Tonight Saturday 13th Sept 2025 was my first time in the Little Monkey in Hitchin and I had:-

The Tom Ka Soup with coconut milk tofu and mushrooms etc with extra spice absolutely awesome

My main meal was 2 Penang curries (no rice) with plenty of Tofu and plenty of vegetables plus I took another Penang curry home with me as that was equally as awesome as my starter

Do get down to the Little Monkey in Hitchin because the food is incredible along with the staff

When I visit Hitchin again I shall return thankyou again and much Love and Respect to You All ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We were staying in Hitchin on a Friday night before a family wedding the next day. I booked Zizzi in advance, as my son likes the food, and it was a good thing we had booked, as it was heaving.\n\nGenerally, we had a good meal. The food was mostly fine - although I thought my carbonara was way too stodgy. It was like a mass of pasta stuck together on the plate, and hard to pick up. I left some of it, which isn't like me. The rest was good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming - and service was efficient. \n\nApart from the carbonara, there are just 3 other things that weren't ideal. It was SO loud in there that I just couldn't hear what people were saying - to the point I stopped trying to hear what my son and husband were saying! You couldn't hear yourself think. No-one asked me about any allergies. I have a mild.one - no big deal, but when it came to dessert, I just mentioned it, as often restaurants use berries as garnishes, and that's my allergy. The waiter was horrified that no-one had asked me on arrival.about allergies, but then almost accused me.of not raising it - and then another waiter came over and we had the same conversation and he started telling me that I should have said something. Berries are easy to avoid, and I knew there wouldn't be any in garlic bread and carbonara, so I didn't think it was worth mentioning before. I didn't really like being accused of wrongdoing twice - especially when the onus should be on the restaurant to check. Finally, one waiter came over with a special QR code and asked if we could leave a special review and mention our main waiter by name - this was on the card with the QR code, and I found this a bit pushy. He was quite insistent that I did so, which felt a bit forced. Both were nice and had been great waiters, but I feel reviews should be voluntary. I didn't like the QR code concept.

I have visited the Albert Pub many times and each time I have a lovely time. The staff are always really welcoming and chatty and there's a great atmosphere. On arrival the colourful seating, considered layout and beautiful artwork is striking and impressive. The menu is varied and changes often. The smoked meats are a must to try! Whether you are visiting on a week night, a weekend social or a tasty Sunday lunch then you are in for a treat! A Hitchin gem where you are sure to be looked after.

Today I picked up a meal and ordered fish & chips along with onion rings — and I have to say, this was hands down the best fish & chips I’ve ever had in London or anywhere in England. The fish was perfectly cooked and crispy, the chips were just right, and the onion rings were equally delicious. The sauces were also absolutely fantastic.

The staff were very friendly and worked in a clean, hygienic environment. I’ve eaten out or ordered food several times in Hitchin, but nothing has come close to the quality and taste I experienced here. Highly recommended!

What an absolute little gem!

I shop at Sainsburys next door to the cafe, and have always thought the smells wafting over were lovely, but never had the opportunity to visit.
Well that changed today!
Went for a late breakfast with my wife and really couldn't have been more impressed.
Polite and friendly staff, great service, fantastic food and a real buzz in the air.
My wife had one of the fantastic full breakfasts (so big she couldn't finish it) and I had a ham, cheese and mushroom omelette with all the trimmings, along with a large cup of tea and a bottle of sparkling water - total bill £21.30 which I thought was very reasonable.
The turnaround was quick without being too quick, no pressure to get going.
We'll definitely be back and hopefully on a very regular basis.

Came for Sunday lunch today. Had booked a table in the bar which was quiet and perfect for my autistic child. On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table, waitress was friendly. Took our drink order and shortly after food order. 1 roast beef, 1 lamb, 1 kids nuggets meal. Unfortunately my son isn’t keen on skin on fries but I should have double checked this on ordering. Food took a while to come out but not excessive. Happy to wait for good food. The young lad who bought the food to the table got the meats the wrong way, gave me the lamb and called it beef and gave my sons dad my beef and said it was the lamb. We double checked with the waitress as I don’t eat lamb so swopped over plates. Again, not a massive problem. Food was good, lots of variety of vegetables. Prefer my beef rare but that’s personal preference. The cauliflower cheese wasn’t very cheesy but was cooked well. Unfortunately nothing on the plate stood out but was still enjoyable. If you’re looking for a standard pub lunch then this place is perfect. Better than the local carvery’s but not stand out/extra special. £64 for 2 roasts. 1 nuggets, 2 pints of coke and a fruit shoot so not badly priced either. I’d definitely come back . My child loved the outdoor play area too.

I approached the pub to assist me with providing meals for 10 days for 16 children each day. We agreed a beautiful menu that was nutritious & varied. The Manager provided us with a Meat & Vegetarian option & each meal always came with corn on the cob, peas, carrot & cucumber sticks. The pub kindly also provided a fab desert each day per child from choc brownie, rainbow sundae, icecreams & frozen yoghurts. The food was ready on time for collection and presented beautifully. The portion size was more than enough for children up to age 12. The children absolutely devoured the food each day. The Manager also provided gluten free options for one child for 5 of the 10 days. All requests were handled with no issues. The staff are so helpful & friendly and very efficient. Highly recommend ?

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here with friends to celebrate two birthdays.\nMy salmon in gochujang sauce with coconut rice and asian fried vegetables was particularly faultless. We came on a Thursday evening and the atmosphere was great. Ask for a booth if you can. Even though we declined dessert they brought 2 plates of chocolates with lit candles for the birthday boys. Such a nice touch.

This is our favourtie coffee shop in Hitchin. My son and I try and come here every Sunday and I couldn't recommend it more. The coffee is great, the staff are lovely and the cakes are always amazing.

Coffee was sour and unpleasant - I had a cortado and somehow my wife’s black decaf coffee was on point
. The server did help us get gluten free but as she put through the order she rushed to the kitchen as she ‘forgot to put it in the ticket’ - didn’t give us the most confidence about the allergy was taken seriously, especially having a nut allergy too.
Granola was delicious, hash brown bites were amazing, the sandwich was dry but that’s all gf bread…
It was average for top London prices.

I was really please find this very welcoming pub on a long cycle today.
A warm day's journey from Bedford to Cheshunt needs a refreshing half pint regroup.
The service is excellent here aswell as a really interesting piece of history which I have posted in the pictures.

I've done the St Albans Cathedral tour which I thoroughly recommend, and can only imagine what a Pilgrimage through villages like Codicote and needing a proper stop off for weary legs of an believer when Christianity was relatively new.

You still get the sence in the town as a welcome sight for such a Pilgrimage.

Puccino's is on the London bound platform of Hitchin railway station. I am a regular customer at the Stevenage cafe and as I was in Hitchin and in need of some refreshment I decided to check it out. There is a good variety of hot and cold drinks available as well as snacks.\n\nThe chap who served me was polite and my drink was just how I wanted it.\n\nThere is a small seating area or you can wait outside on the platform. It was clean and tidy.

First time ordering from Bodrum, and I highly recommend the takeaway. The food was delivered quickly, we had chicken wrap and kids doner meal. All food fresh and so tasty and at reasonable prices. We will be 100% ordering again.

I regularly visit Cornish Hearts with my two young children for ice cream, and we’ve never had anything less than a wonderful experience. The owners are always warm, professional, and genuinely friendly. If you’re visiting Hitchin, Cornish Hearts is absolutely worth a stop.

What I love most is the outstanding customer service, the welcoming atmosphere, and, of course, the delicious ice cream that keeps us coming back time and again.

Olde Sweet shoppe

We travelled halfway across the globe and stumble upon this olde sweet shop so full of treats and a true gem for the young and adults alike. Amazed by the wide selection of chocs, sweets and gummies. Staff were extremely friendly, accomodating and even let us take a picture from inside. This olde sweet shop certainly made our day in Hertford!

This is a great little place in the centre of town with a casual street food vibe. It has a real simple menu, so you can build your own dinner with choices for vegetarians and gluten free. The restaurant has a garden and is dog-friendly. The staff were all smiley, polite and helpful. Decent filling food with great flavours, served in a timely fashion. Good selection of drinks, margaritas and Mexican sodas. Worth a visit for a lunch or dinner with a friend.

WOW, am I impressed there’s always this stereotype going around that Wetherspoons is “chavy” and “dirty” but if there was any Wetherspoons to visit it is this one, the building is something exquisite, and the staff are extremely friendly.

We ordered food and drinks on the app and they came at the same time that was very well coordinated from the team

The food was brilliant the pepperoni pizza was very good it wasn’t hard crust but it wasn’t soft either, there was a good amount of pepperonis on my pizza, My son got the empire state beef burger and he said and I quote “that burger was one of the nicest burgers I’ve ever had” we were very suprised at the quality of the food, I know it doesn’t mean a lot but I love what they’ve done with the menu, very happy with this Wetherspoons.

Would definitely recommend.
