The food is great and well worth a stop if you are in the area. And they even have karaoke on a Saturday night!! And they'll even let you sing Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Greenday.......and it's 6 minutes long!!!! Do yourself a favour, and go there!!!!

9 Market Pl, Barnard CastleEnded up deciding on an Indian takeaway and wasn't disappointed with our choice! A very extensive and even quirky menu suited to all tastes.
The main dish portion sizes were huge - especially the chunks of chicken! It properly felt like you're getting your money's worth.
The quality of the food was bangin'! Really tasty, succulent and cooked perfectly.
If I'm ever going to be in Barnard Castle again, I wouldn't hesitate to return!

The Crown at Mickleton
Mickleton, Barnard CastleVisited a couple of times when staying in the village. Friendly welcome and responsive when double checking serving times and making a booking. Enjoyed a beer in the garden at the end of a walk. Food was great and we were tempted by the three courses which we enjoyed. Good atmosphere with a mix of diners and space for regulars to have a drink.

11 Galgate, Barnard CastleHi went in here by chance , went in early on Saturday night,the manager kindly squeezed us in , 3 of us ,lovely venue ,staff lovely and friendly, partner had a bad boy veggie burger, really enjoyed it; I had meal off the specials board , it was chicken breast with cheese and peppercorn sauce, it was amazing,the reason I say it was to me chicken breast is hard to make exciting! But wow it was beautiful, really moist and tasteful, would definitely recommend here, we will be back I'm sure when next on hols , thankyou

14 Horse Market, Barnard CastleHighlight of our day finding the Crobar. We visited Barnard Castle with family and friends and the staff immediately offered to move two tables together for us to all be seated together. The staff were all so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us and we felt well catered for. The food was delicious and the presentation was lovely, we all enjoyed sharing and tasting the variety of cuisine and the atmosphere was so nice, we enjoyed having a lovely shaded area as we visited during a heatwave, so the shade was much appreciated.
Highly recommend the Crobar and we will definitely be visiting again!

Cross Lanes, Barnard CastleHad a small breakfast with a latte and the farm produce was excellent.
The lovely lady on the till ( with neck tatoos)was superb, made me feel very welcome and was great to chat to.
She said( hopefully) the shop will be getting doggy ice cream in as it is all the rage. The sausages for the dogs was the same as for us lucky humans and yes totally delicious, our 4 legged friend loved it.
The bottled beer which my wife brought was excellent I liked the Ruby beer best.
Top marks for everything!!

10 Horse Market, Barnard CastleGreat, fresh, modern place which has clearly been lovingly created within an old building. Staff friendly. Chap gave us a bit of history of the place and his times as a DJ (which explained the great ambient music). Fabulous products on sale easily compare to that of renowned chocolatiers I've had elsewhere. First thing we checked when we got home was to see if they delivered! Good to see a business thriving on today's high street.

I lot of discussions were had about their award winning pies, but I really wanted to check out the Fish and chips. They were brilliant. So we bought pies to take home!

The Kirk Inn
Romaldkirk, Barnard CastleHad to make a return visit to this special country pub when we were staying in the area. Very much as we remembered it and enjoyed the welcome from the memorable landlord and his lovely dogs. As others have said, one real ale is available but it was a good pint and that suits me! Was nice to see some of the locals gathering to hold a meeting of some sort when we visited. We have to keep these places going!

The pre 6pm fixed price menu fills the restaurant with families. We had a range of pizza, pasta and primi piatti, all cooked and presented beautifully. Good wines available too, helped round out a long, enjoyable evening.

34 Galgate, Barnard CastleTried here this evening with my work colleague ordered chicken chowmein, a bag of chips and some vegetables spring rolls.. chowmein I asked for with some oyster sauce very fair sized portion was impressed, the chips was a very large bag from what I'm used to getting back home, and the spring rolls I got 12 of those.. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal the chowmein was outstanding, chips really nice aswell & as for the spring rolls they tasted outstanding aswell cost for the meal £13 quid pretty reasonable priced to be honest and a quick service aswell, so thanks! 30 Market Pl, Barnard CastleAlways a lovely place to pop into for a drink and bite to eat. Lovely beer garden which is a sun trap, well maintained and plenty of seating area. Plus it's dog friendly too! We popped in for food and drinks this time and we were not disappointed, the food was absolutely glorious, the special salt and chilli chips were unreal, the crispy chicken burger was huge, and juicy with great taste and the special vegan and gluten free veg burger was amazing too, not dry and had a great taste! Highly recommended popping in if you're in the area, staff are friendly and welcoming.

16 Market Pl, Barnard CastleI went here yesterday the place was spotless, the two ladies were lovely and the food was delicious and fresh it's the best kebab I've had I had pitta bread with mixed mint salad on top with garlic and a portion of donner kebab and a pizza I will definitely go back there again next time I visit Barnard Castle???
