Las Iguanas - Torquay
Abbey Crescent, 4 Abbey Sands, Torbay Rd, Torquay10/10 hands down best tapas I’ve ever had. The menu had so much choice! The £15 unlimited tapas was unreal and such a good offer. The mocktails were so tasty especially the Cocoa Carmel, it tasted like a milkshake! The staff are so attentive and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Big shout out to Mark our server and Mikee the general manager you made our evening perfect and we cannot wait to come back again.

Was served by Tania, who was more than helpful, and we know it wasn't a one off as the last time we went to Stonehouse we were served by her and she was equally as helpful.
Food was as good as always, in our party we had 6 adults, 1 teen and 2 children under 10, so we had a mixture of meals ordered all were good ?
Will definitely be returning.

The Thatched Tavern
Steep Hill, Maidencombe, TorquayThis was a new find and despite the sat nav ending with a ‘turn left’ instead of a ‘turn right’, the trek through the back streets of Torquay and out on to the coastal road, was more than worth it. Nestled at the bottom of a steep hill and apparently in the depths of rural Devon ( the sea actually, is less than a mile away ), first impressions are ‘quintessentially English’ positive. Thatched roof ( the clues in the title ! ), attractive gardens, surrounded by woods… Inside is distinctly ‘warm’ in that typical Gastropub sense of the word ; clean, fresh & modern. Quickly seated, we were immediately armed with menus and our drinks ordered. Lots of familiar & tempting dishes and those we chose were great - tasty, quality ingredients and well presented. We enjoyed and appreciated the quietly energised vibe. Alfie & Teagan were 2 of our servers. Both were friendly, animated, responsive & ‘on it’. The other 2 guys ( whilst totally ‘efficient’ & ‘professional’ ), were frustratingly lacking in any motivation to engage and were somewhat ‘programmed’ as a result. Give them a dose of ‘relaxed authenticity’ and the customer service proposition here generally will be very good. Great value ; a strong recommendation.

The Elephant Restaurant
3&4 Beacon Hill, TorquayThe Elephant in Torquay is a true gem. We were accepted at the last minute, and the team couldn’t have been more welcoming. The service is always warm, attentive, and professional, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere from start to finish.\n\nHaving eaten predominantly in fine dining restaurants, I can honestly say that The Elephant stands out for all the right reasons. Chef Simon Hulstone and his talented team consistently deliver dishes that are beautifully presented, balanced, and full of flavour. The focus on local, seasonal ingredients really shines through, and the seafood is always exceptional — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of character.\n\nDesserts are light, inventive, and the perfect way to finish the meal.\n\nI genuinely can’t understand anyone moaning about this place — perhaps they don’t appreciate what fine dining truly is: precise portions, carefully balanced flavours, and attention to detail that elevates every plate. Under Simon Hulstone’s expert guidance, The Elephant always delivers Michelin-quality food in a friendly, unpretentious setting. It’s one of Devon’s finest restaurants and a must-visit for anyone who truly values exceptional food and genuine hospitality.

MEAT59 Torquay
59 Abbey Rd, TorquayTo start with I’m not a great fan of burger restaurants, they often talk a good game but in the end they just make a simple burger, this place is different. I can’t explain how good the burgers were, good ingredients that complement each other. One standard burger and one skinny burger happily consumed. Service was exceptional. Gurkha's Inn
47 Abbey Rd, TorquayI don’t usually write reviews, but I had to say something about Gurkhas Inn. Me and the missus went in after a long day out with the kids, and I tell you what – we were proper chuffed.\n\nStaff were lovely, didn’t talk down to us or nothing, just friendly and welcoming. The place has a cosy feel to it, nothing too fancy but clean and comfortable, which is what matters to us.\n\nNow the food – absolutely banging! I had the chicken momo to start, and they were packed with flavour. Then I went for the lamb curry (can’t remember the name, something Nepali) and it was one of the best curries I’ve had, no word of a lie. You can tell it’s all made fresh – proper spices, not that watered-down stuff you sometimes get. Portion sizes were decent too, didn’t leave hungry.\n\nPrices were fair as well – not cheap, but worth every penny. You get quality food without feeling like you’ve been robbed. We’ll definitely be going back, might even take my mum next time.

Smokey Joe's
64 Torwood St, TorquayI've been a regular at this steakhouse for a while now and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal here. The food is consistently excellent and the attention to detail really shines through every time I visit.\n\nThe ribeye steak, in particular, is a standout, always perfectly cooked to order, juicy, and full of flavour. You can tell the kitchen really knows what they're doing! The sides are just as impressive and the homemade mac n cheese deserves a special mention. It’s rich, creamy and the perfect comfort food, absolutely outstanding!\n\nOn top of the great food, the service is top notch. The waitstaff are always polite, attentive and genuinely helpful, which makes every visit a pleasure.\n\nWhether you’re stopping in for a special night out or just craving a great steak, this place never disappoints. The Kent's
1 Ilsham Rd, TorquayWe were a party of 3, we arrived a half hour early and had two allergies and one oap who only eats small portions. None if this was am issue for these highly professional front of house staff. The girls that looked after us are a credit to thier employers (sun 9th).\n\nThe interior design is very classy and the tableware is gorgeous, i want it for my home!\n\nThe wine list is absolutely brilliant too, loads of choice, some familiar trendy wines and some special rare ones, all reasonably priced. \n\nNow the food, lets break it down.\n\nThe sirloin beef was tender as anything, you could cut it with a spoon! An even soft pink colour, about 1cm thick slices with minimal fat.\n\nThe roasties were pretty good, but they weren't the star of the show.\n\nThe greens were incredible, perfect leeks and kale, vibrant and elevated with crispy onions and something i can't quite put my finger on, maybe a herb oil?\n\nRed cabbage was sweet and jammy with some subtle spices, just how i like it!\n\nThe carrots were also roasted with something else to make them extra special, and the parsnips were curried, amazing!\n\nA little pan of cauliflower cheese and the plate, a yorkie and a personal jug of gravy.\n\nAll that for under £20!\n\nMy search for the best pub roast in the west is over, thank you, you got it spot on!

Rockfish - Torquay
Victoria Parade, TorquayMe and my husband went here two days a row on our honeymoon, we couldn’t get enough! The food was just perfect: beautifully cooked in simple dishes to show off the natural qualities of each type of fish, always paired with delicious house made sauces and sides. Even classics like fish and chips were elevated, and seemed to just melt in the mouth. \n\nBoth days we were waited on by Riley, who was charming, welcoming and very helpful (and could memorise the name, description and price of about 8 daily specials a day which we thought was super impressive!). We also had lovely service from Calla, who made a table for us especially for our honeymoon with some lovely art, and was very sweet in wishing us congratulations.

The Belgrave Beefeater
Seafront, Belgrave Rd, TorquayMy daughter chose here for her 17th birthday meal and the kids are fans of the brand.\n\nEasy online booking we parked in the Premier Inn car park which is free for customers provided you input car registration on arrival in the restaurant.\n\nPrompt service and attentive staff saw us have a pleasant meal. Three adults and 2 children (5 adult meals) with drinks was £74.00 with a 25% Blue Light Discount.\n\nFood was good and all very efficient. Staff seemed a little over-stretched as the banter we have had in the past just wasn’t there. I got the impression there might have been an IT issue on the tills.\n\nEither way it was good to see a new menu although it seems to have been slimmed down a bit.\n\nOur server Trina B was really good but maybe they need more than four servers that I saw, as one loses that contact and brief chat with your server that makes it memorable.

7 Beacon Hill, TorquayWe ate here for dinner while on a short break in Torbay and were really pleased to have done so. \nThere was a really good selection of fish dishes available (we chose from the specials board of the day) and the fish which we had was really fresh and well-cooked.\nThe ambiance in the restaurant was good, with nice decor and an atmosphere which was at just a nice level of liveliness. The staff/ family were really helpful and I liked the idea of being shown the fish at our table before we made our choice.\nThe prices were very reasonable for the high quality (including a good selection of wines by the glass). \nThis is definitely somewhere which we will look to come back to next time we are back in Torquay

Biancos Italian Restaurant
38 Torwood St, TorquayWe travelled 3 hours to get to Torquay for our valentines weekend away and diner at Bianco’s was my first choice. We booked a table at 9.15pm. Being valentines night the restaurant was extremely busy-we were shown to our table upstairs which was placed just at the top of the stairs which meant everyone walked directly up and passed the table. I wasn’t happy and mentioned to the maitre de and he stated it was the only table left. We were deciding what to do when a lovely member of staff (lady in a red T-shirt) very kindly moved us to another table. This turned our evening around. All the staff that served us upstairs were fantastic. \nI had king prawns for starter and my husband has the soup and said it was the best minestrone soup he had ever had. I had the special fillet steak which came with the most delicious sauce and hubby had Sirloin steak both of which were cooked to perfection. Even though our booking was late we didn’t feel rushed we all. The whole meal couldn’t have been any better in any way. Thank you to the for making it such a memorable evening despite the slightly shaky start.

Best for value and size of fish. The extra large haddock for £8.99 is very big and hangs over a typical plate with nice batter and the chips are big and chunky and taste clean. Just a bit too much for one.
They also do kid's haddock bites that are too much for an adult and only cost a few quid, unbelievable.

No 7 Fish Bistro & Wine Bar

Proper impressed with this place. Will definitely return

Mr Cook Steak & Grill House
1 Walnut Rd, TorquayAlways an absolute joy to dine here, tonight we brought a vegetarian friend here for his birthday.
The music is like a Samba hug, the friendly welcome and superb unrushed service such a relaxing change and then there's the food. So many superb flavours to enjoy, freshly cooked and enticingly presented.
Delicious fun cocktails to start the evening and a superb Rioja to accompany the meal.

Cary Arms & Spa
Babbacombe Beach, TorquayMyself and my partner visited the Cary arms today - we were lead up to the spa by Nick who was incredible (a credit to the team) The spa was so quiet, clean and tastefully decorated. Everything was explained fully. The spa itself was gorgeously quiet - thankfully it was a beautiful day and we could sunbathe outside on the terrace. The pool was a beautiful temperature. After our spa we went down for lunch which did not disappoint. The food was delicious! The staff could not do enough for you! They clearly look after their staff too as they were all very happy. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a blissful few hours x
