The Square At Porthleven
7 Fore St, Porthleven, HelstonThis is the first review I’ve written in a long time, but when you go to somewhere like the Square you can’t but be amazed at the quality and attention to detail they put in to your overall dining experience. The food was some of the best we’ve had in Cornwall, but what the evening so memorable was our host Gaurav (this might be a terrible spelling). You’ll notice I said ‘host’ and not waiter, there is a big difference between the two let me tell you. A host is someone who makes you feel like you’re eating upon personal invitation in his own dining room. A host is someone who is emotionally invested in you enjoying your evening, he was quite simply a wonderful human being and it’s with going to the Square even if it’s jus to experience what proper hospitality looks like.

Went for a regular which was MASSIVE and the meat and blend of spices was perfect - well worth a quick pit stop if in the area.

Housel Bay Rd, Lizard, HelstonWe spent a wonderful couple of days here recently. The staff are very friendly and super efficient. The rooms are well designed and had everything we needed, with a very comfortable bed. The food at the Terrrace Restaurant was very good and the views just amazing. This place is a little gem!

I’ve had curry in most destinations around the country and most don’t get anywhere near food from the midlands -this place does. Trust me, this is a first class destination and very well priced ??

Penhale, HelstonMe and my boyfriend were visiting Cornwall recently, staying at the park across the way from this food van. We had just had a fun day exploring and went for a kebab and a hotdog. The people running this van were so lovely and friendly, we had a laugh with them while we waited for our food and when we finally went back to our caravan to eat it was absolutely delicious. Spot on service, brilliant food. Thanks guys!!

The Coffee Bean Restaurant
32 Coinagehall St, HelstonOverall good service and food. Even though they did slightly mess up one order, there were 5 of us eating and it was an honest (and non-serious) mistake. The waiter was polite about it, as expected, and brought out the correct meal swiftly.
My main problem is that the water was served in a really tiny glass, and that knocks them down a lot for me. The food itself was pretty good, nothing special nor terrible.
No massive complains except for the water cup. Nowhere near enough water for a grown man eating a meal.

New Yard Restaurant
Stableyard, Trelowarren, Mawgan, HelstonWe often eat in the cafe Flora next to the restaurant ( which is excellent). However this was our first time eating in the restaurant and it will not be our last.
The food was top notch, the ingredients were the best quality and perfectly balanced and cooked. The flourless chocolate dessert, one of the best I’ve tasted. The atmosphere was busy and buzzing and the staff were attentive enough without being overbearing.
It was a very delicious Sunday lunch.

Options were limited because of the factors above, but boy was it worth stopping in. The food was fabulous. We had soup, toasties and a pasty and each was excellent. The traditional English breakfast and scrambled eggs with mushrooms were both delicious. The coffee is also spot-on. Cosy atmosphere with great views over the harbour. Staff are really welcoming and friendly. We visited twice for breakfast but didn’t have time to go back for the crab sandwich lunch or tea and cake, all of which looked amazing.

6 High St, St Keverne, HelstonWe stumbled upon The Greenhouse by chance while we were travelling in Cornwall. We were fortunate to get a table at the last minute. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and standard of food and presentation. It’s truly a hidden gem! The small team of Neil and Leonie were extremely accommodating of our dietary restrictions. They were so considerate and went the extra mile to make sure we had a delicious dinner! Loved the cured salmon! Would always visit if we were around in the area! ♥️

Lighthouse Rd, Lizard, HelstonWalked from The Lizard to Cadgwith Cove hoping to have a spot of lunch, but the pub was closed! While waiting for a taxi we got talking to Nigel who recommended this bistro for lunch. Really glad we took his advice, the service and food were amazing. My husband said his steak and mushroom loaded fries were the tastiest meal he had had all week! Would definitely recommend coming here for lunch, and will return when we are in the area again.

Slightly disappointed with the coffees, as they all tasted the same (despite ordering different versions between us). Cakes looked good and the biscoff brownie was superb. Lovely place when the sun is out.

Helston Railway Trevano Farm, Prospidnick, HelstonIt was our first visit to the cornish carriages buffet cars and we will definitely come back when we are next in the area. We had an afternoon tea for 2 and for the price and the quality, it was excellent value for money. We even brought some back as we could not eat it all. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble even making one of the afternoon teas vegetarian.

It was really lovely.
The place was really well kempt - very clean.
Server was really kind and looked after us well.

It was quiet, but with music playing and the choice of watching TV too.
I noticed an advert for a pizza night deal - i look forward to coming back and trying it.

9-11 Coinagehall St, HelstonI am never usually a fan of a Whetherspoons...this one took me by suprise. The staff were brilliant and friendly, the interior was clean and renovated, the drinks very good value and overall had such a pleasant experience.
If like me you don't usually like the vibe in a spoons...this one is worth going to. It almost doesn't feel like a spoons!
Roof terrace was very contemporary setting and overall felt clean and comfortable. Great atmosphere and upkeep.

The Queen's Arms
Sethnoe Way, Breage, HelstonWent for the Sunday roast with my daughter today and it was excellent. The service was friendly from the moment we walked in and we were looked after very well by the staff. I had the roast beef and my daughter had the turkey, both with all the trimmings, all of which was cooked well and was super tasty. Service was quick and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you! Forgot to leave a tip as I thought my daughter had done so our apologies. However, we will be back for sure!

Barton Farm, Tregellast Cl, St Keverne, HelstonWe came here for a Sunday roast and were lucky to get a reservation with a short notice. The meat was cooked to perfection and the gravy was tasty. Nice atmosphere in the garden, however service was poor. There is a long queue inside and we didn’t feel informed about how ordering worked. For some reason we weren’t given the Sunday roast menu either even though we reserved a table for it. We recommend the ice cream.

Commercial Rd, PorthlevenNearly mistakenly judged this book by its cover, as the outside makes it look like it has poor quality products. So went in reluctantly as the children wanted an ice cream. Turns out they had roskilly’s icecream with decent flavours and the helston coffee roast was great! If we hadn’t just had lunch we would have happily ate here, as the providence of the food was nicely presented
