The Kebab Shop Galashiels
26 High St, GalashielsBought a chicken and shish kebab. Very generous portion of best quality meat that was cooked to perfection. Seperate sauce and salad (I requested seperate) that was super fresh, delicious and generous (2 tubs of sauce).
No long wait, modern and pleasant shop, padded seating while waiting and super friendly staff.
Even got a napkin which is appreciated.
Other kebab shop owners
should visit here to see how it should be done.

Grilled meat, fresh salad and sauce with low fat pitta bread, beats deep fat fried chippy crap every day of the week (unless you like being obese).

I went with my baby, and she opened the door for me and assisted me. I asked about food, and she showed me the fridge and the outdoor cupboard and said, “Help yourself.” She also told me when their café is open.
She is lovely and very kind.

Me and my partner were on a drive around like we usually do, and fancied something to eat. This is the best food we have gotten in a very very long time, the place is amazing. We eat out often on our travels and nothing compares to this. Loaded fries are incredible, not soggy, the veg was finely chopped, and the chicken had great flavour. The chicken wings were so fresh and had plenty meat on each one. Also had to barely wait on the order, was done really quickly, and piping hot.
We wish we lived closer as we would be here all the time.

Ruined our family time there so we either go elsewhere or rush our meal now as it's like waiting for it to happen again as it can be a frequent thing if they don't recognise you or you are passing through but extremely nosey and it's enough to be off-putting if you let it??????

1953 Bar and Restaurant
112 High St, GalashielsOur opinion is that this is more Nepalese than Indian. For us this was a delight as we had recently visited Nepal for a family event and were delighted by the food, friendliness, and hospitality of the people. The small sampling of the menu we enjoyed was spot on excellent. Reasonable portions, and excellent attention to preparation and presentation. The chicken dishes were notable in that the meat was very tender and perfectly cooked. Nepalese seasonings, when done correctly are exquisite. I would definitely return multiple times just to try more or their offerings.They are more than willing to moderate or ramp up the spice level and heat relative to your particular palate.
The wait-staff was friendly and prompt. Made good recommendations, and did their very best to ensure we had a memorable experience.
My wife and I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning at some point in the near future (from California). Seriously, we would have no problem driving down from Edinburgh for a delightful day in the Borderlands and a great meal at 1953.
