Askham, PenrithI had a wonderful experience here. For lunch, I chose a selection of small plates because there was so much tempting food on the menu it was hard to pick just one dish. The homemade slaw was absolutely delicious, and I enjoyed my meal while sitting at the bar. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxing, and both the staff and locals were incredibly welcoming and friendly. I’d definitely recommend a visit. It’s also dog friendly and offers a great selection of local beers.

Lowther Castle Inn
Lowther Castle Inn, Hackthorpe, PenrithWent for Sunday Roast 2 years ago as we were staying nearby. 2 weeks ago we were in the area again and remembered the great meal we had so my daughter booked for 5 of us for the Sunday lunch again. We all had the roast beef lunch and all agreed it was the best pub roast we have ever had. The beef on each plate was enough for at least 2 people and was so tender. The roast potatoes were done perfectly as was the Yorkshire pudding. There was also mashed potatoes, cabbage and carrots and as much gravy as you wanted. Try it you won't be disappointed. The only downside is it's a long way from North Wales to pop in.

The Squirrel Inn
Lowther Holiday Park, Eamont Bridge, PenrithDon't know much about this pub on Lowther camp site been told it's OK and serve light meals burgers etc. Disco sometimes during summer season.Opening times mixed depending on the time of year.
