Dunnington, YorkI start way too many if my reviews with Wow, but this is a WOWWWW!
I love a good fish and chips, however for most of us we put up with burnt or undercooked chips and limp soggy fish and we just except that as the norm, however restaurant will change all that!
You could just as easily miss this unassuming building on layby near York, however you will kick yourself if you do.
The interior was impeccably clean (for a fish and chips restaurant) and staff were chatty and friendly, even showing me the box sizes so I was better able to choose the size meal I wanted. Food was cooked fresh and served piping hot.
I ordered the mini cod and chips and I would say it was the perfect size for a person for tea. The chips were....drum roll please...cooked to perfection and golden brown and fluffy. The fish was batter just enough to be crispy but not too much to hold too much grease.
I can see why this place has won awards and they deserve them.

Monks Cross, Kiosk 3, Vangarde Retail Park, Martello Way, HuntingtonBest cafe around. Staff and management are very welcoming. Very clean. Great selection of drinks and food. Always a smile to greet you.

The Bothy
Dean's Garden Centre, Stockton Ln, Stockton on the Forest, YorkWhat a delightful cafe adjoining a lovely garden centre!
We visited on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon, after we thought might be rush hour but were seemingly wrong. Obviously this is a popular spot for folks to get a bit to eat and drink!
Thankfully we didn’t have to queue long as the assistant asked if we minded sitting outside, which given the lovely weather we actually preferred. After getting our table I then proceeded to the counter to order our food - a toasted tea cake and coffee, and a Dean’s burger complimented by a raspberry lemonade. The cashier apologised for the wait we might have to endure, but luckily despite the crush of customers we were served in remarkably short order.
The food was delicious, filling, and overall fantastic quality! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the place is very comfortable.

Pear Tree Farm - Dining & Carvery
Monks Cross Dr, Huntington, YorkI fully enjoyed my carvery after a long time in here , there was all my favourites veggies to go with delicious and nice slices of beef and gammon . It was nice chat with our server Sully who storey us how he designed the new feedback leaflet ? good job mate

M&S Café
Unit A, Vangarde Retail Park, Martello Way, Huntington, YorkJust had the best veggie breakfast in a very long time. Avo, Halloumi, two whole poached eggs that look like boiled eggs, hash browns, beans, toast and a field mushroom.
I had a coffee as well. The staff were excellent, especially Eddie who is always a pleasure to deal with. The place was spotless.

Highwayman Cafe
A64, A64, YorkHighwayman Cafe didn't let us down. Four of us came here for a Sunday breakfast after a disppointing experience elsewhere the day before. It was 10ish, busy with cars and people outside, but plenty of seats in and not a long wait. Friendly staff. The food was amazing, with tweaks to the traditional breakfast done to suit our adjustments/dislikes. It finished off our weekend away with friends nicely before we parted ways. We will definitely return in future.
