Absolutely brilliant staff. Chilli beef nachos, steak and ale pie, Black Sheep ale and lemonade all fantastic. Dining area inside spacious and cool on a hot summer's day. Gem of a pub.

Queens Head, Hawkshead

Main St, Hawkshead, Ambleside

I stayed at The Queens Head in Hawkshead this weekend with a friend and loved every moment. We booked a dog friendly room as it was the only one available at the time of booking, it was so spotless you would never know a dog had been in there, I would happily choose it again. The toiletries were lovely too with good quality shampoo and conditioner provided. Hawkshead is a charming, picture perfect village and the inn makes the most of its beautiful setting. Breakfasts were delicious and the evening meals and Sunday roast were just as impressive. Warm, welcoming and faultless in service, The Queens Head is the perfect place to relax, eat well and enjoy the Lake District.

The Old Cobblers Cafe

Main St, Hawkshead, Ambleside

The Old Cobblers Café in the Lake District is a charming and cozy spot that offers a truly delightful experience. The sandwiches are delicious, and the scones are simply a treat—fresh, buttery, and perfect with a cup of tea. I also enjoyed the soup, which was hearty and full of flavor, ideal for a comforting meal. All of this comes at a very reasonable price, making it excellent value for money. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this café is well worth a stop. ?

Absolutely brilliant! Food was very tasty, fresh, and quick to arrive. I had the fish stew which was delicious, and my partner had the chicken supreme which was equally tasty.
Desserts were fresh and out of this world!

Staff were very friendly, chatty, and attentive.

Can't recommend enough!

Absolute game changer!! these electric bikes were fantastic, made the family bike ride much more equal & able to ride longer distances. Myself & sister pre-ordered 2 x medium electric bikes but upon speaking with the shop & giving them our height they advised on ‘small’ bikes, which were perfect. We are both 5’4. The teenagers enjoyed trying them out too. We had 1 red electric & 1 black electric bike which were different to ride, the red felt more solid. I know i’ll be saving up to buy an electric bike after trying them out. The service, helpful advice & quality of bikes was excellent, would highly recommend.
We cycling from Hawkshead to the ferry, over to the Jetty Museum for coffee & cakes & a paddle in Lake Windermere. Myself & sister & kids went back on ferry & along shoreline to Wray Castle, then back to Hawkshead. About 4 hours including stops & Ferry. The others left the Jetty Museum/Cafe & cycled back along the main roads through Lakehead, Ambleside & met us at Wray Castle.
