Portinscale, KeswickMe and my family had a fantastic experience renting 2 kayaks and a rowing boat from Nichol End Marine today. All members of staff were very welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, and made the whole process really easy. We were given an explanation of equipment available to rent and what would be suitable for us. We were also given the option to book online or as a walk in and provided safety information before taking the equipment out on the water. I felt safe and well-prepared before heading out on the water. The location was beautiful, and the staff provided advice where to explore first. Everything was smooth and stress-free, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I’d definitely rent from them again in the future and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun day on the water!

If it hadn’t been for the owner’s thoughtful reply to my last review, I probably wouldn’t have returned—mainly because of the “No Dogs” sign. I’m pleased to say that dogs are allowed inside long enough to place an order, just not to sit indoors. Given the café’s limited space, that’s completely understandable.
The outdoor seating area is lovely, with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful. That said, I do wonder how much custom they miss from solo travellers with dogs who, seeing the sign, simply walk away. A clearer sign explaining the policy might help both customers and the business.
As for the food—absolutely top-notch. It tastes fresh and seems to be locally sourced, which is always a bonus. Now that I know the dog policy, I’ll definitely be returning.
