We went there for pizza while staying nearby and found the place through reviews. The pizza was really delicious. The dough was thin but crispy, and the amount of toppings was enough to satisfy both your eyes and your appetite.

The place isn’t very big—small but cosy. The tables are a bit close to each other. Honestly, it can be a bit difficult to get inside with a stroller or for someone with a disability, but it’s not impossible. It would be a good idea to inform them in advance and reserve a suitable table.

Four of us visited Saturday & all had a lovely meal. We highly recommend the chicken kurma balti… wow ? The food was delicious as usual and the service was excellent. All staff are so friendly & chatty & the atmosphere is perfect. We only caught one of the staff members names, Reggie, who was great, but the whole team deserves credit. I visited for a weekday lunch and was impressed by the unbeatable service. The menu was simple and unpretentious, nothing overly fancy but the dishes were delicious, with a clear emphasis on local ingredients.

There were two dining areas: a more casual space serving pub-style fare, and a slightly more refined area suited for proper dining.

We started with the salmon sashimi. It was enjoyable, though a slightly sweeter citrus element would have better balanced the sharpness of the vinegar and elevated the overall flavour. Interestingly, the pork belly reminded us of Japanese chashu. The mashed potatoes were fantastic.

To finish, we had the crème brûlée and savarin. The desserts were decent, though not particularly memorable.

What I truly appreciated was the transparency when the bill arrived. They made it clear that the service charge was optional. With such sincere and attentive service, it was more than well deserved.

I was surprised to see a 5.0 rated restaurant with over 100 reviews near where I live, but after Sunday lunch, I'm no longer surprised. The couple who run the restaurant are charming, serving great food in a relaxed family atmosphere. I had one of the lunch specials, culurgiones, a Sardinian ravioli-like stuffed pasta in a beef ragu, which was delicious. My wife had king prawns with pappardelle (a lunch special I think as well) - also excellent. House wine by the glass was perfect with the main courses, and then a glass of Recioto di Soave (look it up) to share with affogato and hazelnut tartufo to finish. The restaurant has about 22 covers, so booking in advance would be sensible. Highly recommended.

My friends and I have recently started a monthly curry night, and Blue India was the choice for this month! Due to prior commitments only three of us could go this time, which made getting a table easy.

Poppadoms are handed to you almost as soon as you sit down, and the drinks, a kingfisher in my case, was served quickly too.

For my starter I had the mixed tandoori, this is the second time in a row I have been pleasantly surprised by one, as normally I find them quite dry, however this was not at all and full of flavour!

We may have overdone it on the mains, as we all felt we would pop after finishing eating. I had a sizzler Juliet, keemer rice, and takar daal.

The sizzler was interesting as I had not had one before, but perhaps a bit too much vegetable for my liking, my friends had a naga each. If you can handle the spice I would recommend it, trying some my friends and I can confirm the flavour is incredibly good!

The star of my meal was the daal, something I have a weakness for anyway, as it was creamy and packed full of flavours it was right up my street.

Price for each of us came to around £58, but we did over order so a normal portion could reduce that amount!

Four reasons why it's my go-to, by a local:

- Very reasonably priced.
- Usually has space inside or out, but does run private functions, so be prepared.
- It's sunny in winter due to its massive rooflight, and sunny in summer due to its aspect.
- It has a decent choice of French/Alps inspired food of good sizes.

It also does beer, is a great space/venue for a shindig and good coffee. Sofas and tables, mixed. Phone service works for tethering to your devices. Parking is close by, too.

Finally, the staff are attentive and care.

We were looking for a dog friendly restaurant in Tunbridge Wells and stopped by The Ragged Trousers without expecting anything special. As soon as we were handed the menu we were completely confounded. Was this the perfect menu? Every single dish sounded delicious and choosing what to order felt like an impossible task.

We eventually settled on the bone marrow, fried olives, lamb shoulder with yoghurt, pomegranate, dill and molasses on flatbread, chicken skin butter with toast, and the beef tartare. Everything was excellent. We definitely ordered too much and finished almost everything, leaving only the hash brown underneath the tartare which would have been better with less of it.

We will absolutely be seeking out The Ragged Trousers again. One hundred percent would recommend.

Met up with a friend here for drinks and a bite to eat, but we arrived a bit too late to order food. That said, the bartenders were really friendly and helpful, which made a good impression.

We ended up having a few glasses of wine and some crisps instead. The setup is very relaxed and welcoming—definitely a nice spot to unwind.

The only downside for me was the lighting. I get that it’s meant to create a certain atmosphere, especially later in the evening, but it was a bit too dim. It made it difficult to read the menu properly and even take decent photos. A little more lighting wouldn’t take away from the vibe but would make a big difference.

Overall, still a nice place for drinks, especially if you’re after something chilled.

My daughter and I visited The White Bear Restaurant on the 22nd and 23rd May 2026 and had a very enjoyable experience on both occasions.

The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere with tasteful décor and a warm, welcoming ambience throughout. The chilled soul music created a relaxed vibe and had us both tapping our feet whilst enjoying our cocktails.

The staff were professional, friendly, and attentive, which added to the overall experience. The food was very well cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visits and would happily recommend The White Bear Restaurant to others.

Nice pub right in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. When I visited it was fairly busy with what seemed to be local people and regulars. There were a few TVs dotted around showing the rugby, and a fair amount of seating. There was even what I believe to be a raffle on in one corner.

The prices here were excellent, £7.90 for two pints of Amstel, in some places that's nearly the cost for one! Didn't taste bad either!

Upstairs there is a pool table and a couple of darts boards, when we arrived we were the only people there so had the run of the place for a while which was very nice.

Firstly, it took me far too long to write this review (sorry!). We hired The Barn for our wedding venue. The whole process was really smooth and well organised. Philippe and the team did an amazing job of making our day run as seamlessly as possible.

Given that the venue can do everything on the one site (service and reception), it was as relatively stress free as possible, leaving us to enjoy the day. Philippe talked us through all the details in advance and steered us through the whole process very calmly.

They accommodated the service very nicely, the food at the Wedding Breakfast was lovely and our guests had a great time. I don't know what else to say really, the awards that they have won as a wedding venue seem very well deserved.

This pub is so great. Nice beers, including craft and local ones, great vibe, and open late. What's not to love? Haven't seen any of the music in the basement yet but definitely will in future

Hadn't had fish and chips in a long time. I'm regretting that after ordering here. The cod was delicious and the chips were perfect. Very generous portions; we had small cod and large chips to share between two and it was just doable. The curry sauce is the best I've tasted!
Note I'd already been munching on the chips on the drive home!

This is easily the best Chinese food I have had in a really long time. I could already tell that the moment I got close to the restaurant, and I got a smell of the food, I immediately knew I was going to enjoy it, and they definitely didn't disappoint ?.

I has ordered:
Special Fried Rice x2
Cantonese style chicken
Beef and vegetables
Salt and pepper spare ribs

And all for £31 (you can only get these prices at a Chinese takeaway)! Then there's the flavour. Everything was an absolute hit, the rice was excellent and had a really lovely taste, the Cantonese chicken had a beautiful fragrant taste, the beef and vegetables were lovely and meaty, and of course, the spare ribs were phenomenal. Everything was excellent and this is definitely a hidden gem that I wouldn't have stumbled upon had I decided I was just feeling like some Chinese ??.

I have come here since I was a literal 'lad' - them making me sausage butties when I was schlepping over to Tonbridge for college. It remains just as that - a brilliant, low-key greasy spoon.
