Capplemans Fish and Chips
11 Market Pl, PickeringWe have been staying in Pickering for a couple of days but hadn’t taken much notice of this restaurant/take away. Yesterday evening I walked the dog up the Market Place and could see that they were busy, tables were full and people were collecting take away so we decided to give it a try for tea this evening. We weren’t disappointed!!
From the moment that we walked in we knew that we were onto a winner. The staff team all knew what they were doing, customer service was excellent, lots of smiles, very welcoming. We had a traditional Haddock and chips and a scampi and chips. The fish was fresh and the batter on the fish was light and crispy, the chips were great. I cannot remember the last time either of us enjoyed fish and chips more. The restaurant was spotless (including the toilet facilities - a bit of a hang up of mine so I always check them out).
We live two and a half hours away but I would be happy to drive back up to Pickering to eat here again ??

NOSH
1 Burgate, PickeringA proper cosy little cafe in the heart of Pickering. With a pleasantly higgledy-piggledy that's really warm and charming. But not only that coeliacs and people on a gluten free diet rejoice because the staff will really look after you well. They can let you know what they can and cannot do and have a great understanding of cross contamination. I had a tuna cheese and red onion panini which I was reassured was cooked in parchment paper on a sandwich press. So while they do not claim to have a full gluten free kitchen due to the their size they demonstrate great understanding and care in reducing cross contamination.
The panini by the way was excellent. Filled really well with quality tuna, cheese and onions. And I had a awesome strawberry milkshake made with local ice cream to go with it.
My dad would have loved to gotten the sausage, egg and cheese muffin but we arrived too late! That's on us of course. So make sure you check the times if that tickles your fancy!
Thank you to the team for making me feel really comfy and reassured while visiting somewhere new.

The Middleton Arms
Church Ln, PickeringWe called In to the Middleton arms after reading some reviews. We didn’t book but they were still happy to serve us and explained we would have a little wait. We also had our 2 dogs with us. They made us all feel really welcome. They brought a bowl of water out for our dogs and had a couple of treats for them. I ordered the steak pie, my wife and daughter both went for the cheese burger. The pie was probably one of the best pies I have ever had. Served with chips, veg and gravy. The chips are home cooked and again probably the best chips I have ever had. I tried some of the cheese burger and that too was excellent and served with the same chips. I highly recommend the Middleton arms and we will return next time we are in the area.

We sat out in the garden and as they are dog friendly we brought our whippet in with us only to find all the other whippet owners too! A lovely garden to sit out in and enjoy the nice weather.

Potter Hill Fish & Chip Shop
13 Potter Hill, PickeringIt was very busy when we arrived. We ordered our food and it was ready in about 15 minutes. I had fish and chips with scraps and they were delicious. Chips were nicely cooked, not like the blanched offerings at some places. The fish was nice and white and the batter was crisp and golden. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Well worth a visit.

Figaros
2 Birdgate, PickeringWe been to Whitby and on the way in Pickering we saw Figaos Italian restaurant. I was with my husband and my daughters. Luckily found a table there. The manager welcome us and accompanied upto the table . We order the food and it came out in a very less time.We have Garlic mushroom , garlic bread with cheese and calamari in starters which were very delicious and tasty . After that in the main course we have Lasagna , Canneloni , Spaghetti Bolognese and Fillet steak with Peppercorn Sauce. The food was really very delicious and tasty . At the end we have tiramisu and cheesecake in desserts. The service was very nice and staff members were friendly. In Pickering we paid half the price as compared to London. We highly recommend Figaros restaurant where they providing their best services with nice delicious food and atomosphere with a very reasonable price.. This is a best place for local peoples as well as peoples coming from the outside . Highly recommended !!! If you really want to enjoy the traditional Italian food.

The Ropery Cafe
PickeringWhat a smashing little cafe. We happened across it and thought we'd go in before the rush and I'm so pleased we did. Fantastic value for money, service with a smile and lovely fresh cooked food, what more could you want. Take away tea and coffee £1. Literally, next door is a Costa, which cost a ridiculous amount. Dog friendly too, would highly recommend

Spice 4 U
41 Hungate, PickeringWent in tonight after a fruitless search in Pickering for tea on a Sunday night. Absolutely spot on, 5 stars not enough. Very busy upon entering but drinks, pupadoms and mains all came in good time. We had a large red wine, half of Cobra. 4 pupadoms all the pickles, 2 huge mains pilau rice £44. What a bargain for some top food. The guys working in there were spot on as well. Wish we lived nearer.

Bits N Pizzas
7 Burgate, PickeringAbsolutely amazing!
Staying in a hotel and don't know the area and found this place recommended by the hotel. Didn't really know what to expect but oh my god it was wonderful! Really easy to order over the phone. The lady who took our order was really nice and friendly. Very quick delivery, it was 30 mins from ordering to being here which I expected it being a lot longer. It was cheaper than I expected too and the free garlic bread was a lovely surprise too. The food was goregous! Really tasty, nice and hot. This has been the best garlic bread I've had in years, the pizza was wonderful and loved my chicken wrap. The staff were great and the service was wonderful. Could not fault anything
