I sourced this restaurant when I knew I’d be working in the area for a week in January. I’m very familiar with Nepalese food. I was a visitor there in 2003 for a whole month. So early on a Saturday evening I was a walk in customer.

I was seated at the back of the restaurant not long after 6 pm. I immediately ordered deep fried minced lamb momo. For the main meal, my choice was mushroom rice and the Goan Chicken Tikka Curry. This is tamarind sauce, coconut milk, yoghurt, mustard sauce, garlic and ginger in Chef's special sauce.

The momo is served along with chutney. Five pieces in a portion. They tasted delicious and were seasoned well. Then approximately ten minutes later, the main was served. I also had two poppadoms with mango chutney. The meal was wholesome, not that spicy and the chicken was tender.

Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. As I finished my meal, the restaurant started to get busier. I only had mineral water. No desert was required on this occasion. The meal was very affordable and the ambiance was chilled. I felt content but didn’t really have the wow factor. If I returned, I’d request a more spicier option.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️\nWe had such a fantastic experience at The Harbour Light! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome — friendly, attentive and genuinely passionate about what they do. The service really stood out and made the whole evening even more enjoyable.\n\nWe started with the Mussels on Toast and the Crispy Squid, which were both cooked perfectly and full of flavour. For mains, we went for the Pork Belly and the Mussels — both dishes were absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. You can really tell how much attention goes into the food here.\n\nThe atmosphere was relaxed yet lively, with lovely views and a cosy, welcoming feel throughout. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in and enjoy great food, great service and great company. We can’t wait to come back again soon — highly recommend The Harbour Light to anyone visiting Paignton!

Food was incredible. Best Italian food I’ve had in the UK. Super reasonable pricing and a lovely service from the owner herself. Spent some time after talking about the area and where her family live in Italy. Cannot wait to come and visit again. Make sure to call up and book a table to avoid missing out.

Having holidayed in the area for around 15 years we discovered this place for the first time last year and came back this year. The service absolutely stands out here, it is warm and inviting and unlike most places around Cornwall and Devon the staff are courteous and friendly. It is like stepping back in time coming in here, it takes me back to what places felt like in my childhood and in a lovely way! The food is delicious (we had the carvery) and the parsnips are absolutely to die for! Thank you to the staff for your lovely service, keep up the good work.

Having visited several times over the last few years, we have never been disappointed by the quality of the food and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Despite being on the main drag of Paignton’s tourist street, once you are inside it is calm and tranquil and just what is wanted when out for a meal. The choice of food and drink is exceptional and the service is spot on. I would recommend the jungle curry to anyone fancying something with a bit of a kick.

Popped in for emergency dinner on Tuesday night and couldn't be happier! The girls on the counter were excellent - efficient and friendly, and really cared. The food was perfect - the fish was moist and flaky, the batter was crisp and tasty, and the chips were freshly made and delicious. Will absolutely be returning. Can't recommend these guys highly enough!
