The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.I especially appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was. Highly recommend the fish and chips with curry sauce.

The Travellers Rest
Forster St, ConsettAfter a recommendation from a good friend, I booked a table online for Sunday dinner. Seeing how busy it was, I would say it's a good idea to book ahead. You won't regret it. I ordered the lamb dinner, and, the meat melted in mouth, cooked to perfection. Graham is a great host and the staff are superb. Service was quick and the syrup spong and custard finished things off nicely. Will be calling again and highly recommend this place. Thank you for a great customer experience!

Staff friendly and helpful. Would come again when next in Consett.Parking: Parking around Costa & KFC. If not able to park there, plenty in main shopping area.

Number one industrial estate, Unit 33F, ConsettWe absolutely love coming here, literally don’t use any other sensory since luckily coming across clart about. It is a bit out of our way but 100% worth the travel. We started coming here just before my baby turned 2 month, he’s now 6 month and we both love it still. Such a nice relaxing environment and the staff are so friendly. They take their time to talk to you and make you feel welcomed. Everything is in immaculate condition, very clean! We haven’t actually tried the food as of yet but it does look very nice - will deffo be trying sometime soon! I would 100% recommend Clart About!
I think these guys do a brilliant job to keep the business running so thank you for having such a nice place for us to bring our babies?

The good:
- Prepared and served by the dream team of Consett's own Kitt Harrington and the mysterious lady on the grill. Outstanding work!
- nice, thick bacon, 2 good eggs, perfect hash browns, decent pot of tea.
- everything seems clean, well ordered.
Less good:
- 'fun size' bangers (they were tasty)
- no tomatoes, mushrooms or black pudding.

101 Durham Rd, Blackhill, ConsettA friend introduced me to this coffee shop just after the first lockdown. I’ve been visiting ever since. Always friendly and staff go above and beyond to accommodate. An absolute treasure in Blackhill. Vegan food isn’t always advertised but Sweetharts do accommodate which is wonderful.

My son ordered the pizza on just eat and mistakenly ordered garlic sauce on the pizza not in a pot by mistake, he never changes his order but I have to say pleased he did the pizza was the best pizza yet. The staff also provided us with a pot of garlic sauce which he didn't have to do. Fab food and fab service .

7 Wesley St, ConsettMy wife, Kath and I cycled up the cycle track from Durham with the intention of regenerating ourselves at the farm shop at Knitsley only to discover it was closed on Mondays. Desperate for at least a sniff of cake we had to commit to the extra three miles into Consett where we discovered Edward's. It's a cracking little place that serves good, honest hot and cold food. We had a hot pork, stuffing and gravy bun with chips chased down with a cake. Lovely! The young lady that served us was lovely. Friendly and very helpful. No famous high street coffee shops or fast food franchise for us. Real people giving a good service.

Iveston, ConsettA friend at work had banged on about this place, his claim, “it’s the best Chinese in the north east!”
With Chinese food probably being my favourite cuisine, I had to give it a go.
First of all, any photos you see online don’t do the venue and atmosphere justice. It’s simple, but cosier and more atmospheric than you’d expect, with a nice lay out.
We went with
Salt and pepper king prawns
Char sue pork with Cantonese sauce
House special crispy noodles
Yung chow fried rice
Crispy Fillet Steak Peking sauce and chilli (crispy shredded chilli beef)
The portions as you can see are big, the food was fresh, hot and good quality.
The staff were attentive and it was an overall good experience.
We accepted the waitress challenge, she said it was a lot when we ordered. Lady…I’m a pro!
I’d say it all gets a solid 8/8.5 out of 10.
I’m still yet to find a Chinese restaurant on a London level but this and Sky are good options.
We paid £105 with a tip. — eating dinner at Pavilion Cantonese Restaurant.

1-3 Middle St, ConsettLove this pub, i asked a mate a while ago whats the best pub in the small town centre ?, He said this place soi went & actually loved it..wetherspoons was absolutely rammed (no seats) so i walked out & came here, plenty of seats and an open plan set up really..Some of the older ones eyed me up but you get that in most pubs..staff very friendly and music was very low, plenty of screens to watch , i think the toilets are upstairs but i never went so cant confirm that..would i go again of hell yes, ? ?

Knitsley Farm Shop
East Knitsley Grange Farm, Knitsley, ConsettAbsolutely fabulous farm shop and café. We ate in the café, I had a ham salad and my husband had a steak baguette, the food was delicious and very large portions.
The staff were so friendly and made us feel really welcome.
The range of produce available in the shop was amazing and the gentleman on the butchery counter was so helpful and knowledgeable.

Blackhill Fish & Chips

The carpentry restaurant
1 Durham Rd, Leadgate, ConsettThis is now called the Italian House and not the carpentry house which is advertised on Google. We didn’t know where or what to eat this evening so did a Google search. We haven’t visited this establishment before but I feel that we will defiantly return. The service was friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely first class. I had a belly pork starter as I was hungry. This was made with a peppercorn sauce and was really nice. My decision to have the starter kind of backfired on my when my main arrived. It was at least a 10inch pizza, which I was not expecting! My partner had the Carbonara with Penne pasta. All of our food was absolutely first class. We can throughly recommend this restaurant.Vegetarian options: It’s an Italian so there is loads of vegetarian options
