We booked The Beaver in for my Aunties 70th through a recommendation. \nUpon arrival (13 of us and inc a toddler) we were greeted by a welcoming team and James who took care of us all evening. \nThe atmosphere of the pub had a great vibe. \nEvery single meal was hot, fresh and delicious. The portions were very generous, and nobody could fault their meal. The menu was full of choice. \nI had the fish pie on the specials board, and it’s one of the best fish pies I’ve eaten. \nThank you for making my aunties birthday one to remember. \nI couldn’t recommend this pub, highly enough! Look no further and enjoy a delicious hot home cooked meal.

Staff were very helpful throughout of visit . We reserved a table upstairs and was asked if we wanted to stay inside it wouldn’t be an issue . The young man who served us was so helpful with our orders as some were different to the menu . Advised on food and drink and we took his advice and he was spot on . The food was fresh and plentiful. Thankyou my family was on a visit and it’s fantastic when they have a great time .

Went with my Mum for a High tea today and it was amazing! The cakes were light and fluffy, the scones beautiful and the sandwhichs tasty. The strawberries really topped it off, all served with ample tea. I will definitely be back for another one soon!

We're lucky enough to live relatively close so that we can visit often, but not too close so we don't visit more often than we should!!\n\nWhilst we've found the whole menu really good, the best thing by far about Atlantic Bay (sorry Chip Shop Cliff) is the Gluten Free Mondays. My wife has coeliac disease, but she has always enjoyed the GF fish, chips and mushy peas. I arguably prefer the GF batter if I'm honest. \n\nWe had another great meal tonight, and will be back again soon in 2026!

This munch box is fabulous!! Adding cinnamon to chips is a revelation! Have already started doing it at home! This is enough to feed 4 people!

The lamb doner meat has loads of flavour! It was so good, we went back for a kebab a couple of weeks later!

Great service, great value and huge portion sizes!

A nice environment to walk into on collection, kitchen is buzzing. And the atmosphere is very positive!

There was such a lovely young man serving me at about 6.30 27/02/25 his name was Jacob, he said he would go and check if he had any out the back. He did find some for me. Absolutely sensational food!! This establishment, will definitely be the new regular, after recently moving into the area.

Flavours are amazing! Special dishes are a must try! They are unique, and need to be experienced! The flavour of the lamb is glorious! Very high quality meat and ingredients, which is rare to find. Portion sizes are great!

Friendly staff, efficient service. A great buzz from the kitchen, which usually means great food! Ordered for collection.

My only minor criticism, is the restaurant area could do with modernising, to add to the atmosphere.. it feels a bit dated. But all things considered, that's the least important thing.

Having just moved to the area, we asked neighbours to recommend somewhere local to eat. Many recommended the Cyder Presse. We gave it a go on a Sunday and had a roast. The service was excellent. despite it being a full house (we did book), our food arrived promptly. Very delicious and filling. We both ordered a medium....we'd never have managed a large. It was such good value too. That was the best roast ever. We would strongly recommend the Cyder Press and will definitely be going back.

Friendly cafe with some fantastic food. I had a BLT and it was perfect! My partner had a toasted bacon, brie, and cranberry sandwich which was also excellent.
The polite and helpful staff were all smiles.
Some great desserts too and a tasty chocolate milkshake.
The place is dog friendly and has a decent outdoor seating area which has a good canopy to protect against the weather.

We visited whilst on a cousins weekend away and at 2:55 were told ‘we stop orders in 5mins but you are welcome ‘ well we piled in all 12 of us ladies were shown Upstairs where we filled the available tables the service was swift and excellent the food was the very best the staff were all so happy to help and genuinely happy in their work all in all a wonderful experience and one we would all highly recommend! Properly dog friendly, as my son and i went in with four dogs, rescues, and a couple were nervous, and they really did not mind, they even brought out chopped sausages for them. The food was amazing. My son had the loaded cheese scone which he said was delicious and i had the eggs benedict, also delicious. The owner was lovely and friendly and so was the lady helping him.

Visited today for the first time. Really comfortable pub with friendly staff. Jail ale, Powderkeg and Salcombe on draught. Nice looking restaurant on the back of the pub. Very tasty, well cooked food at lunchtime. Lots of music events advertised. We may come back later this week if time permits.

I pop in every time I am in the area because the coffee and food is fabulous! Everything they serve is delicious! The Pasties and Sausage Rolls are excellent.

Treated ourselves to a Apple Crumble Scone which was also delightful! They never miss!

The Cherry and Almond Croissants are absolutely superb! So much so I order a box of 10 to take back to my mum in the West Midlands every visit.

I want to thank Nathan for saving me money on buying more Croissants and Lynne for baking them! Both made the experience even better. All the staff are polite and very smiley going the extra mile to make conversation.

Great team, great manners, great cleanliness and great service.

Thanks again! Looking forward to coming back!

I booked the Italian kitchen for my girlfriends birthday meal, we didn't know what to expect. Unfortunately I didn't get any photos to add to this post, next time we go we will?\n\nIt was a fantastic experience freshly cooked, the chef/server treated us with kindness and was happy to go through the food options multiple times. We arrived earlier and sat at a table small restaurant but not cramped. \n\nThere are no physical menus but I believe this is to the forever changing and adapting menu so frequently that it would be impossible to keep updated menus without printing them daily. Don't let that put you off. \nThere are options on the chalk wall if you look around the room \n\nWe felt like the menu was set to be a 3-3-3 style so it can be adapted daily and that stands as 3 starters 3mains and 3 desserts. For the evening, (there was more mains such as wide range of freshly made pizza as we) \n(We could also be wrong about the style of menu but that's how we found it) \n\nAlso I personally like cider that wasn't a option however I did venture into a new drink for myself and I enjoyed it. Just because a restaurant doesn't have a certain type of drink doesn't mean its a bad place to eat, expand your drink choice it's a small restaurant with one chef/waiter cooking fresh food and serving at the same time.\n\nI apologise if how I explain the food doesn't sound delightful but it was delicious ? \n\nFor starters we had a sharing platter with different hams and cheeses freshly cooked bread with a honey dip. It was something I wouldn't normally go for in a restaurant however we do like to try new things where possible. \n\nMains we had Catalonia I believe it's called slow cooked beef and pork for 3hr in pasta with a really nice cheese sauce over the top \nAnd a freshly made pizza with ham that was on the platter cheese mushrooms. \n\nAnd desserts 2x hot chocolate brownies with mint ice cream \nWe also had 4x rosé wines pinot I believe and all together was around £70-£80 and it was worth every penny we also left a tip as it was such a wonderful night.

The downside was that we had been told on the phone the order would be ready in an hour. We arrived to pickup and then had to wait almost another hour until our food was ready.

Sitting on board you can watch the mullet swimming by, all the different sea birds feed,cormorants,egrets, storks,oyster catchers, geese, absolutely brilliant to watch We go most weekends and look forward to our next visit. We stopped here for a drink on an afternoon visit to Bideford with a coach party. The landlord and landlady were wonderful and friendly and we really felt like they cared about us. Mum had a coffee and said it was better than any she had been getting at our hotel. We would definitely pay this lovely little pub another visit next time we were in Bideford. Beautiful bakery with the most friendly staff. We had the most amazing fruity cro-nuts (I recommend the lemon meringue one) and bought some gargantuan scones and pasties. The scones are the biggest I've ever seen! They also sell local Devon clotted cream and local jam (you can order at cream tea box from here too). Can't wait to visit westward ho! again and come back to Bessy's bakery.

Popped in here last week after a walk in Appledore. We weren't massively hungry but fancied something light so tried the cod baps. I didn't know what to expect but having enjoyed fish and chips in the past from here, knew that it would be fine. In fact they were brilliant! A lovely fresh bap with four pieces of delicately battered, perfectly crispy cod with fresh salad and a tasty mayonnaise that was all seasoned perfectly. Not at all oily or greasy; just perfectly cooked. For £4.95 a portion this is an ideal snack on an autumn day leaving you satisfied but not sunk. Well done The Royal Plaice!

Eaten here many times over the years but not for 12 months so a bit apprehensive after seeing recent reviews. No need to worry. Fish was white and fresh without being overly smothered in batter. Chips were perfect, maybe cooked more than your regular place but I like that and I don't like your regular chips that all stick together in a lump. You do sometimes have to wait but hey, you're in one of Devon's most beautiful villages-enjoy the view, talk to your fellow punters or owner or have a swift half pint at the Champ! Just returned from the Sunday Supper at the Wayfarer Inn , Instow ,which is a three course menu. Absolutely amazing food for every course with some very creative menu options , not just plain pub food staples but a real gastronaut experience with something for everyone's taste. All homemade, freshly cooked and full of flavour , nice environment, friendly service , good prices and dog friendly , I'll definitely be going back.
