — not typical Mexican fare, but lip-smacking all the same. Then came a platter of chicken and beef taquitos, dusted with fresh spices, herbs, and cheese, accompanied by crisp salad and salsa.
Chimichangas followed — pulled pork and beef wrapped in soft corn tortillas, fire-kissed and topped with a flourish of fresh salsa. They vanished in no time, hoovered up with relish.
My chilli prawn salad was the surprise standout: the prawns wonderfully glazed, embracing the plate with warmth and heat, each bite a small celebration.
Our hostess was courtesy itself — prompt, attentive, and full of good cheer. The service was slick, the smiles genuine, and the atmosphere just what you’d want on a Friday night: lively without being loud, relaxed but full of colour. A perfect post-golf haven.

7 Marine Point, New Brighton, WallaseyHad a lovely meal at Cappadocia for my Daughters birthday. The staff were brilliant and brought out our cake to music and sang happy birthday. The food is authentic and delicious, while being reasonably priced with a wide variety of dishes. This was our second visit-an excellent Turkish dining experience!

78 Victoria Rd, New Brighton, WallaseyHad a lovely pre-theatre meal here. The staff were very welcoming and the menu was big enough for plenty of choice but not too big to be overwhelming. We did not have a lot of time to spare so we did not have starters. I am pescatarian but I had the vegetarian burger. It was substantial and tasty and came with lovely fat chips and coleslaw. Really enjoyed it but perhaps would have liked a little salad with it. My friend had a chicken dish and it hit the spot. Pudding wise I think there were 4/5 to choose from and tbh they didn't really grab us (personal taste) but we shared a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and it was a large portion and very nice. We had a large glass of a nice Marlborough white and a lovely blush. Without the tip it worked out at £30 each. Everything that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, and was really well presented. It was a really nice experience. The staff were very accommodating of our need to be able to leave by a certain time, but the service never felt rushed. We were only sorry that we did not have more time to spend but will ensure we do on our next visit. It probably only has about 30 covers so make sure you book.

Elachi Indian restaurant in Liscard Wallasey
59 Seaview Rd, Liscard, WallaseyI visited this restaurant today and I’m honestly blown away! From the moment I walked in, everything was just perfect. The décor is absolutely beautiful — warm, inviting, and full of character, which really adds to the whole experience.
The food… wow. Every single dish was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. You can really tell the quality of the ingredients and the skill in the cooking. On top of that, the portion sizes were very generous, which made it even better value.
A special thank you to the waiter, Tambir, who provided excellent service throughout. His attention to detail, friendliness, and professionalism really stood out and made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place more — amazing food, fantastic service, and a beautiful atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back! and I felt so happy just being there!

Very quiet but that’s great for us with our sister in law.
The staff were amazing and even when my sister in law changed her mind on her main course as it arrived, they were quick to reassure us not to worry and made the change hassle free.
All the food was amazing. The garlic bread with tomatoes was outstanding as were all the other meals.
Lovely restaurant and well worth a visit.

It's a small place and I think they have limited staff, but I can understand why. The food was TEN. Massive portions, fresh as you can get, tasty, hot and really really nice. We moved to seacombe about 18 months ago and been struggling to find the right chippy/Chinese and I can safely say that we've found it. 10/10/10/10

Part of the Craft Union chain, and best of all they had TAYLORS LANDLORD, the finest beer in the world. Entertainment throughout the week, pool table and footy on the telly. Five Stars!!

Was able to book a table in advance so no wait. Stollies was comfortably busy but there is never a 'rushed' atmosphere even when full. The recipe is just right !

coronation building, 14-15 Wallasey Rd, Liscard, WallaseyA prime example of why fast delivery is not always the best. I ordered some food and it arrived within 20 minutes, however one of the drinks was missing.
This is not the first time this has happened to me. Luckily the woman on the phone was helpful so I came round to pick the drink up and they offered me some free chicken to make up for it.
