9 Bridge St, Appleby-in-WestmorlandThis place is amazing in every way. Compliments to the chef because everything was presented beautifully and tasted absolutely fantastic. The flavours were incredible and it was great to see firm favourites on the menu but then also something a little bit different that we may not have had the opportunity to try before. We had a chicken madras, panch phoron and a jhal jhol and they were all delicious, you can tell that the chef really cares and only uses the best and the freshest ingredients because the flavours were amazing. We were really well looked after all night and the little touches of bringing out the little fennel seed sweets with the mints was such a nice little touch. I would definitely recommend a visit here, you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back and hopefully quite soon.

The Three Greyhounds Inn
Great Asby, Appleby-in-WestmorlandCouldn't ignore the reviews so drove 6 miles over dark sheep infested roads in the rain, when we could have eaten back at the hotel. Glad we made the effort. Food was delicious, piping hot, service was second to none. Very helpful landlord. Wife said beer was good - I was drink driving on lemonade. Didn't hit any sui-cidal sheep. Plates and sweet bowls full and hot. A beautiful little oasis in a little peaceful village. Will we call again for food? Yes - in a heartbeat. Prices extremely good.

The Appleby Hub
The Appleby Hub, Chapel St, Appleby-in-WestmorlandThis is a community run venue in a converted methodist church. However, the coffee and food are of an excellent standard with friendly and efficient service. The interior has been decorated in a very sympathetic way. They make their own bread on the premises. It was so delicious in our sandwiches that we bought a loaf. The interior also has a secondhand bookshop and a shop selling cards, crafts and gifts. If you are stopping in Appleby for a couple of hours and feeling peckish then you won't find a better place.

Crown & Cushion Inn

The food was amazing, we got 2 of the stew with dauphinoise potatoes in a huge Yorkie, my daughter got a chicken burger, fresh chicken breast, it was huge, the food was delicious, hearty and good value for what it was, the dog enjoyed his sausage as well, the staff were lovely girls, great atmosphere

Sandford Arms
Sandford, Appleby-in-WestmorlandWent to the Sandford Arms this evening (Thursday evening) and it was steak night. The pub was very busy already at 18.30 but the front of house, Ellie, was coping with an incoming group, food ordering and service, bar service and payments with great calm and good humour. I hope her employers look after her well (hey Dad !!!).
As it was steak night, the BosS had a well done rump steak (£10.00) and I had a ribeye medium (£12.50).
We are in the outside yard. The food arrived in good time and was excellent. Plates were emptied.
I had Wainwrights pint which was also excellent.
The pub is a member of the BII which is a guarantee of good quality.
Highly recommend and thank you Ellie for your excellent customer service. Dogs are also welcome in the bar area and parking available

13 Boroughgate, Appleby-in-WestmorlandWe were in Appleby on a coach trip so couldn't spend too long in a pub. I like good cask beers and it didn't look great. The lady behind the bar put a good one on for me specially and made us feel so welcome. Wish all pubs could be so friendly and welcoming. Well done, this pub is the best in Appleby. John and Theresa.

Ketland Moor, Appleby-in-WestmorlandStopped for breakfast and opted for poached eggs and bacon on toast. Arrived quickly and I have to say was the best I’ve had in a long time.
Service is excellent and staff very friendly.

Hoff, Appleby-in-WestmorlandGreat full pint of Ribblehead ale, perfect temperature.
We called in on the off chance on a walk and we were so pleased to find that there was Sunday lunch available. A big plateful of freshly cooked roast beef, homemade Yorkshire pudding, mashed and roast potatoes, roast parsnips and mashed sweet potato, with delicious gravy. The plate was so full the other veg had to come in a separate bowl. We were too full for pudding.
The pub is full of character but unpretentious and the landlord and landlady were friendly and chatty.

Long Marton, Appleby-in-WestmorlandWent a few weeks ago on a Friday night, was very quiet, but the beer was excellent and the food was sensational. I had the fish and chips and it was up there with one of the best I've ever had. The chips were to die for. Lovely pub inside, friendly staff, will definitely return.

Bit pricey and average overall, little watery but some nice chunks of root vegetables. Solid prawn crackers, on the thicker side without the excess oil; good for dipping and scooping.
Fairly quick service considering a lot of collections turned up and a good location for visitors in nearby accommodations.

Bongate, Appleby-in-WestmorlandParking is limited here with cars parked on either side of the main road. We parked outside the church opposite. We had a nice, friendly welcome and drinks were served promptly. We were disappointed to see that you had to pre-order from the festive menu (48 hrs in advance). However the food we did order from the normal menu was very tasty. Good ambience in this place where dogs are welcome.

The Sands, Appleby-in-WestmorlandJust stopped here for some food on our way home from a festival. Between us we had the fish and chips meal deal, battered sausages, curry and gravy. We loved it all and the staff who served us were very friendly. Thank you ?

4 The Sands, Appleby-in-WestmorlandGreat place, beautiful pizzas!! \n\nOrdered from here whilst staying in the area and didn't really know if it would be any good as no reviews were really available from recently. \n\nOrdered 12" pizza, chicken kebab and cheesy chips and were all stunning.\n\nThe pizza especially was so good, the crust probably the best I've ever had 10/10, wished it was our local!
