Red Rd, Alton, Stoke-on-TrentLove, Love, Love this place ! The walks are fabulous in this area and this cafe is an absolute Gem . The staff are so efficient and sitting in the garden or potting sheds whatever the weather all year around is just wonderful. Food is 5 star also and carer for many food variation like veggie/ Vegan/ dairy free etc . Dogs so welcome and treats for them too. Indoors is more dining room dining and less muddy boots Vibe, gets busy so book that part. Highly recommend. Parking gets so busy so plan to walk or cycle is a good option. Walk from Denstone along railway line makes a great walk with food as a treat before return walk.

Food was delicious, lots of vegan and vegetarian options for my partner as well. Very pet friendly, with small and large dog beds at the front door and a bowl of water for the pooch. There were 14 of us and we complicated things with last minute changes to numbers due to sickness.
Staff couldn’t do enough and everything went very well and smoothly.
They re-set the table and made space for 2 prams for our newborn babies.
Nathan was our allocated waiter and took the time to go over the changes to the pre orders, last minute changes and allergies to ensure they were all correct.
Great food and service.
Lovely atmosphere too.

Waiting time exceeded 30mins plus and when it did arrive it was no where near the best, slot together stuffing virtually none existent on one half of the bread and the other half we'll not much better .
Chips were warm but most were hard and after mentioning it to Sandra she without hesitation replaced the chips , touch wood slightly better
I'm not one for leaving negative reviews but I do believe these issues need to be highlighted in the hope it doesn't happen again.
Staffs Abby and Sandra were great and couldn't be more helpful but I think a little advice on making sandwiches would be a good advantage.
I'm understand it's not a fast food restaurant but half and hour plus is pushing it a bit too far.as prices increase customers will become more picky and as a restaurant it needs to get it act together for the sake of the business.on the hole the atmosphere was great but sadly the meal was not eventful down to the cheese cake if the servings get any smaller it won't be worth having.
Traing required on how to make a sandwich and it would be a step in the right direction.

Hoar Cross Hall, Maker Ln, Burton upon Trentwe have been coming here for nearly 30 years and have seen many changes over the years. I've been twice in the last 2 months. I've not been well and they have gone over and above to meet my dietary needs. I was unwell when I was there a few days ago and they were fabulous in taking care of me. I absolutely love the roof top terrace and have been 4 times since this opened. the staff are all polite, helpful and extremely professional. can't wait to return.

A young man working there noticed she was struggling with her food and, without hesitation, offered to help her back to the car. He didn’t make a fuss, didn’t make her feel uncomfortable — he just stepped in with genuine kindness and a smile. That sort of attitude is rare these days, and it meant the world to us.
It’s small acts like this that make a huge difference to people’s day. Thank you to the young man and to the team for showing compassion, respect, and proper customer care. You’ve earned our appreciation and our repeat custom.

A53, Stoke-on-TrentFour of us travelled up to visit Proctor's Nursery which is just down the road and initially wanted a coffee after over an hours drive up from our homes.
The pub had just opened for lunch and the menu looked interesting on what was a cold day so we decided to eat here. What a great choice! All meals home cooked and really tasty. Real value for money and pleasant surroundings. The chap behind the bar who served us was really helpful and looked after us without being intrusive.
There was certainly nothing left of the three steak pies and scampi that we had. Really enjoyable, tea and coffee good as well.
Will seriously look to visit here again on our next visit to Proctor's. Big thank you to the cook and the man in the bar.

We had the roast dinner but there were plenty of other options which looked equally delicious. Very generous portion sizes and very reasonably priced considering the high quality of food. The service was prompt and friendly, the landlord has only been there 5 months and he’s done a terrific job. We did a really lovely walk from the pub over the moor and to the reservoir. All in all it was a lovely day out.

I then ordered a take away for my son & his girlfriend, they had a pulled pork baguette and smash burger with wedges. I delivered them to the office and they both said how amazing the food was. The food was good quality, very nicely cooked and excellent value.
The chips are particularly good, but the fish batter and fish itself were equally good and the batter was nice and crispy.
No soggy fish batter.
I have full confidence that the kitchen staff are accomplished cooks.
However, the car journey to get here when within a mile or two of the pub is tortuous and tricky - for example a stretch of the Hollow is a busy narrow lane with few passing places which more often than not requires reversing to let oncoming cars through, which is a nightmare!
Then on the final approach to the pub the lane is narrow with parked cars and you have to navigate oncoming traffic.
There is also a tendency for cars to speed in the area of Mow Cop which is scary if you are a safe driver.

The take out cakes are huge, one portion could easily do 2/3 people and they also provide take out boxes if you want to take uneaten food home (we've got 2 dog's, so they always look forward to it ?? ?)

Current offer is £3.95 in the week. Good choice of lager and cider on tap too if that’s your thing. Moving onto the curry side of things, this is curry you’d find in a restaurant rather than pub fayre, and delicious it is too. Big menu and the prices are great. Order food at your table rather from the bar. Friendly service, although food service can be slow, so you may be ordering a few pints.

We had the roast dinner but there were plenty of other options which looked equally delicious. Very generous portion sizes and very reasonably priced considering the high quality of food. The service was prompt and friendly, the landlord has only been there 5 months and he’s done a terrific job. We did a really lovely walk from the pub over the moor and to the reservoir. All in all it was a lovely day out.

There were 14 of us and we complicated things with last minute changes to numbers due to sickness.
Staff couldn’t do enough and everything went very well and smoothly.
They re-set the table and made space for 2 prams for our newborn babies.
Nathan was our allocated waiter and took the time to go over the changes to the pre orders, last minute changes and allergies to ensure they were all correct.
Great food and service.
Lovely atmosphere too.

The Ashbank Stonehouse
216 Ash Bank Rd, Ash Bank, Stoke-on-TrentWent to the Stonehouse Carvery in Werrington, ordered chips along with a turkey and stuffing lettuce and tomatoe sandwich.
Waiting time exceeded 30mins plus and when it did arrive it was no where near the best, slot together stuffing virtually none existent on one half of the bread and the other half we'll not much better .
Chips were warm but most were hard and after mentioning it to Sandra she without hesitation replaced the chips , touch wood slightly better
I'm not one for leaving negative reviews but I do believe these issues need to be highlighted in the hope it doesn't happen again.
Staffs Abby and Sandra were great and couldn't be more helpful but I think a little advice on making sandwiches would be a good advantage.
I'm understand it's not a fast food restaurant but half and hour plus is pushing it a bit too far.as prices increase customers will become more picky and as a restaurant it needs to get it act together for the sake of the business.on the hole the atmosphere was great but sadly the meal was not eventful down to the cheese cake if the servings get any smaller it won't be worth having.
Traing required on how to make a sandwich and it would be a step in the right direction.
