Tamarind Indian Takeaway
156 South St, BridportHad an unplanned evenings worth of baby sitting and decided to pop out for dinner.
Checked out local places on Google before heading out and saw the positive reviews the Tamarind had received.
The staff were amazing, really friendly and attentive - there was no rush to get us out of the door, infact the gentleman who was looking after us made it abundantly clear we could stay as long as we liked.
The food was absolutely top notch, everything was delicious and didn't take ages to get from the kitchen.
Price was incredibly reasonable, I'm just annoyed that it's 150 miles from home

Admiral's Restaurant and Bar
Mouth Country Hotel, Eypes, BridportHad lunch here after walking on the coastal path. Slightly inland walk from the coast but worth it. Had Chicken Caesar Salad with ice cream for dessert. The chicken was moist, tender, and tasty. Service was relaxed and friendly. Nice clean decors with indoor and outdoor flow. Was initially worried that the place was closed due to the Google maps timings but it actually opens from 12 pm, not close at 12 pm.

The Half Moon
Melplash, BridportBrilliant beers, fabulous menu, and a great atmosphere. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful.
As a pescatarian, I checked out the menu in advance by chatting with the chef, I was impressed with the options.
On a Sunday, I tried the Mediterranean Wellington Roast — beautifully cooked and packed with flavour.
I came back midweek and went for the tagliatelle puttanesca from the specials board, paired with a side salad and garlic ciabatta. Both meals were not only delicious and well-presented but also excellent value for money.
I’ve even popped in just for dessert after a long day at work. The dessert menu offers plenty of tempting choices, but after some deliberation, I went with the chocolate orange tart with ice cream. It was beautifully presented and absolutely divine.
I’ll definitely be back again soon — thank you, Half Moon!

Watch House Cafe
West Bay, BridportWe’ve dined at The Watch House many times and always enjoyed it, but this visit began with several menu items unavailable and looked like it could have been a bit shaky. Thanks to quick-thinking staff and a brilliant chef, the evening was rescued – the younger rascals loved their wood-fired pizzas, while the adults were treated to perfectly cooked fresh turbot at mackerel prices.\n\nWith sunshine, good wine, and two witty, impeccably behaved young companions adding to the atmosphere, what could have been a disappointment turned into one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. We’ll definitely be back!

Hive Beach Cafe Burton Bradstock
Beach Rd, Burton Bradstock, BridportI really loved my first impromptu visit here 7 years ago. We decided to re-visit for my birthday as a family meal. From what I recall at our original visit, things have changed and expanded a bit since Covid etc and it’s good to see there are takeaway options and an outside terrace option.
We spent over £300 on a meal for 2 adults and 2 teenage children which included drinks and desserts. I did feel this was excessive even though we ordered some amazing seafood dishes.
If I could improve the experience it would be to have more options on the dinner menu as there weren’t that many and it seemed all were very pricey. I think a lot more attention is needed to address allergies and food intolerances and staff training needs to be more robust here. I have an intolerance to some fruits due to an inflamed bladder lining so I explained to the waitress I can’t do lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange. I also said I am sick if I eat mussels but I’m good with all other seafood and all other fruit. She told me they don’t serve mussels in their dishes. Later, they double checked if the single raspberry placed in my cocktail was ok. It was. However, they didn’t pay any attention or give any warning to the large wedges of lemon served on a seafood platter we’d ordered and I was quite shocked to also find mussels among the platter. I didn’t bother saying anything at the time as I just avoided the areas near the lemon wedges and my husband ate the mussels and I chose other parts of the platter. My intolerances are not that serious and I do it to avoid pain and any sickness. However, some people have serious adversities and I was just surprised this happened.
I think I expect somewhere that charges over £300 for dinner to look after me for 100% of the experience. If I had brought this up I think it might have spoiled my birthday dinner out but how would they have backtracked from doing this if I had?
Overall, it was a lovely meal and we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience thoroughly.

Domino's Pizza - Bridport
Unit 5 Tannery Rd, BridportVery quick, friendly efficient and the pizzas and chicken fingers were excellent. The chicken kickers were stodgy and rubbery like, which isn’t the individual establishments fault, it’s how my experience has been when ordering them at all different dominos establishments for a while now and I won’t be ordering them again.

Symondsbury Kitchen
Manor Yard, Mill Ln, Symondsbury, BridportWent here with my mum for a spontaneous lunch.
Positives ;-
* Nice size menu with a good amount of options
* clean, bright with a airy atmosphere
* tables well spaced so didn’t feel crowded
* my lunch was super yummy and although to my greedy eyes thinking the portion was small it was actually just right.
* pudding was equally tasty and well balanced in flavour, the food here was top notch ?? also at £6.50 better value than other places I had dined that week.
* happy to split the bill.
Negatives;
* The prices for the main menu items were on the higher side. (Although to give them there due the drinks were standard price for Dorset and the pudding a little less that other places I had eaten in that week)
* The staff although polite did seem in a rush, maybe they were short staffed that day, but I did take a bit of effort to catch someone’s eye.
* Since I was last visited they have extended the amount of covers they can do and if it was any busy than it was that day I would have found it rather noisy (as I’m hard of hearing).
Parking: The cafe is a little walk from the parking

76 South St, BridportI stopped there recently for a late breakfast and had the Shakshuka, which was so delicious I told the staff member I could’ve eaten it twice!, and thankfully it came with thick toasted bread to mop up the bowl. There’s a lovely range available on the menus as well as hot and cold drinks, along with a great deli selection to take some goodies away. As it was a warm sunny market day there was a good turnover of people, but judging by the food and smiles I can imagine it’s busy throughout the year.

Seatown, BridportWe arrived completely famished from long hikes late on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon. The staff were so very welcoming, they recognised our desperation for refreshments and rushed to take our order and deliver drinks. We had to try the crab brioche and upgraded to cheesy fries which was no trouble whatsoever! The beetroot hummus was delivered at record pace and was delicious. The cod with prawns, leek and lobster bisque was mouthwatering delicious. The lobster bisque so good we ordered a separate pot for the chips.
They couldn’t have been more helpful and the food more delicious. We’d give 10 stars if we could. Highly recommended.

All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the locals always make us feel like one of their own. Although we only have a holiday home in the area (for now – not fully moved in yet!), it always feels like coming home when we walk through the door.\n\nHannah, the owner, is lovely and adds such warmth to the place – and we love the extra character from her little dog barking for treats! Kernow Pantry
Brydian Mews, West St, BridportSecond time we have visited this shop in a month.
After craving a pasty while visiting lyme Regis, and being left disappointed after huge ques there, we randomly found this shop on our way to Westbay.
It really made our trip when we took our pasties to Westbay and sat and ate them on the beach.
Both times we have been extremely happy with the pasties we have tried and can not fault them at all.
My husband loved the hog roast and beef and blue cheese. The creamy chicken and leek was a favourite of my daughters, she had it twice. Being a vegetarian there was plenty of choice and I had the spicy veggie pasty.
The pastry was perfect and the fillings tasty and not bulked up with chunks of potato, which annoys me.
The server was really friendly and chatty. He was considerate and asked if I would like him to use seperate tongs from the other tongs which have touched the meat pasties. I said I wasn't bothered but I could understand that some people would have a hissy fit if you touch their vegan pasty with tongs that had touched a meat one.
Would highly recommend to any pasty lovers especially vegetarian ones.
