Restaurants in Axminster

Railway Kitchen
Station Yard, AxminsterWhilst staying in Axminster, we wanted to explore the area and try lots of different cafes and restaurants. The Railway Kitchen kept coming up as an option on Google. It felt strange parking in the train station car park but the kitchen is well signed posted so we knew where to go. There was a great big selection of typical British breakfasts to choose from. Three cooked breakfast later, we were full and happy. There were lots of different conversations happening between clearly regular customers and the kitchen so it's lovely to tap into a nice community venue.

The Hind
The St, Musbury, AxminsterCalled in for an evening meal on the way home from rugby. The atmosphere and welcome were great as always and the food, delicious. I had a Thai green curry that was hot enough to bite back but didn't lose any of its flavour, superb, and my good lady thoroughly enjoyed her fishcakes.
Great finish to a good day.

The king prawn starter in garlic sauce on

High Grange Devon
Burrow Knap Way, AxminsterI attended the Fire school at High Grange recently and it was so much better than initially expected. From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed into a friendly environment. Starting with a superb breakfast cooked for you while you are brief on the day.
I have spent time cooking on a charcoal BBQ, but the day opened my eyes to so much more around cooking with fire. From pit fire cooking, to Komados, to Argentinian BBQ and planchers. It was such a great experience and am already looking to book onto one of their dining evenings.
Big thanks to Luke and Meg who ran they day so well.

The Tytherleigh Arms
Tytherleigh, AxminsterMy wife and i just enjoyed the new taster menu here tonight, and honestly it was sublime, we wouldn't have changed a single thing.
The staff and owner are welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The service is perfectly balanced.
The food is exquisite and without fault, in my 44 years I have never left a restaurant feeling so thoroughly pleased as I have here.
This was our second time eating here after celebrating our daughters A-Level results the first time, and we booked a table again on the way out for our third visit in a few weeks for my wife's birthday.
Just astounding.

Kit & Kee Catering
Great Trill Farm, Pudleylake Rd, Musbury, AxminsterWe got married in July this year and we hosted the party at a family farm in Devon with Kit & Kee providing the catering for the Saturday reception. During the planning process Hugo was incredibly organised, helpful, and always very easy to communicate with. We also had a very enjoyable afternoon with Chris last November where we tasted loads of delicious food and planned our menu.
When the wedding day finally arrived, Kit & Kee were amazing, and exceeded our already high expectations. Sam and the front of house team were incredibly attentive and fun, and they went beyond the call of duty sending out someone to buy more soft drinks after the weather ended up being much hotter than expected! The food was absolutely superb and was exactly what we wanted.... beautiful canapes, sharing plates of delicious shawarma-style lamb and summer salads, followed up by what was probably the best summer pudding we’ve ever had! So many guests have since said it was the best wedding food that they have ever had, including friends that work in catering and events.
If you love great food, top class service and good organisation as much as we do then we couldn’t recommend Kit & Kee highly enough.

The Bistro at Hawkchurch Resort & Spa
Wareham Road, Hawkchurch Resort & Spa, Hawkchurch, AxminsterWe booked lunch on Christmas Day and it was excellent. The restaurant was full and there was a nice feel to it. There was a welcome drink on arrival and you were shown to your table quickly. Each table was decorated and there were crackers and table displays with your name on it. It was one sitting and you seemed to be served in order of arrival which was a good idea as you had a break in between courses. The sweet potato soup and the fish starters were both really good. 2 of us had the Turkey dinner and you could not fault it. There was lots of Turkey, the roast potatoes were soft and there were plenty of vegetables. The others had the rib of beef which they said was excellent, the meat so soft and tasty and again the potatoes and vegetables were really nice. All desserts we ordered were really great too, we chose sherry trifle, Christmas pudding and apple tart. The staff were really attentive without being over bearing and they all worked really hard. All drinks ordered were delivered quickly. If you are staying here over Christmas we would highly recommend you book the Christmas Day lunch you would not be disappointed.

Costa Coffee (Axminster)
1 Victoria Pl, AxminsterPopped in this morning, on my way to the banking hub for a quick breakfast. Charlie was holding the fort on his own at the time I visited and he was absolutely fast on the service, with well-orchastrated movements. Certainly working hard to keep the queue down ?

Axminster Inn
1 Silver St, AxminsterWhat a joy to find a pub with such well cared for real ales. I wasn't feeling too great, so couldn't have as many as I would have liked. The IPA and 200 (both from Palmers) were top notch. I should add that the staff and atmosphere equal the quality of the beer. I am tempted to move to Axminster to have this as my local!

River Cottage
Park Farm, Trinity Hill Rd, AxminsterMy first wedding at River Cottage and I truly hope it’s not my last. Lucy and her staff were simply the best wedding team I have worked with. Everyone was happy to be there even working under pressure. The chefs were involved not locked away, they invited guests to come and see what was happening in service, such a refreshing change. The outdoor ceremony in the cottage garden is amazing and unique.Keep an eye out for the setting sun in the meadow, simply one of the best wedding venues around.
