Restaurants in Lynton
The Oak Room
Lee Rd, LyntonWe visited this restaurant after my father recommended it from a stay a short ime before. We were not disappointed. We booked at 6pm table and had a choice when we arrived. The waiter (clearly a Spanish man) was very friendly and efficient and knowledgeable about the food but also very good humoured. the restaurant has a good ambiance with a good lighting level (not too bright but also not so dim that those of us who are advancing in years have to get out a phone torch to read the menu!). The menus in general (including the drinks menu) had a smaller selection but everything sounded delicious and made it hard to choose
We ordered the recommended 3 x dishes per person. It was all absolutely delicious and came out approximately 2 dishes at a time with ideal timing so we'd generally just finished the two previous dishes before the next two appeared.
The flavours were delicate and well balanced, I particularly enjoyed the beef meatballs with a very fresh tasting tomato sauce and lovely herb flavours in well cooked, high quality meat.
We also had dessert - which though a small selection again all sounded amazing and made it very hard to choose. The Gelato served with both our desserts was extremely high quality, soft, creamy, no icey bits, and had amazing flavours when we asked the waiter what it was he replied that they used to make their own icecream and though it was good they felt it wasn't as high quality for their standards and switched to the present Italian Gelato supplier. Clearly demonstrating high standards for the suppliers to get the best flavour and texture .
I actually wanted to go back again the very next day it was so good!

The Old Bank
Church Steps, LyntonSuch a special dining experience at the old bank. Welcoming, friendly staff (which is a rarity it seems nowadays) who were knowledgeable about the menu. Exquisite dishes with delicious flavours and beautiful presentation. They were cooked to perfection. Everything about this place is top tier. They think of everything to make your experience the best it can possibly be. I love the fact it is small and only has 6 tables! Perfect for an intimate experience. The lighting is great too, it really sets the mood when you walk in and makes you feel instantly relaxed. Thank you

Bonnicott House Hotel
10 Watersmeet Rd, LynmouthWhat a beautiful place Lynmouth is, we had a lovely weekend staying at this wonderful hotel, Sarah and Cathryn were fantastic hosts and no request is too much, our breakfasts were perfect and very tasty and both are chatty and very friendly, we would heartily recommend staying here.
Our room was nice and quiet and faced the sea front, Lynmouth itself is a very pretty village and the local pub The Barque serves great food.

The Queens
8 Queen St, LyntonCame in for a quick drink with friends after a lovely day in Lynton and Lynmouth. Warm welcome from the chap behind the bar and courtyard was full of locals celebrating a birthday, which was fun. Didn't have anything to eat. BUT I stupidly left my wallet behind and didn't notice til the next day. As a Londoner, I assumed it was gone but thought it worth a call to check. I was delighted to hear that it was safely behind the bar: collected it that evening with absolutely everything intact. Cannot tell you how grateful I was, and how chuffed that people had been so kind. Thank you!

The Rising Sun
Harbourside, LynmouthGreat weekend away with friends, we had a bad experience at the bath hotel restaurant which ended with several of us not eating. The barman at the rising sun on our return hearing about our ordeal went above and beyond to make us comfortable and offered food to the ones who never had there dinner, we had drinks and he stayed little longer over his shift to ensure we was comfortable with our evening. We will be definitely returning and having dinner there. We had a delightful breakfast of good quality and service, highly recommended.

Harbourside Cafe
1 Mars Hill Way, LynmouthPopped into this cafe as we liked the prices and got ourselves take away wings and chips. While we waited for the food, we realised how nice and quaint this little cafe was. We loved the ambiance and wish we dined in instead. The coffee prices were very good as well. The staff/owners were very polite and gave us a little treat as we left. We enjoyed the wings which was seasoned well, and the chips were tasty.

Coffee Mill
7 Riverside Rd, LynmouthWe were looking for somewhere for morning coffee and we decided to try this place out. It was a Monday morning in June and it was doing a roaring trade. Luckily we grabbed one of the remaining tables outside on the terrace in full sun. I then joined a sizeable queue and ordered our coffees at the window of a small kiosk here. Eventually I got to place my order and was given a small electronic beeper thing. It finally beeped and vibrated telling me that I could pick up our ordered coffees. Here they are served in those horrible cardboard throw away cups. Ugh. But at least the coffee was excellent and we whiled away a good half an hour or so people watching.
