Horse and Farrier, Dacre, PenrithEverything here feels just perfect — a peaceful village surrounded by vast grasslands, with beautiful stone walls running through. We arrived on a weekday around 12:30 and were greeted with genuine warmth.
Inside, the charm is undeniable: unique antiques, countryside details, and a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The menu is simple, and the food arrived quickly — every dish was a delight. The kids devoured their homemade pie, my husband enjoyed rich chicken liver with toasted bread, I savored the lamb dish with rich flavor. and we all shared the celery soup, absolutely delicious.
While waiting, I stepped into the small outdoor courtyard for a moment — and it was just as lovely as everything else. A perfect spot for both a good meal and a little slice of peace.

Rampsbeck Restaurant
Rampsbeck Grange, Watermillock, PenrithThis was one of the best 3 course meals I have had. Each dish was bursting with flavour with sensible sized portions. The hake was on pickled fennel which paired superbly with the prawn in pasta. The rhubarb was amazing. I will difinitely be back for the food. Sadly the edge was taken off the perfection by the 10% service charge added to the bill (our dinner was included in our room rate but the 10% service charge was not) and the service itself was a bit patchy. I just hope the chefs got part of the service charge

Howtown Tea Room
Howtown hotel, HowtownThe Howtown Tea Room is well tucked away and very welcoming. We found it a relaxing and friendly place, with excellent scones. The staff are helpful and smiling!

Howtown, PenrithLove the place Parkfoot & tj's come every year started with a tent 20yrs ago then caravan now using the lodges hopefully looking into buying would love to retire her its our second home staff site food are all 5* and above id genuinely say ignore any negative reviews I'm a picky person and cant find anything to pick wrong here hopefully back end of year ?
