120 High St, Hurstpierpoint, HassocksMy wife and I had an anniversary dinner at The Fig Tree last night, and it was smashing. We both had the tasting menu. The food was creative and excellent, and the service superb. And it's unpretentious -- just simply excellent. The best value for money Michelin star restaurant I have found in the UK.

Village Pizza Kitchen
126C High St, Hurstpierpoint, HassocksWe visited VPK on 22.8.2025 for an early dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We were greeted with such a warm welcome and lots of smiles from the staff. We had booked a table for 2 adults and a child and we had a 6 month old in a pushchair. The team re-jigged the table moving chairs away from the table to accommodate the pushchair. The service was so smooth. We then ordered our food and the waiter was very friendly and professional and treated us like he really cared informing us well with things on the menu including informing us about the dessert which was included with the children’s menu. We only stayed for one course as we had two very tired children and our waiter offered for us to take home the children’s dessert, such a nice touch. Our waiter had noticed we had left something on the table so quickly found us outside shortly after we left and handed it to us. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very buzzy and the decor was tastefully done. It was so refreshing to experience such good customer service. This level of service is very hard to find these days so thank you to the team for making it such a memorable experience. We will definitely be back!!!

The Hassocks
Bridge House, Station Approach, HassocksMy son and daughter in law had there wedding reception here just over a week ago .also i had my wedding breakfast and reception 12 years ago .absolutely fantastic place can't fought it all staff are amazing so lovely. Highly recommend to hire .thank you for everything

The Greyhound
Keymer Rd, Keymer, HassocksI came here many years ago when the previous owners had it and it made me really sad the pub was not living up to it's full potential, I live in Buckinghamshire and visit friends in Brighton twice a year - we ended up driving to the Greyhound and the new owners have just turned the place around night and day - it far exceeded what I even thought the pubs potential was - it's great when it is sunny, when it rains, cold days, hot days - so now I make a point of going there twice a year every time I visit Sussex. I laughed at a 1 star review on here when I read it, then realised it was one of those lunatics that moves next door to a pub and then complains about living next to a pub! Cheers to many more years - it's great to see pubs like this thriving so many are closing down.

The Corner Cafe
14 Orion Parade, HassocksI called into the Corner Cafe for a quick coffee recently and found the staff present & friendly. The coffee was nice and the place was clean, tidy & inviting. Maybe I'll try a breakfast next time I'm in Hassocks.

Sunam Tandoori
5 Keymer Rd, HassocksGarlic chilli chicken and lamb Korma was ordered. We decided to eat early as was passing. We are not locals.
I’ve read some of the reviews and can see their points made about the restaurant.
For my experience.
I was concerned by the mint sauce for the poppadoms being offered with a glowing orange consistency.
That much food colouring worried me as did the pilau rice that we ordered coming out coloured yellow.
Some of these colourings are very dated to old BIR. (British Indian restaurants) which tend to be Bengali run)
I think the restaurant caters to its regulars it’s been going so long 30+ years.
Very reasonably priced considering the equivalent in Brighton can be 13-17£.
Food was ok. So I can’t complain.
Really the korma tasted of butter and almonds as it should. We asked that it wasn’t too sweet. And they catered for that.
The garlic chicken had a lot of garlic and chilli which was nice and not a compromise to see.
The owner and staff were friendly enough and yes can see that such a small restaurant they could overwhelm if they were quiet.
Some noted the food came out very quickly and all together.
We got this.
I think more the point is get them fed get ready for the next attitude.
Unfortunately because this was a low key experience I didn’t take pictures right from the get go. But here are a few bad ones. Apologies.

The Thatched Inn
Grand Ave, HassocksWe popped in for a late Sunday lunch and were so glad we did. The staff were warm and welcoming, even making a fuss of our dog ?, which was such a lovely touch. Service was friendly and efficient, and they thoughtfully checked whether we’d like our butternut squash Wellington prepared vegetarian or vegan. The portions were spot-on, and every dish was cooked to perfection. My highlight was the Chana Masala burger – packed with flavour, perfectly spiced, and beautifully complemented by the chutney. A wonderful meal from start to finish.
