Dropped in here for a sit-down meal whilst staying in Minehead overnight.
Found the place on the off-chance whilst strolling through the High Street, just tucked away around the corner from the local 'Spoons.
It's not a cheap place to eat-in, but it's been a couple of years since we have been to a Chinese restaurant so the prices may be on a par with others.
The food, however, was well-flavoured and nicely portioned for the two of us. We had a combo starters, a rice and two dishes, a couple of beers and a wine which, with a tip came out at £80. I'm thinking the combo starters at £26 was over-priced for what was priced at only £16 for a takeaway. The other dishes are all around £10 each.
Only three stars for the atmosphere as we were only two of four people in there - I'm guessing Minehead is quiet in January... The staff were very pleasant though, and the takeaway area was busy.

Best and only Halal food (pizza not halal) in Minehead. We was fed up with eating bland and tasteless food at butlins so we visited this place it was outstanding from food to service the staff was amazing. The quality and portion of food was very generous for the price paid. Definitely recommended.

We camped in the field behind smugglers inn wasn’t sure about the pub as it had mixed reviews. So we took a chance and ate Saturday night and booked for Sunday lunch ,was not disappointed……food was amazing! And staff are very attentive! Nice beer garden too!

I am a frequent customer and I have been for the past maybe 3 years my kids love the food and so do I and because I'm a regular my food is delivered before the delivery mark. There have been a few times where they have messed up my pizza but I do normally switch between the crusts but that's fine because I still eat it

So we're in Dunster on our jollies. Missed food service in the pub and they suggested we order from valdis pizza to the the pub. Omg delish we ordered 2 types of pasta, a calzone and a burger. We're already wondering if we can place an order and keep it warm for the 5 HR journey home. Or can you just franchise up north??

A big gang of us stumbled in with two dogs in tow, several of us with a plethora of dietary requirements, allergies and pathological indecisiveness that often alienates us from most places. What we got was some of the friendliest and most accommodating service I have encountered thus far. The food was lovely and the staff were incredible. It really rounded off our wonderful visit to Dunster. Thank you Cobblestones!

Have eaten here a few times. Very good quality fish & chips. Restaurant at the back is nice and clean, decor is pleasant. You can also sit outside and get takeaway offers such as 6 cod bites and chips for £5.99. My mum is very fussy but she enjoyed her meal, nothing negative to say!

Absolutely the best full English Breakfast for miles around. Considering us Brits affectionately call it a Greasy Spooner, it is not at all greasy. Everything cooked to perfection and arriving hot on the plate. Delicious vegan sausages too for the vegetarians out there…

If you like Fresh, Healthy Homemade options then this little tea room on the high street in Dunster is definitely an unsung local Hero. Never had a bad meal there and a must visit if you want to have a hearty wholesome meal. Snacks are also available. I can’t recommend it highly enough. ???? xxx

The Jubilee Cafe and Crazy Golf

With there being no public toilets anywhere near the main beach area, large car park, tourist information centre and train station, this place is vital in you need to go to the toilet. You do need to buy something and have to ask for the key at the desk. Sadly I think they get inundated with toilet requests due to the town council’s neglect at providing essential basic facilities for tourists and locals. The cafe itself was very nice and the main gold side was a lovely protection from the wind with lots of nice tables outside in the sunshine overlooking the crazy golf and town. The staff were friendly and helpful, though they did get the order wrong, we ordered a latte but got brought a black coffee which had already been sugared, very odd. £4.20 for a mr whippy ice cream was a bit steep, however is was good quality and we didn’t mind paying also due to the excellent and essential toilet facilities they are providing the towns tourists.

Good, honest food. Our sausage and mash was very good with a variety of vegetables cooked just the way I like them. The wine had a strange bouquet and I was given a new glass from a freshly opened bottle but that still didn't seem right and so I ordered a different white wine which was fine.

Food was good quality and well cooked with fair pricing.
Here’s the Special Breakfast with the Black Pudding & Fried Egg donated to my dining victim on account that they are instruments of the devil himself and I am highly virtuous…

Anyway, if you’re in Blue Anchor or near it and want some decent food with great service and good pricing along with a nice view, then get yourself down to The Driftwood.

I should start by saying sorry to the wonderful owners for forgetting to write this review for so long, so my apologies!
It’s such a shame I live in Derbyshire because if I was closer I would eat here every week!
We came down to Butlins for the week and as you can imagine we wanted to eat anywhere but Butlins and one morning me and the brother in law jumped on the electric scooters to find somewhere for breakfast while the families slept.
We stumbled upon this absolute gem of a place. Let’s start with the food… everything on our plates was as fresh as it gets and bursting with flavour! Definitely butchers meat and not just the typical cheap stuff. Also the portions are so generous I couldn’t finish my plate and as you can see from the picture (my big belly on the left) I love my food.

The service… the 2 ladies was wonderful in making our experience enjoyable and told us all about the area and kept us laughing the whole time we was there, full of energy and a please to be around.

Although this was our secret to go out and eat without the families to save money, I couldn’t help but give in and tell them of this place just so I could go again before we headed back home and again it was just as good as the first time.

If you are going to Butlins don’t waste your money buying food there just come straight to this place!

Fab service, a rare find. One of the only fish n chips places that cook their chips separately and not in the same oil as all the fish and meat, so vegetarian, vegan and halal friendly. Good customer service, helpful and friendly. Recommended.

Went in Alcombe fish bar yesterday, hadn't visited in many years due to not being in the area.
Food was absolutely first class, all cooked fresh so hadn't been sitting in the range for an hour. Cod was freshest I have ever had, no ammonia smell that I get here in the midlands.
I'm sure it is still the same family run take away from 40 years back.
Hard to think of any fish and chips I've had that beat the food here.
Top quality. Looking forward to next time.

We’ve walked past the cafe loads of times when we’ve been in the area on holiday but today we decided to go in for breakfast. We ordered a bacon sandwich, cinnamon swirl and a full cooked breakfast. An outstanding experience. We went for an evening meal which we enjoyed so much we returned for Sunday lunch which was also way above expectations. I have to say the food was amongst the best I have eaten anywhere. I had one of the two daily specials, Thai Red Prawn Curry, and can honestly say it was as good as any I have eaten in Thailand. The staff are fantastic; very helpful and extremely pleasant. I could not recommend this restaurant highly enough. I did mention to the owner that I thought his prices where very low for the quality of food and service, we paid about £25 per head less than we would have in an equivalent resturnt in Tunbridge Well! If you are in Minehead, this gem is well worth visit.

The ship inn porlock weir

Last April I posted a scathing review of The Bottom Ship after a particularly bad experience. The owners responded in the best possible way by giving me a gift voucher for a future visit, and today I used that voucher.
What a difference!
The food was excellent, freshly cooked and delicious, the service was was first class.
Having presented the voucher for the meal the staff forgot to charge me for the drinks. Yes, I did remind them!
A completely different experience and we'll definitely be going back in the future.

My husband and I popped in on the off chance as this was one of his haunts in his younger days, the staff were so accommodating and we had a delicious meal. He had sausages and mash and I had the crab and prawn linguine. Locanda on the Weir

This place was the absolute highlight of our 16 day trip. Porlock Weir is small and calm and it became our daily ritual to watch the tide change.

Locanda on the Weir is a lovely place with so many lovely pictures and items. I think I counted more than 50+ pictures alone in the room we had breakfast. Every day I noticed something new. Lucy and Pio made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed listening to vinyl records in the lounge while enjoying a cocktail. They only have 4 rooms so the atmosphere is kept intimate even when the place is fully booked.

The room was lovely and spacious with a very comfy bed. The food is Michelin level and breakfast was almost the highlight of the day, except for the day we had diner, that took the grand price. They only offer dinner 4 nights a week so you have to settle for the pub or the oyster bar across the road some nights.

Everything was exquisite and I would definitely go again.

Large Family meal, lots of generations in the party, loads of choice on the menu. Food was quick and served hot and served as if the chef loved what he presented, tasty and full of colour and flavour.
