Lovely place to stay. We stayed for two nights and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The room itself was clean and had all we needed although it was a tad dated but honestly was fine and the bed was comfortable and large.
The thing that made our stay was the amazing staff from the bar staff through to the cleaners.
Food was good and plenty of choice.

Big shoutout to Kay who made our stay great. She went over and above to ensure we were looked after and was super friendly.

I would stay here again for sure.

We have celebrated 2 events at the Hollingwood in the past 2 weeks;we hosted my parents 50th wedding anniversary in the function room upstairs 2 weeks ago then this Sunday we hosted our daughter and son-in-law babyshower in the food section of the pub downstairs.
The venue is beautiful,the staff are amazing especially Chloe,Nicole & Elle.
Leanne goes above and beyond to ensure your events go smoothly and you have the best time.
Leanne does a lovely buffet with plenty of food infact we took food home from my parents party.
Thankyou all for letting us celebrate our families special days at the Hollingwood.

Always on a lookout for family friendly places to eat out. 2nd time we’ve visited and first with our son with us. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly staff member (didn’t get his name) guided us to our table. Sat outside as the weather is was nice. Our son loved the play area, which kept him happy whilst we decided what to have. Both me and my wife had the regular carvery. Nathan gave us a warm welcome to the carvery station and couldn’t do enough to make sure we had just what we wanted. Portions were generous and the meat juicy and flavourful, with all the sides excellent and plentiful. Little man loved his mac and cheese, grabbing mouthfuls when we could pry him away from the play area. Will be visiting again, very happy with the food and service.

We made in impromptu visit on a Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and chose three tapas dishes with a portion of chunky chips.
The service was timely and friendly and the tapas dishes were cooked excellently. The maple halloumi in particular was delicious and my wife commented that it was the best halloumi she had tasted.
Really well presented inside, the pub doesn’t draw you in quite as much from the outside, but don’t be deterred, give it a try.

Cocina Restaurant at Casa Hotel – Fantastic Food & Service!

Had a brilliant meal at Cocina - from start to finish, the service was great. The staff were attentive, making sure we were well looked after the entire time, which really made the evening feel special.

We sat in a lovely booth, which was cosy and comfortable, and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was just spot on - warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed but high-quality dining experience. The open kitchen was a great touch too - loved being able to watch the chefs in action, working their magic.

Now, onto the food… ace! Every dish was full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The scallop dish was and so was the steak. The peppercorn sauce could’ve been more peppercornery!

The team also gave brilliant drink recommendations - whether it was wines, gins, or cocktails, they knew exactly what would pair well with the meal. A massive thank you to everyone at Cocina for a lovely experience - can’t wait to come back again soon!

We stayed for one night and had the tasting menu in the evening. Chef and Patron Mark Aisthorpe, is a thoroughly brilliant chap and the food he created was simply outstanding. Because we booked late there was only a choice of one room which was the smallest room, however it was really comfortable and clean and made for a very cozy stay. there were bath robes included as well as all the toiletries, biscuits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh milk on request from the bar and even a little teapot. It was a very aesthetically pleasing room complete with a cuddly Highland cow to finish it off which became our adopted mascot for the night!
If you are looking for friendly owners friendly atmosphere and top class food from a very experienced chef as well as a wonderful comfortable room for the night this is the place to go. The surrounding area is also very beautiful, there is even a pond in the village with ducks which made for a nice evening stroll. Breakfast was also superb well cooked and filling. The pub itself was very clean and very well kitted out whilst still being cozy and traditional.

I'm 49 and recall my grandparents' Sunday roasts of the 70s. The food here is so good it reminds me of my childhood. Plus it's a warm, cosy pub with real ales and that rare thing, good service. I almost want to keep it a secret.

7 of us went for Sunday lunch. Everyone absolutely delighted with their food. But above that, they get the service right and for what you get, it's cracking value for money.

Unfortunately, this visit merited a complaint which I hope I offered without malice or animosity. It felt like a different pub from the one in which I based my initial 5 star review (and my family have visited numerous times and enjoyed 5 star service up to now).
We waited 50 minutes for the food. We requested a Yorkshire pudding be replaced as it was burned. The young lad said he would deal with this but didn't. Whilst we made this point, it should have been evident that there were empty glasses on the table.
We were not asked if we had any allergies when ordering. When food was delivered, no one followed up to ask if everything was alright.
These might seem minor affairs but the Fox And Goose has hitherto been untouchable for both food and service.
Hopefully just a dip and not a case of an overall drop in standards.

Needed somewhere to sit and edit some video as the missus was working in a nearby school. It was cold and raining, and I came upon this pub which looked warm and welcoming. The moment I entered I was immediately warmly welcomed and another log was put on the real fire!
As I was driving I couldn’t drink, and when I asked if I could have a cup of tea (must admit, this was a first for me!) and it duly turned up…free of charge!!
In a cold world where everyone seems to only be looking out number one, this was a real breath of fresh air, and something I haven’t experienced for a long, long time.
The music that was playing was cool, middle of the road stuff at a spot on volume. The whole pub was spotlessly clean, there’s a pool table, and everything you’d expect in a great local. If I lived around here, it would ?be my choice!. I’ll make sure to come back, and the missus will have to drive!!

We had the fish and chips Friday special, and special it was. A generous portion of fresh white fish in crisp batter. My wife’s request for light batter was cheerfully met, proving that everything is freshly cooked to order. The chips were delicious and the plate was nicely presented and very appetising. Two of us ate and had a drink for £22.00, a bargain indeed. We’ve booked to return for Sunday lunch with a friend at the end of the month.

I was visiting my brother so first time getting food here , the chap taking my order wasn't very chatty and it was two different sauce on separate kebabs and i asked him to mark the box so i knew what dox was what , he didn't mark it so getting home we then had to start looking .
Only one other person in the shop.and he he looked nervous tapping his feet and talking on his phone in anger god know what language it was and found out he was the delivery man .
The food it self was pk pita at the bottom folded with the meat on top then the salad then a pot of sauce in the middle.
On the menu it only says med large no small kebabs ? But the one i got wasn't med and definitely not large it was small compared to the normal places i go ,
Found out on my return back home that there are two other kebab shops in the village so i will be giving this shop a miss in the future .

I called in on Friday evening with friends. I wanted to compliment the staff on the service they give. It was 1 of the staffs 1st shift, young girl, who took my order of 4 pina coladas. The other staff stood by her and guided the young staff member all the way through how to make them. The togetherness, support the young staff member received was fantastic, and the drink were great!!!

They were so kind and accommodating of our (pretty niche) dietary needs. I'm vegetarian but allergic to allium vegetables, and my mum's gluten-free and made the whole experience really pleasant. There were loads of veggie and gluten-free options, even cakes, which is such a rare find! Honestly, it feels like they can cater to just about any dietary requirement. So understanding.

The food portions were generous and beautifully done - everything felt thoughtful and delicious.

I'd love to check out their fabulous secret garden next time on a warm day as it was a bit chilly today.

Christmas Eve and still a very very busy Wetherspoons manages to serve you quickly, and deliver your meal within 20 mins - how do they do it ?! Absolutely packed - so noisy - plenty of Christmas meetups. This was a halfway point for us on our way to Castleton - worked well, with a carpark immediately behind the pub. Where else can you get Fish & chips, halloumi burger & chips pluss 2 coffees each, for £20 !!! Great.

Delightful country pub with excellent home made food. We were warmly welcomed. The pub is decorated by someone who is a true horse-lover. We both ordered a pie - corned beef for me and steak and mushroom for husband. Both were generous portions with home made chips and peas and as much gravy as you wanted. Both delicious - unfortunately we could not manage desert.
