Firstly, the food here is AMAZING. The burger is easily the best burger in the southwest (not joking) and the chips are definitely pushing being the best. The food here also doesn't taste fatty like takeaways. It tastes amazing while also feeling like a healthier option. Then, the prices here are really good for a pub. Secondly, The vibe here is perfect. Its quite, but not too quite. You can easily talk without feeling like the elephant in the room while also not being surrounded by noise. It also has a bunch of games like pool, mega jenga and darts. This is place is seriously amazing. You NEED to come here.

We’re visiting family in Instow and decided to pop over to Barnstaple for a wander around. We came along this restaurant after looking in the antique shop across the street and at first glance thought it wasn’t really our vibe but decided to give it a go. The service was lovely and attentive, and the food was incredible! It was the best meal we’d had the whole time we’ve been away. I ordered the mussels which were a very generous portion, in Cornwall if you order them they’re usually half the size. But I received a huge bowl in the most delicious sauce, they were the best mussels I’ve had in years. My partner had the beef burger and said that it was extremely delicious and very good quality meat. We split the bill and were surprised that it only came to £22.50 each including drinks. We left feeling very full and happy. Looking forward to returning again soon!

Lamb momo's were amazing, tikka masala, Lamb and chicken got top marks, chicken dall massu was absinthe, all rice, naans and sides are lovely. Staff were great would definitely recommend.

The staff are welcoming and my scrambled eggs, mushrooms and bacon on sourdough toast were beautiful!

Stopped into Queen Anne’s Café in Barnstaple and really enjoyed it. The egg mayo sandwich was fresh, creamy, and full of flavour, and the coffee had just the right strength to set me up for the day.

The team were friendly and welcoming, making it an easy, relaxed place to sit back and enjoy a bite. Definitely worth popping in if you’re in town.

We popped in here on the off chance whilst on holiday, and wow, we’re so glad we did! The Friday Breakfast Club at the Castle Pub is one of those hidden gems that you wish was right around the corner from your home. If only we lived nearer! The full English breakfast was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. Paired with a great cup of coffee, it was the ideal start to our morning.
It’s clear that this place is a local hub, with a steady stream of regulars who clearly feel right at home. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff make you feel like you’ve been a part of the community forever. It’s the kind of spot you can’t help but fall in love with. Highly recommend it, especially if you find yourself in the area.

Superb food and lovely hosts. We found this by chance whilst on holiday. I would recommend anyone in this neck of the woods to go and visit. Well worth the drive. Their knowledge of gluten free (and the fact almost anything could be done gluten free) was also fantastic. 10/10!

We had a truly wonderful meal at this charming country pub. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere set the tone for a lovely evening. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and everything felt unhurried yet efficient.\n\nOur party of four enjoyed a fantastic selection of dishes — all beautifully presented, hearty, and full of flavour. The mains that showcased quality local ingredients cooked with care. The highlight was the perfectly cooked lamb suet pudding, paired with crisp vegetables and rich gravy, though every plate at the table was met with equal praise.\n\nDesserts were the perfect finish — indulgent without being overwhelming, and clearly made in-house. Alongside a great choice of drinks, including well-kept beers and a thoughtful wine list, the whole experience felt special yet comfortingly traditional.\n\nAltogether, it was exactly what you want from a country pub: warm, inviting, and with food worth returning for. Having been living in Yelland, Devon for many years now, we've been lucky enough to actually find somewhere where the quality of food and service is always constantly good, which is very unusual these days. \nThe food served is sourced locally, always fresh and both well cooked and presented. We've enjoyed many breakfast and lunches but still to try the afternoon tea which we've been promising to have and will over the next fortnight. \nAll the staff are very kind, friendly and give impeccable service.\nI just cannot recommend this place enough, so go on, treat yourselves and have some the best food and service Devon can offer.

Great cafe, superb service from the ladies working today and really impressed at how quickly they were able to advise on gluten products for a coeliac person - even stocking gluten free bread!

Excellent priced breakfast, only downside is that you’re charged for swapping items, e.g. swapping beans for another egg. Not a dealbreaker though! Will definitely visit again!

I stayed at Hunters for a week and I loved it. The rooms are clean, spacious, very comfortable, all the amenities you’d expect and great water pressure in the large en suite shower. Niky and the team could not have been more welcoming and helpful, they were absolutely lovely! And the breakfast was beyond fantastic! Even after a late night, I’d sacrifice a lie in for that full English! I’ll be back again next year and I’m already looking forward to it!

What an absolute gem of a pub and restaurant! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the cutest pub dog, who instantly made us feel at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with staff who don’t just serve you but actually take the time to have a laugh and a chat – it really adds to the charm.

The gardens are stunning – spacious, beautifully kept, and perfect for families. The children’s play area is fantastic; the kids were having the time of their lives while we could sit back and enjoy the surroundings stress-free.

And the food? Incredible. Every dish was cooked to perfection, packed with flavour, and beautifully presented. The drinks were even better – perfectly poured, refreshing, and just what we needed.

If you’re looking for a place with a great vibe, delicious food and drinks, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay all day, this is it. We can’t wait to come back!

Lived in south molton for 11 years and last night was the first visit to the stags head inn, I really wish I had discovered it years ago, the pub outside is absolutely lovely and inside is really cosy. The staff was so nice and friendly and good food was delicious. I have travelled a lot and love quality food, and my fish stew did not disappoint it was flavoursome and very tasty. Highly recommend and can’t wait until our next visit.

We haven’t been here for long time as this has always been our fav restaurant to eat in. However, we came to find out there has been owner change recently. Just want to give a huge shoutout to the front of the house guy( didn’t catch his name) but one with the beard. He was very attentive and energetic. Also very informative and friendly. It seemed like he was the engine of the restaurant running the show and leading the team. Food was bit different to previous chef(which is obviously understandable) but still good and we enjoyed it. Could be less oily though, other than that we are very happy that our fav little spot is still running. Many thanks
