Cottage Chippy

The best fish and chips I've had in ages. I eat fish and chips around once a week up and down the country, and Cottage Chippy delivered a perfect serving.

The batter was exceptionally good versus other chippies, and the curry sauce very nice, high quality of fish. The chips were very tidy compared to most chip shops, no 'eyes' or rotten bits. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Please keep doing what you're doing Cottage Chippy.

Anna's Bar & Kitchen

Popular place opposite the marina in Whitehaven. Not been in before as it’s always busy! A table on the terrace was free today, probably one of the hottest days of the year and many people sat outside with cocktails, it all looked good.
The food is tasty and we all enjoyed our choices sat out in the sunshine - menu offers a good range of small plates, burgers, ‘dirty fries’, salads etc.
inside was cool and air conditioned, but they were fully booked, outside had just one table, but for being busy there was a great atmosphere. Drinks took a while, but it didn’t take very long for food to arrive after placing our order and the staff were friendly, but it’s clear they are all run off their feet and dirty dishes are left lying on tables (for much longer than they should be) After our order was delivered we weren’t asked if food was ok, or if we needed anything else, so sadly they lost a star from me for this omission, but on a quieter day I’d probably give this place 5 stars all round. It was good.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this place, no where to add any blank stars. The staff are excellent, the food is great and they always get my order correct. Never had a problem with this place.

Stuffed to the brim with fillings and took less than 15 minutes to arrive. Ordered a cake too and its Huge ?

Charcoal Grill Whitehaven

The folks here were super friendly, and cook some mean and tasty pizzas.Very reliable service too (we found other places nearby which stated they were open, weren't).Vegetarian options: Vegetarian, MargaritaKid-friendliness: Really friendly staff who enjoyed chatting with the kids.

Ali Taj Takeaway

Very tasty food and great service! Everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavour. The delivery was quick, and the staff were very friendly. I really enjoyed my meal. Will order again for sure. Highly recommend Ali Taj Takeaway! 5 stars from me!

Mrs pizza

Don’t usually order a pizza which doesn’t have a thin base option but very glad I did!!! The base was not overly thick and everything was done to a high quality. Would like to see a thin base option but other than that excellent?

For first time in ages and I mean ages I got 2 x Chicken and Bacon club baguettes for £3.15 each. I have to say they were amazing. I loved them both. Why it's taken me this long to buy them again beats me. I'll buy them each week now when I'm in town. Just awesome and staff were fantastic. I'm back as a Greggs customer.

Parking: Limited spaces in the market square at busy times, but over all it's usually not bad and you'll get parked or least pull up briefly to nip in and out and move on

Absolutely fantastic service, so helpful and friendly. I asked for 5 drinks to take out and had my 3 year old grand daughter with me, so between us, we came up with ideas to make my walk back to the park a lot easier.

The Whittington Cat

The food is always good and good value in my opinion, and the staff are always pleasant, but on our past 2 visits we've waited between 45 minutes to over an hour from ordering to be served. One member of our party ended up having to take his meal to work with him in a carry out box the wait was so long. We were not told that there would be a wait due to the high number of deliveries being prepared, it was only when we asked we were told. Come on guys, you can do better.

Ordered delivery past 10pm, food arrived quickly and very warm. delivery driver was lovely and fast. chicken bites are very tasty and arrived lovely and warm. wedges were seasoned perfectly, and were really really delicious. couldn’t have asked for a better takeaway!

The Howgate Brewers Fayre

My wife and I often go here, the decor is getting a bit dated and could do with freshening up.\n The food from the daytime savers menu we find is great and at five pound a meal, plus a desert and refillable coffee or soft drinks for under twenty-three pounds is great value for the money.\n On certain days of the week it can get very busy and service can be a bit slow, don't forget too register your car. On this visit Jane took our order, we were given our cups for the coffee machine, we had been sitting five minutes when Jane served our meals followed by our desserts another cup of coffee. Even at a leisurely pace of eating we were finished in an hour and half, so excellent service. \n A little tip, if you know what you want, pay there and then and it easier to leave.

Domino's Pizza - Whitehaven

Ordered online from this shop several times. This time ordered a thin and crispy vegi pizza on the app. Took about 12 minutes before ready to collect. The pizza was nicely thin and crispy. Nice and hot.

Chattanooga

Blue light card discount. Food was lush, ordered garlic pizza bread with cheese and donner, 12inch ham and pineapple and sweet potato fries.
Everything was lush. No complaints.

we had a table book for our wedding anniversary and again the food was outstanding the staff are great friendly very professional this is one of mine favourite restaurant to go to.Im restricted where I can eat due to food alot of allergies and this place is great for me as eveything is cooked on a different side so no worrys of cross contamination thank you and your team for another great night

The Corner House Bed and Breakfast

What a hidden gem. A warm and welcoming B&B a 15 min stroll to the harbour. Very comfortable, well heated spotlessly clean bedroom with a decent hot shower. So peaceful. A lovely breakfast served to order with 5 star ingredients. This was an overnight business stop but we would certainly love to return.

Akash Tandoori Restaurant

The owners were very accommodating,we hadn't booked as it was the August bank holiday,so the restaurant was full . The young man who saw to us said come back in 15 mins. We were on our way out and they had sorted us a table out ,by moving one. The food was excellent spicy, we all enjoyed our meals ,we couldn't complain about any part of the meal. The food was hot and brought out quickly . I would also say the cost of the food was not that expensive either. Friendly staff too.

Oriental Garden

We were staying in a flat on the harbour, so this was handy. We rang and ordered and went to collect it 15 mins later as advised. It was ready and hot when we arrived back.\nThe food was good. The trays were packed with meat. Very good.

The Vagabond

We’ve had the Sunday roast delivered from here a couple of times based on other recommendations so we decided to pop in and see what the atmosphere was like and try something else. \n\nWe were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming, the atmosphere was cosy, traditional pub vibe with really tasty food and they don’t skimp on portions if you like a good feed. My husband finished most of his but I could not finish mine. My husband had the chicken stir fry with half rice and half chips and I had the beef goulash with rice and vegetables. Everything tasted really fresh and was served in good time and with reasonable prices. We enquired about Sunday roast and they said best to book in advance for that as the tables go fast, so needless to say we will be booking a table to try it fresh to the table.

Number 11 restaurant and bar

Every time I work in Whitehaven I come here for my evening meal. Always a lovely welcome and the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Rump steak two sides and a dip (see photo) for £23.50 … happy days!

The Sunny Hill Pub

Generous portions and very good service. The mixed grill is huge and my wife donated her black pudding. They even have a draught beer in the pub's name. The only problem is that they have a small car park.

Latest visit - double birthday celebration. Lunchtime Wednesday October. Mocktail missing 2 ingredients - fresh mint leaves & lime, £4.20 for a ginger beer, not impressed. Garlic bread ordered, cheesy garlic bread came out - daughter doesn't eat cheese. (Thought standard now was to ask about allergies before any order taken). Asked for bill, told to pay at bar. Total entered on card machine, I had no sight of itemised bill. Asked if wanted receipt - yes, then saw itemised bill going in bin.
Sliders lovely in brioche toasted buns. Coronation chicken sandwich. Teriyaki pork tasty.
Disappointed by this visit to our go-to place to eat in Whitehaven. (Waitess/service)

Pork flatbread, 2 burgers. Fantastic chips & classy ketchup. Rose lemonade, neck oil larger £6 a pint! Been before, return visit. Specials menu. Vege options, cocktails. Family groups, sober hen table, couples. Really enjoyed it again. High ceilings. Popular. Good service & food came out soon enough.

I booked the yellow earl for the Cumbria waste and Derwent recycling Christmas night out the buffet was great the staff were really accommodating couldn’t do more for us nice atmosphere and would definitely recommend

Cross's Coffee Shop

We popped in on a cold Tuesday when we did a panicked quick-search for dog friendly cafes to warm up, so glad we did as it was a wonderful place! They allowed our dog to sit with us, offered her water and treats! Food and drinks came out in good time and the staff were exceptional, really wonderful people! If we’re ever in the area again we’ll be stopping in ?

Indian Spice

Busy takeaway with nice staff, authentic food and decent prices. We had a selection of three tasty starters and a keema naan as a late night snack on a hot summers day. Really delicious and crisp, naan fluffy and tasty. Will order again and give the wider menu a try!

Westminster Cafe Bar

Happened to come here by chance as rain poured down... homemade carrot and lentil soup and fluffy bread rolls were excellent. Much appreciated on a damp day! Cash only...

Oriental House

Great Chinese takeaway, possibly the best in Whitehaven. One of the more expensive ones, but you pay for what you get. Clean facility with friendly staff and tasty food.

The Globe Inn

No food these days, but good selection of bar snacks including XL Cheese and the pints of Loweswater Gold are perfect, Usually another real ale is available. Service excellent. Nice crowd, like when I last drank in here in 2010. Prices very reasonable.
Will drink & bar snack here again.

Service was okay but the food and everything else to do with the pub was everything you'd expect from a "spoons" cheap food and drink served fairly quickly of 6/10 standard which is witherspoon across the board. Can't complain decent place

The Haven Cafe

Best coffee in town. Friendly staff. Guaranteed you'll have a good crack, not to mention a damn good laugh. Love and best wishes to Nicola and all the girls!

Rooftop Cafe

'The place to eat in Whitehaven'. Spacious, plentiful seating and varied menu. Only 1 toilet shared between babies and disabled and ladies toilets not up to the usual standard in the post Christmas break.

Maybe the scenic view / balcony may of been better built facing the harbour but hey that's a big change!

All in all they manage to put a service on and provide a resilient business for West Cumbria folk.

Cute little cafe with great food and excellent coffee! Absolutely lovely staff, welcoming and attentive, even as it got busy with people putting in morning orders. Highly recommend!!

Great event. Great company. If there were 6 stars, I would give them. I did note the drinks prices seemed to keep going up throughout the evening, which was weird, but no real complaints as they were good enough value.
