1 High St, Melrosepre ordered sandwiches and sweet treats for a work lunch - sandwiches were fresh with delicious fillings and the chocolate brownie was amazing, lemon drizzle was very light and tasty. Will definitely be back and would recommend

Abbotsford The Home Of Sir Walter Scott
J62C+46 Abbotsford House, MelroseThis is a beautiful house of modest size set in a sublime aspect. It is best viewed after entering from the car park from the first floor balcony of the visitor centre. Happily you can also enjoy a pleasant meal while taking in the view. Taking the path down to the house you pass adjacent to the walled garden. First enter the chapel on the left hand side. A beautifully peaceful place to dwell. Then retrace your steps back outside and enter the house after passing through a stone archway. Friendly volunteers welcome you and offer an audio tour should you wish. Only the ground floor is open to visitors but there is a tremendous amount to take in including the interesting range of artifacts which Scott collected. Once finished in the house then the gardens, which are remarkable well maintained, are worth a gentle stroll. Whrn we visited it was a very hot day so we took advantage of sitting on one of the traditional deckchairs near visitor centre. There is a very reasonable parking charge of £2 per day (August 2025). This is a very worthwhile place to visit.

Old Melrose Estate & Holiday Cottages
Old Melrose Estate, MelroseMy wife and I spent a lovely week in March 2025 staying at River Cottage on the Old Melrose Estate. The cottage has everything you need and furnished to a good standard. The peace and quite with lovely walks straight from the door are what appealed to us.

At our table with one omnivore and one vegan we both enjoyed our meal very much - please preorder your vegan menu since there is no such option on the standard menu.

Gattonside, MelroseOverall an excellent experience. Friendly, one feels 'looked after'.
Local food, always delicious.
Feels pricey by Borders standards, but quality wise it really is a cut above anything else in the area.
The same food and experience in Edinburgh would be eye wateringly expensive.

Hunters Stables Bar & Bistro
Moorfield, Main St, St Boswells, MelroseFirst time coming here, will definitely be back. Took my wife for our 1 year anniversary. Staff go above and beyond. Food was absolutely fantastic. My new go to restaurant. Book early to avoid disappointment as always busy. Thanks guys for a truly amazing experience.

The Townhouse Hotel
Market Square, MelroseAmazing staff and you shown us kindness and great hospitality.
Wondered off the street and asked if they had a quiet spot in the corner out of the way of other diners so we could bring our nervous rescue dog with us.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating on a Friday night.
For us it was a great experience as we got to have a romantic meal and the food was delicious and also being able to bring our rescue to get him socialised with being out in public.
See you again when we come back up north. A very memorable dining experience.

13 Morow Gardens, MelroseVisited Simply Delicious twice in 1 week. Absolutely Fabulous chocolates…..you really, REALLY need to visit. Chocolates are made on the premises…and are out of this world. Will be back and certainly ordering chocolates for Christmas……lady in the shop is so very helpful….she made our visit….

West End House, High Street, MelroseJust what we were looking for! We enjoy quality food, cooked to perfection in a friendly and professional setting. Provender provides all this. Nice range of choices. We shared the surf and turf which was cooked perfectly - the prawns were melt in your mouth. Highly recommend.

Buccleuch St, MelroseExcellent meal last night in this lovely restaurant. We were on holiday, visiting area and cannot fault the food, all 3 courses were delicious pate & I had scallops followed by chicken stuffed with haggis & my husband had lamb chops (cooked perfectly) and deserts did not disappoint either. Wine was lovely as was the beer and very reasonably priced too. Service was good but not many people in so lacked a bit atmosphere. Surprising for a Friday night, as quality of meal was fantastic!!

The Green, St Boswells, MelrosePopped in for lunch today 16/3/24. Had The bloo coo burger. It was phenomenal, best plate of food I’ve had for a while, definitely worth a return visit. Lovely decor & waitress was really nice & friendly.
