Milecastle Inn
Milecastle Inn, North Road, HaltwhistleWe had an excellent stay here, shame it was only for one night. We received a lovely welcome and were shown to the rooms. There is an open plan kitchen/lounge which were well stocked/provisioned including a welcome box and a bottle of milk. Then there was a bedroom with a comfortable double bed and a bathroom. All were clean and tidy. We made it into the pub for drinks and were made very welcome. If we come back to the area I would certainly look to stay here again.

The Black Bull
Market Square, 6 Market Square, HaltwhistleHad a delicious Sunday Lunch here. Very tasty in a very historical public house. The owners were friendly and happy to talk to us about the history of the pub.
The Black Bull is dog friendly and at the time we visited (mid Feb) there was a roaring fire. There were locals eating who gladly told us of local places to visit. All in all an excellent Sunday dinner experience. One of the best Sunday dinners we've had with lots of hot tasty food. Thank you and complements to the chef ?

Manor House Hotel, Pub & Restaurant
Main St, HaltwhistleStayed for two nights in January 2026. The location is perfect for local walks and for visiting nearby attractions such as the museums, Hadrian’s Wall, and Vindolanda.
The rooms are clean, tidy, and very comfortable. The staff are exceptionally friendly and genuinely couldn’t do more to help - both around the hotel and with advice about the area.
The food is superb: classic pub dishes done to a really high standard. Breakfast is excellent too. Saturday’s breakfast was the standout - the bacon was incredible.
Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be returning.

Fryery
Sun House, Main St, HaltwhistleDuring last nights stay at Mole End Cottage we decided to pop to the Fryery upon a recommendation of the cottage owner. This take away has plenty to offer which was great as we fancied fish and chips and our girls wanted pizza, therefore it saved us having to go to two different places !! The prices are very reasonable and the food was delicious. The payment option is cash only, we are not local and wouldn't know where the nearest cash machine is located, luckily we had cash with us.Highly recommended.Kid-friendliness: The menu caters for children.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a small step to get in, however the staff were extremely friendly and I am sure they would offer as kuchen help as possible should it be needed
