Beautiful tea room perfect for a pit stop after coming off the fells and before getting the steamer back to Glendinning or Pooley Bridge. Great cakes. Worth a visit. Only open in summer season (we came Good Friday 2024 and it had only been open a day or two).

One of the best pubs in the Lake District! As you come off the A66 you really feel like you are entering the late district yet conveniently very close to Penrith. It has a fantastic atmosphere of a country pub with the fire almost always going, it has certainly provided great respite in the winter months when I might have been less prepared for the cold weather.Just visited again more recently in March and the food was delicious. I have the venison burger off the specials board (although a lamb shank is always tempting) and fortunately we opted to share a treacle tart for dessert that's the portion was humongous! The staff are always super friendly and I would recommend to anyone as a fantastic pub to stop in at. It isn't the biggest of pubs so if you do want to eat I would recommend ringing ahead and booking a table.

This was one of the best 3 course meals I have had. Each dish was bursting with flavour with sensible sized portions. The hake was on pickled fennel which paired superbly with the prawn in pasta. The rhubarb was amazing. I will difinitely be back for the food. Sadly the edge was taken off the perfection by the 10% service charge added to the bill (our dinner was included in our room rate but the 10% service charge was not) and the service itself was a bit patchy. I just hope the chefs got part of the service charge

We visited the restaurant for our first time, the food was exceptional and the staff were really friendly. The fish and chips was outstanding. The only disappointment was they don’t accept cash! It is not illegal to use cash so why not accept it? We are not a cashless society!
