Lovely evening, we shared the scallops & pork belly to start then the sharer butcher block for mains. Meat was tender and very tasty and cooked to perfection!!

We enjoyed Cocktails and Prosecco throughout the night and Alison looked after us making sure the drinks kept flowing!

Tim's Wood Fired Pizza

After some disastrous meals from the famous named suppliers, some dodgy locals that put profit before quality, we had become very disappointed with what pizza was on offer.

Decided to go to the furthest afield from our locality and tried Tim’s.

This was the first and definitely not the last, we will certainly use them again, possibly the best I have ever eaten!

The staff were nice as well.

TGI Fridays

Had a lovely meal here with my partner and our three kids. The food was all delicious and the service from Georgina was first rate. A really lovely visit and we will definitely be going back.

Tav meze grill

Everything was wonderful, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. This is definitely a restaurant everyone should try at least once. It was without a doubt one of the best Turkish meals I’ve ever had ?

Harvester - The Honey Pot

We went to the Basildon Festival Leisure restaurant. Although we did not have a booking, we were greeted warmly and led to table.
We were served by Ela and she could not do enough for us. Even though she was rushed off her feet serving other customers, she was very attentive to our needs.
She is an absolute credit to Harvester and along with the food made our visit an enjoyable one.

Pizza Express

We are relatively frequent customers to Basildon Pizza Express and we always are met thankfully by the same servers Zim and Felicia. Honestly they make our meal such a delight. Ive been many times alone with my 3 boys and they’ve been great helping keep the kids entertained while i sort the youngest or chatting away to them to make my elder two boys feel important. Foods always spot on and they go above and beyond checking if we need any more drinks etc. Its so nice to be able to go somewhere and see the same staff and build a rapport with them so you feel welcomed when returning. Food is always hot, delicious and you dont have a long wait. Thank you.

Matteus caribbean cuisine LTD

Incredibly delicious & flavourful food, curry goat was just perfection so soft and the sauce was slightly spicy but not over bearing. The rice & pea has great flavour and the plantain was so sweet. My partner had the ackee & salt fish and she said was the best shes had. The complimentary coleslaw was a nice touch to mix with all the other flavours. Will be back again soon for more! Thanks ?

Incredible. No words.
First time order, I picked the top rated in the area and they lived up to the praise.

Chicken Tikka biriyani was delicious and a generous portion size, 1 can easily be split between 2 people in my opinion. The bombay aloo also delicious and a nice level of spice in my opinion. Nice big Garlic Naan and a couple samosas on the side which were both lovely - BOSH thank you very much 5 stars all round, will definitely be ordering again or dining in.

Harvester Five Bells Vange Basildon

Fab experience tonight for my grandads 85th birthday! Faye was amazing and bought my grandad apple pie with a candle in it! So sweet! She even went as far as making the bespoke banoffee waffle with Oreo for me which was discontinued from the menu! And it was delish!!! Thank you Faye for a wonderful evening! Xx

My first visit here, food was good, quick service. Tasted nice and fresh. I had the veggie breakfast and there was plenty, very big plates. Price not bad, not the cheapest but certainly not the dearest. Will be returning, one of the better ones in Basildon.

Bella Italia Basildon

Popped in with my brother before the cinema, our server Max was super helpful and really friendly! He informed us of the 25% discount with a cinema ticket, offered brilliant, efficient service, and was overall just really lovely to talk to! Will defo make this our pre-cinema spot!

Delhi Akash Indian Takeaway

Great food before ....but even better now....as the recently closed akash is affiliated with this shop..hence the akash chefs now reside here!!!!....try the fish bhuna or lamb or chicken shaslik ....always fresh and tasty .....i look forward to the cosy akash/dehli fusion restaurant reopening on this site in the near future in harmomy with locals.

The Crane

First time in The Crane and I was served by Amy, very friendly and polite and gave me my and friends excellent customer service. She told us about the deal on the shots and advised us about the app to download for online orders and 10% sports app discount! A very welcoming and warm pub, will definitely be going back again!

Noak Bridge

We’ve been coming here more and more lately and it’s quickly become one of our favourite local spots.

The food is always really good, the staff are genuinely friendly, and the park is a big hit with our little boy – he loves playing there with his friends while we actually get to sit and enjoy it. It’s got such a relaxed, welcoming feel, and the weekend entertainment is always a nice touch too.

Just a really lovely local pub that we keep going back to within walking distance.

Nice place. Pleasant atmosphere. Very, very beautiful as soon as you enter. Nice music, staff not aggressive.Perfect for events, birthdays etc. Came here with the family, for a birthday. Everybody happy with the food, drink (Effes beer, draft, Whiskey etc.) Super tasty food (reason why we always select Turkish restaurants when we have this opportunity). Adams lofted, Klefticonlamb shank, pita bread, wings, appetizers etc.

The Veil restaurant & Bar

A hidden gem that I stumbled upon the first time and then drove 1.5 hours the second time to get some more. A fusion of Nigerian and Caribbean cuisine cooked to perfection. The small meats were so moreish. A must visit for anyone who appreciates good food.

Dil Tandoori

Best service from Ali. Ask for masala fries and even though they weren’t on the menu, the chef made them. And OMG they were amazing. Best food, best service and best company. Highly recommend

Sushi and Bento Basildon

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi and Bento House, conveniently located right by the Basildon bus stop, making it super easy to access. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The service was exceptional! The staff was friendly, attentive, and eager to help with the menu. They offered great recommendations, making the dining experience even better.

Now, onto the food—wow! The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Each roll was expertly crafted and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the unique specialty rolls that showcased a wonderful blend of flavors. The bento boxes were also a highlight, with a delightful assortment of items that were all equally tasty.

Overall, Sushi and Bento House is a fantastic spot for anyone in Basildon looking for delicious sushi and a great atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back for another meal! Highly recommended!

Five stars for the team at this location! Our server was incredibly friendly and made sure we were happy. The food came out surprisingly fast even though it was a busy lunch time. The restaurant was clean and had a great atmosphere for a family dinner. We’ll be back soon

Last night we had an excellent meal at the Basildon restaurant. There were 11 of us and the service and help was superb. Dom was patient with our indecisiveness and nothing was too much trouble. All staff that brought food or drinks to us were really lovely.

OMG Desserts Basildon

Received our food tonight. Ordered Dubai chocolate strawberries and Oreo milkshakes they are amazing and the delivery driver was so lovely ❤️ Highly recommend

Cannot fault the food, reasonably priced, as for the staff that serve you, they're rude as they throw your food on the counter and move onto the next customer without a thank you. Ask for battered sausage got normal on 2 separate occasions, got home realised it was too late! If the servers had better attitudes and smiled it would make this chippy 1st class all round, but until that happens many people say customer service is shocking

The Plaice to Go

Always good service. The fish and chips can not be beaten, absolutely delicious. The gherkin was missing from our order, then a few minutes later some very kind gentleman delivered two. Just can not fault them. Thank you.

Golden City

First Impressions
This is the first time I’ve ever given a Chinese takeaway five stars. I’ve been looking for a new local spot after stopping orders from Ho Ho in Basildon, as their quality had become too inconsistent for the price point. After running a poll on the Basildon community page, Golden City consistently appeared in the top five recommendations.

Ordering Experience
When I visited today, I did not initially realise they accepted card payments and all nearby ATMs were out of cash. I popped over to Pitsea to withdraw money and came back, which already says a lot about how keen I was to try them.

Customer Service
Customer service was a genuine 10/10. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, and they happily answered all my questions.

Food Quality
I ordered the special fried rice with duck and BBQ sauce, alongside the beef chow mein. The rice was full of flavour and generously packed with chicken, prawns, egg, and vegetables. Wow. Nothing like what I’ve had before from Wing Soon. It was also not greasy at all, which made a huge difference. The duck was moist and well cooked, and the beef chow mein was equally tasty, with generous portions of beef and great flavour throughout. I was also given a complimentary pot of chilli oil, which was absolutely delicious.

Value for Money
The total came to £17.80, which felt very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.

Final Thoughts
I was slightly hesitant about trying a new place, especially after Wok N Roll was also highly recommended but did not meet my expectations. Golden City, however, might just become my new local spot. The real test will be consistency on a second visit, but first impressions were excellent. I did make my own carrots and broccoli at home because fibre matters, but the main dishes were outstanding.

Highly recommend giving them a go. This review is based on collection only, as I do not use delivery services.

Absolutely love this place, if you want a good old proper local boozer then this is your pub staff are amazing as is Laura the landlad, you always get a great welcome every time not only from staff but from the patrons too...

PIZZA MAMA MIA

I ordered a pizza and it was made to perfection. The ingredients were fresh and normally I don’t like the crust in pizzas, but even that had a nice buttery texture. The staff were polite and offered me extra sauces. Definitely a new favourite??.

Basildon Kitchen

I come in to place a order was was meet by a lovely polite girl who took my order, she made my pizza perfectly just the way I liked it and looked clean and spoke very nicely and had excellent manners. The cook waved and looked nice too, he also done a great job with my food, salad was fresh and the sauce was nice. Kebab was good quality, not oily at all but could have done with a few more extra strips.
The only reason I didn’t give the food 5 stars is because the chips could do with an oil change I think they was a little brown but still nice.
I would order again. It looked clean inside and well organised and staff were polite.

I’m not saying its a place where the food is so good you have to come, but the food was better than most Chinese around here so i’d recommend if you’re around, plus the girl working there is really nice!

Ho Ho Chinese Basildon

The delivery came by in 15min, the food was piping hot. I had prawn balls, beef in black beans sauce,with special fried rice that I asked to be extra spicy. It’s my first order and I will be back for more!

Pizza Go Go Basildon

Update since previous review (now ive tried more of the menu i can assure you the amazing meal i had last time was not a one-off and this really is a 5 star takeaway) Pizza gogo was and is still the best place to order pizza from in Basildon. This time, I tried the thin base, which was incredible. Thankfully (unlike other pizza places near by) they are plenty generous with toppings. See the picture below for this. Like before, they continue to have very good value deals - normally, i can't warrant ordering pizza just for myself, but with their deals, I can. Great service as per usual, including very quick and polite delivery. All the food is hot and amazing! Thank you!

Taste of Bombay

Staff are expectional. So friendly and chatty.
Tried something brand new that isnt yet on the menu but definitely needs to be! Definitely recommend this Indian for good quality food and genuine staff.

Subway

I really like going to this place. I prefer this more than the other Subway in Basildon. The staff are kind both the lady, kevin, and some guys in the kitchen. I see myself eating here more often especially now that they can serve hot drinks.

Zara Indian Takeaway

We have been using Zara for our takeaway meals for many years. There has been a change of ownership and I have to say I’ve just had the best chicken tikka masala I’ve ever had. Very tasty and a lot of chicken. The tandoori super mixed grill is a really good size so very good value. All side dishes were really nice too! Well done!

Papa John's Pizza

Best pizza in the UK without a doubt, the deals are fantastic and the flavour is just a class above all the others. The service is fantastic and I have never been let down by them in 4 years of ordering from them, they have also never got my order wrong either so bravo.I went to collect a pizza last week instead of ordering as it was very late and they were near closing, despite it being so close to closing the guys there took the order with a smile and made me like always a great quality pizza which really helped me after a very bad and long day. Thank you to the staff at Papa John's Basildon.

The Castlemayne pub

My daughter had her baby celebration here. We took our own food. The staff were lovely and the drink prices were very good. They allowed us to set up how we wanted it. Would totally recommend holding a function here.

Brilliant Comedy night on 21st June 25. Every time we visit the place the Q Ball team are friendly and professional. Good reasonably priced drinks, great service and frankly can't think of a negative. Thanks for a great night last night!

Doorsteps Cafe

Absolutely brilliant little café. Classic greasy spoon done properly — everything you want from a traditional English café and more. The food is always spot on, hearty, and great value, whether you're after a full English or something quick and comforting.

The staff are just as good as the food — friendly, welcoming, and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Service is quick and relaxed, with that proper community feel you don’t get everywhere.

If you’re after proper, no-nonsense café food done right, this place is a gem. Highly recommend.

We have been here quite a few times now, every time have had stellar service and a delicious curry. The menu is quite good, reasonably priced curries and drinks and the staff are very friendly and are good with timings etc. One of the best curry houses in the area

Battleswick fish and chip shop

Went in for 2 cod and chips. Only needed 1 cod and chips as the potions are big.
Excellent food was amazing. Girl on till was very good and welcomed you when you walked in. Waited about 20 mins as cooked fresh when ordered. You can ring ahead with your order. You can also use card to pay. We live in Laindon 10 minute drive away, but it's worth it. Keep the standard going guys. Well done.

Miracles Bistro

Come here a lot and always enjoy the food, today was a little bit disappointing, the fried slice was only crisp around the edges, the middle of the slice was just soggy, also the toast had probably been toasted for 10 seconds and then butter spread on it, it was just a wet soggy mess, the staff are always helpful and friendly and the cafe is clean

Pitsea Kebab & Pizza

Best kebab shop in Essex! Highly recommend, they have a variety of options to choose from, the staff were very polite and got the order right and the kebab itself was full of flavour with generous portions the food was overall 10/10, I can’t wait to come back!

Orleto Lounge

Had a really lovely time here with my girlfriend the other night. The atmosphere was spot on—relaxed, welcoming, and just what we needed for a nice evening out. The food was absolutely top quality, full of flavour and clearly made with care.

Big shoutout to Piper, who looked after us all evening—genuinely one of the best experiences we’ve had with staff anywhere. Friendly, attentive without being over the top, and made us feel really looked after!

Dream Cafe & Restaurant

You can always rely on a good meal here, cooked freshly for you, and especially on this last occasion, served by a very happy and helpful waitress, who looked after us very well. We think this cafe is good value for money, and will most definitely eat there again.

Googled ‘Chinese’ in the area, found them. Went and ordered Egg fried rice, Chicken chowmane, sweet & sour chicken. Nice looking place. Friendly staff. Food was actually really nice. Chicken taste like chicken, cooked perfectly, good amount of sauces. Really enjoyable. Fair price too. Defo eat there again.

Using more and more, cannot fault the quality of the food, chow mein ( in my opinion) used to have a funny taste but now tastes A1, best curry sauce around and the 'chicken balls' are suburb (even though they are flat) you get loads of them, enough for 2.Do I recommend, definitely a yes and delivery is usually within half hour.Negative, no Chinese Calendar for my old mum ??

Absolutely one of the best bakers anywhere I love all Greg’s as always it’s fully wheelchair accessible and also service dog friendly I didn’t get the usual snarky you can’t bring that thing in here usually they mean the dog but some places have also banned me from bringing in my wheelchair they don’t get it when I say crawl but never in Greg’s the sausage rolls are to die for and the cherry Bakewell muffins are out of this world

The Plough & Tractor

This is a great local pub with a long standing history, the current land lady has just celebrated her 25th year. Atmosphere can go up and down but generally good especially when live acts are performing at weekends. It's quieter mid week. It would be nice if there was food available but there is a kebab/ burger bar in the carpark. Plenty of parking and occasional special events in the summer such as family days, Easter egg hunts etc and of course the staff are football mad so always ready to support local and national treams. New Year is always a good night.

Taste the best Laindon -Basildon

Im always a little weary when it comes to something new visisted on new years day after seeing my local kebab van was closed for the day glad to say i think i found my new favourite best chicken kebab w all salad n chilli sauce out there donner was amazing too!!

Tesco Cafe

Wonderful kind and efficient staff. The food was excellent and my son had drunk the milk from his iced latte before stirring and they refilled it, as it had become too strong. Honestly really worth popping in.

Delhi Pizza Naan

One of the nicest takeaways I have had in the area for a long time. Burger and wings were delicious. Will definitely be buying again and would recommend to anyone.

Went round the drive through last night with my mum and just wanted to say we were really impressed with the service and quality of meal. Our server was Mike, he was enthusiastic, friendly and what we all want through a drive thru - fast! I have been a McDonald’s manager before and I was really impressed, I’m sure he will go far. We ordered the new plant based burger with fries and we’re clearly made fresh. I have given 4 stars as the milkshake flavours were limited and the sprite, but I understand what it’s like running a fast food restaurant sometimes - it is what it is. Thank you Mike and the team for your quality service.
