Scorrybreac Restaurant
Scorrybreac Restaurant, 7 Bosville Terrace, PortreeThis was our second time at Scorrybreac this year and was just as good as (possibly slightly better than) the first. There are plenty of decent places to eat on Skye and a handful of genuine fine dining options. Of all the ones we've tried, our family favourite is this one. We enjoyed all the dishes on this October menu, a combination of the fairly traditional but very well executed (Hake with mussels, wild mushrooms, chicken broth) and the more novel/creative (Monkfish, celeriac puree, vanilla foam) and all were delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, dishes well-paced, if a touch slow when the restaurant at its fullest. If you're after quality, are willing to pay for it and have an open mind and palate, I'd strongly recommend you give this is a go. One tiny suggestion for the restaurant... would be really handy to have a spoon to hand with every course - would have saved our clumsy attempts to get every last drop of sauce/puree from the plate with a fork/knife/sneaky finger. We'll be back.

The View Restaurant
Scorrybreac Rd, PortreeWow! This is as simply one of the best meals we have had in a very long time! The view, no pun intended is outstanding, and the service is just as wonderful, but the food! Emma was our server and was warm; delightful and very helpful with my gluten allergy; and Rebecca, the manager, was lovely, and helped us earlier in the day to arrange transport from Sconser. For the meal .... Well! We started with the crab, which was flavorful and very fresh. My husband saw the table next to us served the Curried Cauliflower soup, and had to try it. Super!! The entrees were exceptional; I had a lovely, thick piece of cod, with a beautiful butter and lemon sauce with grape tomatoes, and they subbed out a stacked potato dish, due to my gluten allergy, and it was delicious. My husband had the scallops with pork belly, and while both were fantastic, the pork belly was truly amazing. We also had a side of the seasonal vegetables, which were crisp and very fresh. If you are on Skye, don't miss The View!

Gasta Port Righ
Isle of Skye Candle Co. Visitor Centre, PortreeGreat experience! We visited as tourists and were lucky to get a table since it was quite busy. All four of us had pizza from the stone oven – absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a modern feel and is located right next to a lovely candle shop with candles made on the Isle of Skye. Highly recommended!

Caberfeidh Bar and Restaurant
Caberfeidh Bar, Somerled Square, PortreeI was pleasantly surprised to discover this place. Proper sourdough pizza with good toppings. Sadly let down by a side salad that lacked imagination and contained raw onion, which dominated. Staff welcoming and friendly.

Cafe Arriba
Quay Brae, Gladstone Buildings, PortreeIt’s a really charming cafe but very small.Lovely colourful decoration inside.\nI had a beef burger which was one of the best burgers I’ve had in long time.My friend really enjoyed her chicken burger. They do all day breakfast as well.\nMenu was a bit boring to my liking, that’s why I went for the burger.\nNo table service, you pick your own food and take the plates back, this really didn’t bother me at all

Tomita
2 Bayfield Rd, PortreeThis place is iconic, inspired to write my first ever Google review because what is with the low rating. Ppl rating it one star because the food is spicy? Grow up! Ppl rating it one star because it’s not authentic? Oh I’m sorry, were you expecting authentic Japanese food on an island off the coast of freaking Scotland?! The food is delicious, the decor is cute as hell, and the service is the best we’ve had our entire week in Scotland. Obvi don’t come here if you’re looking for Cullen Skink and Haggis but otherwise A+

The Lower Deck Seafood Restaurant
1, Douglas Row, PortreeI recently had a whiskey experience with Joe from flight deck. His whisky knowledge is second to none. The samples he shared were fantastic, and his explanation of how just a drop of water can transform the taste completely opened my eyes. His passion and clear way of teaching made the session both enjoyable and insightful. If you’re in Portree, I’d definitely recommend joining one of his tastings, you’ll come away with a new appreciation for whisky.\n\n---\n\nWould you like me to make this sound more casual and conversational, as if you were posting it on TripAdvisor or Google Reviews?

Fish & Chips
1 Quay St, PortreeJust arrived in Portree and were on the way down to the harbour. It was well past lunchtime and we just stumbled upon this Chippy shop and took a seat (tables available since peak time was over).\n\nOrdered some Fish'n'Chips, fried shrimp, some soda and a few minutes later also grilled chicken breast (seen it on another table, looked good).\n\nStaff was very friendly, prices fair for a hotspot like this. The fries were alright...just about as in any regular Chippy shop. The fish though was really great. Firstly it was actually two very sizeable pieces. Very crispy, inside fresh, juicy and tender. As it should be. The fried shrimp were really wonderful. Again: tasted nice and fresh. Hot and crispy.\n\nThe good looking chicken breast was actually very good. And not just a chicken breast - it was pretty much half of a chicken. Very nicely grilled with great flavours.\n\nWe really had a great time here. Location is very convenient, not much of a view. But a cheerful atmosphere. Food was great as was the service. Prices fair. An enjoyable lunch.

Birch Cafe
Bayfield Rd, PortreeEasily the best coffee in Portree (probably Skye). The staff were brilliant and we got oat lattes that were just perfect. The barista was friendly and accommodating and made one half-caff (a bit of a pain to make)

MacKenzie's Bakery
Somerled Square, PortreeMacKenzie’s Bakery offers a wealth of sweet and savory pastries as well as breads. The selection is enormous and the variety overwhelming. Don’t be surprised by the long line outside the bakery, and don’t let it discourage you. The short wait is absolutely worth it. The delicacies taste excellent. Incredibly, the prices are very family-friendly. Nowhere else can you get such quality for such a good price. Four fully loaded donuts cost us 12 pounds. We even went back two days in a row.

Royal Bank House, Bank St, PortreeDog friendly pub in Portree
The most positive of this pub is that it was dog-friendly, it was open late (like at 14.00) it was very central, and not that expensive. We did not think the food was that great thought, ok but not great.

Harbour Chip Shop
1 Quay St, PortreeWe had this fish and chips almost one year ago today and we have not had a single better fish and chips since then PERIOD. Everyone leaving low stars is a stupid tourist and doesn't understand that this is as natural as it gets. The service was amazing and the owner gave us free sides just for being the last customers of the day. Seriously my life was peaking while I was eating this and I IMMEDIATELY knew I would never get another fish and chips as good as this one ever again. Thanks for the amazing memory

Isle of Raasay Distillery
Borodale House Isle of Raasay, KyleI’ve traveled extensively. This is one of the best stays. The staff is fantastic. The food and drink wonderful. The views outstanding. Makes for a perfect getaway for couples as well. Peaceful but not too quiet. I was worried about my interior room and my fears were unfounded. Very comfortable, light and accommodating with a welcome dram of whiskey as well!
