We visited this fantastic dog-friendly pub during our stay in Barnstaple. Communication with the staff to book was very easy, and I would recommend reserving a table as it was quite busy when we visited.
The food was excellent. We started with the duck Scotch eggs, which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. My only small criticism would be the sauce, which didn’t really add anything to the dish, a piccalilli style sauce would have complemented it much better. That said, this is being very picky as I still really enjoyed it. The salad was lovely too.
I had the venison sausage and mash, which was very tasty. Unfortunately, there were a few small pieces of bone in the sausage and I almost cracked my tooth on one, but despite this I still enjoyed the meal. My partner had the venison burger and said it was one of the best burgers he’s eaten in a long time. The children’s pasta was also a very good portion.
The staff were extremely attentive, and it’s rare to find places of this standard offering great local produce in such a welcoming pub setting. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area again.

We really enjoyed our visit, lots of space for parking, great place, warm and welcoming. Great staff friendly and helpful and the food was spot on with plenty of choice. Restaurant side and pub side and obviously busy and all enjoying the pub. Looks a great place for summer with a big beer garden and games area.

First time visiting on Sunday, was greeted by a fire lit pub with friendly staff ready to make us feel welcome. We had pre booked and they made picked a suitable table for us and our dog. Nice selection of beers/ales and the food was 10/10! And loads of it! Highly recommend the roast beef

Absolutely fantastic pub for food, it was a recommendation from the Airbnb that we were staying at. Booked via the phone no problem. The staff were amazing ? and very accommodating helping surprise my mum with a cake for her 70th. Fantastic that we could bring the dog too. The steaks were cookec to perfection ? honestly I 100% recommend the jack Russell for food and the atmosphere was good too even with the rugby on.

Had a mid week meal with my Mum and daughter. Friendly service throughout, a beautiful menu and food was just delicious! 1st time we went there but definitely not the last. Have already recommended it to friends and neighbours as this is truly a great place to go in Barnstaple!

What an absolute gem of a pub and restaurant! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the cutest pub dog, who instantly made us feel at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with staff who don’t just serve you but actually take the time to have a laugh and a chat – it really adds to the charm.

The gardens are stunning – spacious, beautifully kept, and perfect for families. The children’s play area is fantastic; the kids were having the time of their lives while we could sit back and enjoy the surroundings stress-free.

And the food? Incredible. Every dish was cooked to perfection, packed with flavour, and beautifully presented. The drinks were even better – perfectly poured, refreshing, and just what we needed.

If you’re looking for a place with a great vibe, delicious food and drinks, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay all day, this is it. We can’t wait to come back!

Popped in for a coffee and a cake and was greeted by a lovely lady and shown to a table. Lots of different homemade cakes to choose from, I had a slice of coffee and walnut. It was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Never felt rushed and would go back tomorrow!

Firstly, the food here is AMAZING. The burger is easily the best burger in the southwest (not joking) and the chips are definitely pushing being the best. The food here also doesn't taste fatty like takeaways. It tastes amazing while also feeling like a healthier option. Then, the prices here are really good for a pub. Secondly, The vibe here is perfect. Its quite, but not too quite. You can easily talk without feeling like the elephant in the room while also not being surrounded by noise. It also has a bunch of games like pool, mega jenga and darts. This is place is seriously amazing. You NEED to come here.

Stopped into Queen Anne’s Café in Barnstaple and really enjoyed it. The egg mayo sandwich was fresh, creamy, and full of flavour, and the coffee had just the right strength to set me up for the day.

The team were friendly and welcoming, making it an easy, relaxed place to sit back and enjoy a bite. Definitely worth popping in if you’re in town.

Great cafe, superb service from the ladies working today and really impressed at how quickly they were able to advise on gluten products for a coeliac person - even stocking gluten free bread!

Excellent priced breakfast, only downside is that you’re charged for swapping items, e.g. swapping beans for another egg. Not a dealbreaker though! Will definitely visit again!

I stayed at Hunters for a week and I loved it. The rooms are clean, spacious, very comfortable, all the amenities you’d expect and great water pressure in the large en suite shower. Niky and the team could not have been more welcoming and helpful, they were absolutely lovely! And the breakfast was beyond fantastic! Even after a late night, I’d sacrifice a lie in for that full English! I’ll be back again next year and I’m already looking forward to it!

My partner and I went there for lunch today while visiting the area from Plymouth.
The food was plentiful and tasty.
But the reason for the review is due to the exceptional service from the young woman who served us. Nothing was too much for her. She brought a bowl of water for our dog, was quick and polite with a smile on her face. This lady was softly spoken with a kind face… a real asset to the establishment.
