Restaurants in Teignmouth
Trade Winds
12 Station Rd, TeignmouthWe were part of an early Christmas dinner party for a group of 20. The restaurant had our table set in one long banquet style, which was easy for everyone to get to their seats and exit when they needed to. The service was preformed at a very nice pace, not to slow and not to hurriedly, it was in the Goldie Locks zone. The servers were very pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing and the portions were definitely not small. Owing to food allergies we ordered from the standard menue rather than the Christmas menue. My wife had the liver and bacon which was amazing and she literally couldn't finish it. I plumped for the classic burger with extra cheese, bacon and fried onions. It came out like a two story building, the burger itself was easily over an inch thick, and the chips were the size of logs. Now I like my food, but even I struggled to finish it all, and my word I enjoyed every mouthful. Nick the owner is an extremely nice chap, and rightly so, very proud of his establishment and staff. I cannot praise Trade Winds enough, we are really looking forward to our next visit.

The Strand Cafe Shaldon
1 Strand, Shaldon, TeignmouthWe enjoyed our lunch here yesterday. We had crab sandwiches and a cream tea and both were excellent. I was so pleased to find gluten free diet catered for, as I haven't had a cream tea for many years. The gf scones were fab. Lovely service too from the smiley servers!

The Ferry Boat Inn
4 Strand, Shaldon, TeignmouthIf you are staying in Teignmouth this is a must visit, if only for the interesting ferry boat ride over to Sheldon. (£4.50 each way, cash only). The pub is really cozy indoors but the best feature is the outdoor seating area right on the beach with a panoramic view of the harbour.

The Old Java Coffee House
2 Den Rd, TeignmouthLovely little cafe in Teignmouth, not far from the beach. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely locals. They have a good selection of drinks and lunches. I have enjoyed paninis, jacket potato’s, coffees, tea, hot chocolates and smoothies here! All have been great but I especially recommend the vegan cheese and cranberry panini and the delicious hot chocolate. They’ve always been happy to accommodate me with an allergy and make up a fresh replacement.
It’s quite small inside but we have always just been able to get a table. There is wifi available too.

Relish
6 Northumberland Pl, Teignmouthextremely kind and accommodating people, even took our rubbish for us. only recently started doing iced drinks and i think the iced latte was delicious. i paid an extra 50p for oat milk but they communicated that they didn't have it, so when i said that cow's milk was fine, they swapped the oat milk for an extra shot of espresso to make up for the extra 50p i paid and then got me to try it first to ensure it was okay. very kind and lovely place to go, highly recommend. thank you :)

Teign Indian Cuisine
47 Teign St, TeignmouthWe have had the best Indian meal in a restaurant in ages! The quality of the food was outstanding. The guy at front of house was amazing, nothing was too much and he was very polite and friendly. I know this restaurant is usually fully booked on a weekend and I can absolutely see why! We were happy with an early dinner after a day of walking the Coast Path and it did not disappoint. Will definitely be back next time we are here!

Costa Coffee (Teignmouth)
9 Bank St, TeignmouthLow score on food solely due to lack of gluten free options.Ordered the special gingerbread latte, but declined the decorative gingerbread man as I am Gluten Intolerant.Girl at the counter showed genuine sympathy and offered me After Eight mint from other special drink as substitute.Prepacked GF mince pie that I had was served with a plate and knife. You'd be surprised how rare that isDietary restrictions: See above for service at the counter. However, generally the Gluten Free options in Costa are very poor.Nothing that could be taken as a lunch, for instance.

Crab Shack
3 Queen St, TeignmouthMy friends and I went here because I'd read that it did one of the best seafood platters in the UK and it's on my bucket list. The platter was exceptional particualrly the lobster, and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and accomodating. \n\nTwo of us shared the platter, but the other member of our party had steak, which regrettably (though perhaps not surprisingly) tasted of fish. Similarly, the shortbread that came with the creme brulee also tasted fishy, I'm told. Understandably most people come here for the seafood, not steak, but this took a little of the shine off an otherwise lovely evening. We also had a gorgeous bottle of wine, and the staff ordered us a taxi - felt very well taken care of.\n\nTwo suggestions for seafood platters: Bring out some bowls for empty shells etc, and finger bowls as well as napkins as seafood is supremely messy, especially if you're a novice like me! The tiny plate wasn't very practical as it got full of shells very quickly.

Ye Olde Jolly Sailor
46 Northumberland Pl, TeignmouthThe pub was ok. Been in there on a good few occasions.
We booked for a boxing day meal.
We both ordered the belly pork with mash and seasonal veg along with some gluten free garlic bread. The belly pork was very tasty and came with a couple of sprigs of broccoli and mash. The gluten free garlic bread was mearly some sliced white gf bread which was barely shown any garlic and tasteless.
The food was not very hot which was disappointing considering we were the only people dining in the restaurant.
We both ate our food but would have preferred it to be piping hot.
A member of staff eventually came over to check all was ok and we told him it could have been warmer but he didn't seem that bothered. He wasn't very hospitable. Maybe because we were not regulars.
We have eaten there a few times in the past and the food has been good. It's a shame it let us down on this occasion.
