Hearts of Ampleforth
Fir House West End, YorkWe had planned to go for lunch in Ampleforth, but it was the amusing message on the A-board outside this café “You give us money, we give you cake” that caught our attention and made us stop. We’re very glad we did.
The café was busy and full of life, with a short wait time of around 5–10 minutes, which was absolutely fine. Spending that time eyeing up the fantastic selection of cakes under the glass domes was a pleasure in itself. We were soon seated and our order was taken promptly.
I felt compelled to leave a review because the experience was excellent from start to finish. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, the staff very attentive and the customer service was outstanding. The lady serving us (who I believe may be the owner) offered such genuine, warm hospitality, you could really see how in tune she is with her customers and how much she cares about creating a welcoming, community-focused café.
A big thank you, next time we are in the area, we would definitely return.

The Stapylton Arms
Wass, YorkStapylton Arms. The food was absolutely gorgeous, we went for the pie and chips, and it did not disappoint. The chips were incredible, and the pie was packed with meat and smothered in the most delicious gravy. Hearty, comforting, and beautifully done.
What really made the night, though, was the company of Cameron and Ben. Their warmth and attentiveness added something special to our dining experience. Fantastic service from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back!

White Horse Inn
White Horse Inn, West End, Ampleforth, YorkI came to eat out at The White Horse twice last weekend - on Friday and Sunday. The lovely young woman at the bar recognised I was on my own and suggested a table in the snug. It was perfect for a solo diner and I’m very grateful for her thoughtfulness. The food and service on both occasions was top notch. The pub is warm, friendly and cosy - a lovely, unpretentious place to relax. I can’t recommend this pub too highly. I hope one day to return. It was worth travelling for ?

The White Swan
East End, AmpleforthWe celebrated our friends 50th birthday with a late Sunday lunch. The pub was warm & welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, generous servings of meat & beautiful fresh vegetables.Fabulous home made desserts which we couldn’t resist ! The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Give this place a visit, you won’t regret it !

Hawnby Tea Room
Front St, Hawnby, YorkAbsolutely fabulous cafe and shop!! The atmosphere and decor of the cafe and snug are so inviting and the food was delicious! They’re also great for gluten free options - their gluten free banana bread was amazing! Will definitely be back again!
