Neil's Restaurant
Radway, Vicarage Rd, SidmouthI’ve eaten at Neil’s Restaurant on a number of occasions, and it’s always been a fantastic experience. Neil, the chef, goes out of his way to please – my wife is dairy-free, and he created special dishes just for her. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, in a lovely location, and the staff are amazing: friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. All the fish and vegetables are locally sourced, and you can really taste the quality. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone

The Pea Green Boat
The Esplanade, SidmouthA lovely meal after a long day travelling. Staff are friendly and I found this restaurant really relaxing with its views of the sea and perfectly formed menu.\n\nFish is obviously available and was excellent either in fried fish & chip form or as a beautifully presented and tasty monkfish dish. Wine is available by the carafe, glass or bottle and was excellent. Fresh water just arrives which is exactly how it should be.\n\nMix of outdoor and inside tables and I was pleased we had booked in advance. Service was excellent, tipping optional but well deserved as nothing was any trouble and we felt very welcome.

Mocha Restaurant
Prospect Place, SidmouthLovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. There was a great selection of food available on the menu, and all at reasonable prices for the quality and portion size. \nWe had fish and chips and a tuna mayo sandwich, both were freshly prepared and delicious. We didn’t have to wait long for the food, it all came rather quickly and didn’t taste like it had been sat waiting or just warmed up. \nI would definitely come back here again when I revisit Sidmouth

Blue Ball Inn
Stevens Cross, Sidford, SidmouthThe Blue Ball Inn is in an ideal location for access to Sidmouth and the nearby Donkey Sanctuary. It’s on a main road so there’s a certain amount of traffic noise if you have a room facing the front. The facilities are very good and the rooms are clean and very warm, even at night without the radiators on. The food is excellent and the staff were exceptional in their friendliness and service, nothing was too much trouble! Our dog was made welcome, with grassland available by the car park for short walks. Overall, we were Very happy with our short stay at The Blue Ball ? Inn ?

Upper Deck
Manor Rd, SidmouthWe live in Sidmouth and I wanted somewhere different for my husband’s birthday. I decided on The Upper Deck after seeing the menu on line. We ate there yesterday for lunch and from the friendly greeting to paying the bill the whole experience was just great. The food was amazing (smoked salmon to start- my foodie husband asked what the tasty dressing on the salad was). My main was the ravioli, my husband had the sea bream. All delicious. The service was great too. I would highly recommend. NB we saw the afternoon tea and cakes being served to other tables, I think we’ll be back!

A375, Sidbury, SidmouthExcellent Carvery easily one of the best around. Granted the pub was busy but when we arrived and made ourselves known at the bar for our reservation we were given some menus and told to find our table somewhere in the restaurant to then sit down and a waitress came over and said ‘no don’t sit there I’m going to move you!’ Just dampened the experience slightly. Would return as the food is that good.

The Anchor Inn
Old Fore St, SidmouthWe visited this pub for food twice at lunchtime during a holiday in this area. We had eaten here once previously in October 2024 with family recommending it.\nWe found a table easily on our first visit although there were quite a few tables pre booked. On our second visit all tables were either pre booked or used by other customers however a lady we presumed was the landlady said that we could have a table in about 10-15 minutes which was very helpful.\nOn both occasions we ate the smaller appetite meals (Steak and Ale pie, Faggots, both served with mash and medley of vegetables) which were both delicious and extremely good value for money and decent portion sizes. The pie was one of the best we have tasted with plenty of tender meat.

The Blue Ball
Breach Hill, Sampford Moor, WellingtonLovely atmosphere, it's so nice to find a pub on Sunday where you can hear each other talk! Friendly staff who are happy to answer questions (and find out if they don't know the answers), fast service and very generous portions! Good for vegans and vegetarians (both in our party), with normal meat options and a 'catch of the day' as well. No one had room for a pudding but they had a good looking menu, and most people had a tea/coffee. Easy to split the bill, didn't feel hurried - top marks!

5 Old Fore St, SidmouthMy children had booked The Loft for my birthday meal and it was a superb afternoon. Sebastian made sure everything was perfect and was very attentive and patient given we had a boisterous 2 year old with us and he had set the table for the older children with colouring sheets and pens - very thoughtful !!\nAgain he was so considerate when organising when the meals were being brought out to keep the children happy as some adults were having starters.\nAll our meals were absolutely delicious - would not hesitate to recommend - a huge “Thank You” to Sebastian and his wonderful team for making my birthday meal one to remember …. We shall be back !!!

The Swan Inn
37 York St, SidmouthMy friend and I went here for an evening meal 5 October 2025. The people were lovely, we had a laugh with the hosts and the cook served us personally at our table. She pulled out our chairs for us and bought us exactly what we wanted. I had the 4 cheeses Macaroni dish and it was absolutely gorgeous. Served with fresh garlic bread that was perfect texture, not cold and brittle like some places serve. The side salad was also a delight, with a lovely citrus burst. The food is A1 wonderful! We didn't have to wait too long - it was worth the wait anyway, for freshly cooked and prepped, piping hot food. A good value meal that filed us up with quality ingredients and delicious flavours.

The Old Sawmills, Hawkerland Rd, Colaton Raleigh, SidmouthDriving an Artic the main road in very tight and busy with buses tractors and trucks I had to go up to turn my truck around and come back on myelself as a bus had no where to go blocking my entry into the road leading to entrance! Also be careful of the road going in if turning left on exit get far over as you can to the right as you just miss wall on the left with trailer! Shouldn't be sending us down here really its fine when you get in a big one way system in place clearly signed up for ambient/chilled/frozen delivery's got tipped straight away. If delivering in a truck just take your time dont worry about who is behind you we have a job to do at end of the day ?

The Belmont Hotel
The Esplanade, SidmouthHave just stayed for 3 nights at The Belmont, Sidmouth (10-12th Sept) and had a very nice time. However I did just mention to the reception staff that my husband was celebrating his 80th birthday on 12 Sept and although I wouldn't have expected a fuss I did think it would have been a nice gesture for them to have perhaps just given him a drink on the house with his dinner on his special day, but nothing. Very disappointed. Mrs J Chinnick

Station Rd, SidmouthA family run hotel, the host was very welcoming, spending time to take us around the hotel, with explanation. A unique idea of an 'honesty bar' treated as an adult, even having an actual room & front door key! Room was well presented, modern on suite & car parking spaces on site.
Walking distance to the sea front.
Would recommend this as how bygone age hotels used to be. You can even pay in cash!
